BACKGROUND Understanding the treatment landscape of inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD)is essential for improving disease management and patient *** is the largest Latin American country,and it presents socioeconomic and health care differences across its geographical *** country has the highest increase in IBD incidence and prevalence in Latin America,but information about the clinical and treatment characteristics of IBD is *** To describe the sociodemographic,clinical,and treatment characteristics of IBD outpatients in Brazil overall and in the Southeast,South and Northeast/midwest *** multicenter,cross-sectional study with a 3-year retrospective chart review *** with moderate-to-severe Crohn’s disease(CD)or ulcerative colitis(UC)were consecutively enrolled between October 2016 and February *** CD at enrollment was defined as a Harvey Bradshaw Index≥8 or a CD Activity Index≥220 or a calprotectin level>200μg/g or an active result based on colonoscopy suggestive of inadequate control during the previous year;active UC was defined as a partial mayo score≥*** statistics were used to analyze all *** In a total of 407 included patients,CD was more frequent than UC,both overall(264 CD/143 UC patients)and by region(CD:UC ratios of 2.1 in the Southeast,1.6 in the South and 1.2 in the Northeast/midwest).The majority of patients were female(54.2%of CD;56.6%of UC),and the mean ages were 45.9±13.8 years(CD)and 42.9±13.0 years(UC).The median disease duration was 10.0(range:0.5-45)years for both IBD *** enrollment,44.7%[95%confidence interval(CI):38.7-50.7]of CD patients and 25.2%(95%CI:18.1-32.3)of UC patients presented with active *** than 95%of IBD patients were receiving treatment at enrollment;CD patients were commonly treated with biologics(71.6%)and immunosuppressors(67.4%),and UC patients were commonly treated with mesalazine[5-Aminosalicylic acid(5-ASA)]derivates(69.9%)and

Hereditary lymphoedema type I is a congenital onset primary lymphoedema with autosomal dominant inheritance, which is characterized by the swelling of the lower body. In this article, the authors report a case of a 32-year-old woman with repeating episodes of swollen limbs. Imaging studies and genetic study were carried out and a milroy’s syndrome diagnosis was established. The patient started sintomatic treatment of the edema, with fitting stockings and descompressive massage, with symptomatic benefit.

multiple Symmetric Lipomatosis (mSL) is a rare condition characterized by a symmetrical pattern of massive fatty deposits. This condition predominates in males, between 30 and 60 years. In this article, the authors present a case report of a 47-year-old man that resorted to consultation to perform routine medical exams, without any complaint associated. Physical examination shows multiple bilateral swellings in the proximal region of the upper limbs and analytically presents hyperuricemia, hypertriglyceridemia, hypercholesterolemia and changes in hepatic tests. CT revealed the presence of non-encapsulated homogeneous masses of adipose tissue in the proximal region of the limbs. Currently the patient is asymptomatic, being monitoring in consultation.

3D Printing Technology for Tapered Optical Fiber Protection With Gas Sensing Possibilities

We present a new procedure for protecting micro-optical fibers(tapered fibers)by using the 3-dimensional(3D)printing technology.A standard single-mode optical fiber was tapered down to the diameter of 1mm and embedded in a polymeric matrix obtained by an additive manufacturing *** show that the proposed structure protects the fiber taper against environmental humidity while keeping permeability to gas flow and the possibility of the realization of gas detection *** our knowledge,this is the first time 3D printed casings were applied to protect fiber tapers from humidity *** envisage this new approach will allow the development of new fiber taper devices to better resist in humid environments.

The Poorly Known Northeast Atlantic Regional management Unit for Loggerhead (Caretta caretta)

Loggerheads are distributed by ten Regional management Units (RmUs) worldwide. The Atlantic Ocean houses three of these: the Northwest, Southwest and Northeast RmUs. The most studied is, so far, the Northwest RmU, but the other two have focused attention of researchers. In contrast, marine turtles from the African Atlantic region (Southeast) belong to a complex but little-known region. What is their role in the Atlantic? Are these RmUs connected? To understand these questions, research was made of reports and publications concerning the Northeast Atlantic (NEA) RmU. The asymmetry in information and available knowledge about NEA is high when compared to other RmUs. This demonstrates that there is still a lack of conservation programs besides Cape Verde, and that there is difficulty in transforming data (nesting ecology, molecular, telemetry, etc.) into publications. However, this issue is evident for other marine turtle species of East African Atlantic. There is a need for better scientific support, to enable local conservation programs to deliver data in reports, and even scientific publications. There are so many aspects of loggerhead’s life cycle that will only be unravelled by more and better supported studies. This is a paper that, by analysing the available information of the NEA loggerhead RmU, reflects the following steps to address in loggerhead conservation for the African Atlantic coast.

managing inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)during the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic has been a challenge faced by clinicians and their patients,especially concerning whether to proceed with biologics and immunosuppressive agents in the background of a global outbreak of a highly contagious new coronavirus(severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2,SARS-CoV-2).The knowledge about the impact of this virus on patients with IBD,although it is still scarce,is rapidly *** particular,concerns surrounding medications’impact for IBD on the risk of acquiring SARS-CoV-2 infection or developing COVID-19,and potentially exacerbate viral replication and the COVID-19 course,are a current thinking of both practicing clinicians and providers caring for patients with *** patients with IBD infected with SARS-CoV-2 depends on both the clinical activity of the IBD and the occasional development and severity of *** this review,we summarize the current data regarding gastrointestinal involvement by SARS-CoV-2 and pharmacologic and surgical management for IBD concerning this infection,and the COVID-19 impact on both the patient's psychological functioning and endoscopy services,and we concisely summarize the telemedicine roles during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We perform a comprehensive analysis of uniform-velocity bilayer spacetime crystals,combining concepts of conventional photonic crystals and special *** that a spacetime crystal consists of a sequence of spacetime discontinuities,we do this by solving the following sequence of problems:(1)the spacetime interface,(2)the double spacetime interface,or spacetime slab,(3)the unbounded crystal,and(4)the truncated *** these problems,we present the following results:(1)an extension of the Stokes principle to spacetime interfaces,(2)an interference-based analysis of the interference phenomenology,(3)a quick linear approximation of the dispersion diagrams,a description of simultaneous wavenumber and frequency bandgaps,and(4)the explanation of the effects of different types of spacetime crystal truncations and the corresponding scattering *** work may constitute the foundation for a virtually unlimited number of novel canonical spacetime media and metamaterial problems.

Pancreatic adenocarcinoma is currently a major public health problem, being the 7th cause of death worldwide. Incidence is increasing and unfortunately nowadays the incidence is almost overlapping to mortality. The cornerstone of curative treatment is still surgery, but adjuvant treatment is critical to decreasing the risk of recurrence.
