Background Proteome characterization of the porcine endometrium and extraembryonic membranes is important to understand mother-embryo *** this study,the proteome of the endometrium and cho-rioallantoic membrane was characterized in pregnant sows(PS)during early gestation(d 18 and 24 of gestation)and in the endometrium of non-pregnant sows(NPS)during the same days using LC-mS/mS *** UniProtKB database and ClueGO were used to obtain functional Gene Ontology annotations and biological and functional networks,*** Our analysis yielded 3,254 and 3,457 proteins identified in the endometrium of PS and NPS,respectively;of these,1,753 being common while 1,501 and 1,704 were exclusive to PS and NPS,*** addition,we iden-tified 3,968 proteins in the extraembryonic membranes of *** analyses of function revealed some proteins had relevance for the immune system process and biological adhesion in endometrium while the embryonic chorion displayed abundance of proteins related to cell adhesion and cytoskeletal organization,suggesting they dominated the moment of endometrial remodeling,implantation and adhesion of the lining *** are available via Pro-teomeXchange with identifier *** This is the first in-depth proteomic characterization of the endometrium and extraembryonic mem-branes during weeks 3 to 4 of gestation;data that contribute to the molecular understanding of the dynamic environ-ment during this critical period,associated with the majority of pregnancy losses.

Introduction: Neisseria is a large genus of bacteria that colonize mucosal surfaces. Of the 11 species that colonize humans, only two are pathogens, N. meningitidis and N. gonorrhoeae. Both are obligate human pathogens;the last is causal agent of gonorrhea disease. Although curable with timely antibiotic treatment, an annual incidence of more than 62 million cases is estimated by the World Health Organization and there are no successful vaccines available. In contrast, several prophylactic vaccine options for Neisseria meningitidis meningitis do exist. Of note, there is trace of cross parenteral response induced between N. meningitidis and N. gonorrhoeae, and Proteoliposome (PL, also named outer membrane vesicles, OmV) vaccine has shown high impact on this response. Objective: To determine effect of VAmENGOC-BC? and its derivates (AFPL1 and AFCo1) at mucosal and systemic level and possible cross response against Neisseria gonhorroeae in Balb/c and C57Bl/6 mice. methods: We evaluated cross response against N. gonorrhoeae in mouse serum IgG and saliva IgA after mucosal immunization with VA-mENGOC-BC or its derivatives (AF, Adjuvant Finlay PL1 or AFCo (cochleate) 1). Results: Immunizations with AFPL1 or AFCo1 induce anti N. gonorrhoeae at saliva IgA and serum IgG responses similar to VA-mENGOC-BC? vaccine. Conclusions: Such data confirms a new possible window of prime-boost vaccination strategy against gonorrhea and extends our knowledge regarding the effect of PL vaccines on cross responses.

Study of the Textural Properties of Bovine Bones Char under Different Conditions

Environmental pollution is today a very important issue and the development of low cost materials and different sources need to be investigated. Our research group for several years she has been the development of adsorbent materials for industrial wastewater treatment and rivers. In this research compares the porosity developed by two different treatments using bovine bones to adsorb metal ions. Using bovine bones as raw material, two carbonized samples were obtained under different conditions. One of the carbonized samples was obtained in an oxidizing atmosphere at up to 600℃ for 2 hours. The other was obtained in an inert atmosphere at up to 800℃, during 2 hours. Different textural characteristics were obtained in each of the carbonized samples according to the conditions of synthesis. The carbonized sample obtained in the oxidizing atmosphere, CHUOX, produces a great pore distribution, with a significant mesopore volume, reflected in the hysteresis loop, while in carbonized bone obtained in an inert atmosphere, CHUN, a formation of micropores and mesopores smaller than that obtained in the other carbonized sample is observed. The surface area obtained is 130 m2 g-1 for CHUOX and 170 m2 g-1 for CHUN. Furthermore, the adsorption capacity of Ni2+ and Cu2+ ions from solution was measured for these two carbonized samples, and a higher retention of both ions in the carbonized sample obtained in the inert atmosphere was found, with values between 28.57 and 67.56 mg g-1. The immersion enthalpies of carbonized samples in ion solutions are determined with an exothermic effect for the solution-solid interaction.

First Characterization of Escherichia coliStrains Isolated from Wildlife Griffon Vulture (Gyps fulvus) in the Southeast of Spain

The aim of the present study was to characterize a collection of Escherichia coli strains isolated from asymptomatic griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus) during a reintroduction program in the southeast of Spain, in order to establish if griffon vulture could play a role in the spread of resistant or potentially pathogenic E. coli strains. For this purpose, 14 E. coli strains obtained from 10 griffon vulture were studied to establish their serotypes, phylogroups, virulencegene profiles and antimicrobial resistances. High heterogeneity was observed within the 14 strains isolated which belonged to three phylogroups (A, B1 and D), 8 serogroups (O2, O21, O29, O60, 073, O78, O103 and O141) and 13 different serotypes. Out of 34 genes screened, we have detected eight virulence genes that are typical of extraintestinal pathogenic E. coli (ExPEC) (fimH, fimAvmT78, iroN, iucD, cvaC, iss, traT and tsh);however, none of the studied strains showed the ExPEC status. The 14 strains were also analyzed for the production of extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs) and for antimicrobial resistances. None of the 14 strains were ESBL-producing E. coli, but high resistance-prevalences to ampicillin and cotrimoxazole were detected. To our knowledge, this is the first characterization of E. coli strains isolated from griffon vulture and although they did not show high virulencegene scores, they showed cotrimoxazole resistance.

Understanding the origin of the catalytic activity for the development of efficient catalysts is critical yet ***,we report a simple strategy for the synthesis of chromium nitride nanoparticles(CrNNPs)encapsulated into hollow chromium-nitrogen-carbon capsules(CrN@H-Cr-N_(x)-C).The CrN@H-Cr-N_(x)-C demonstrated excellent electrocatalytic activity for the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)in acidic *** applied as a cathode material in a proton-exchange membrane fuel cell(PEmFC),the CrN@H-Cr-N_(x)-C achieved outstanding initial performance,which is better than that of the PEmFC with H-Cr-N_(x)-C cathode *** CrN@H-Cr-N_(x)-C cathode also showed good stability over 110 h of *** results demonstrated that the coexistence of atomically dispersed CrN_(x) sites and sufficient CrNNPs is essential for excellent PEmFC *** functional theory(DFT)studies further corroborated that CrNNPs can boost the ORR activity of H-Cr-N_(x)-*** finding opens a new avenue for the fabrication of low-cost,highly active,and durable ORR catalysts for PEmFC and other applications.

Background:Even though the use of nerve monitoring during parotid gland surgery is not the gold standard to prevent damage to the nerve,it surely offers some advantages over the traditional *** from thyroid surgery,where a series of steps in intraoperative nerve monitoring have been described to confirm not only the integrity but—most importantly—the function of the recurrent laryngeal nerve,in parotid gland surgery,a formal guideline to follow while dissecting the facial nerve has yet to be ***:A five‐year retrospective study was done reviewing the intraoperative records of patients who underwent parotid gland surgery under neural *** operative findings regarding the neuromonitoring process,particularly in regard to the amplitude of two main branches,were revised.A literature search was done to search for guidelines to follow when a facial nerve loss of signal is ***:Fifty‐five patients were operated on using the Nim 3 Nerve monitoring System(medtronic);31 were female patients,and 47 patients had benign *** changes were observed in the amplitude records after a comparison was made between the first and the last *** were only three articles discussing the term loss of signal during parotid gland ***:Today,no sufficient attention has been given to the facial nerve monitoring process during *** study proposes a formal guideline to follow during this procedure as well as an instruction to consider when a loss of signal is observed to develop a uniform technique of facial nerve stimulation.
