With increasing life expectancy， neurodegenerative diseases have become one of the leading causes of ill-health in the elderly. Preventive strategies include following healthy diets， such as the mediterranean diet， which is particularly rich in polyphenols， bioactive compounds with neuroprotective properties. The aim of this study was to assess the association of microbial phenolic metabolites (mPm) with cognition. This cross-sectional analysis was performed with 200 participants of the PREdImEd trial (Barcelona-Clinic recruitment center). A novel method based on liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry was used to identify urinary mPm (protocatechuic acid， enterodiol glucuronide， enterolactone glucuronide， urolithin B glucuronide， and vanillic acid glucuronide)， and cognitive function was evaluated with neuropsychological tests. multivariable-adjusted ordinary least squares regression was used to assess the associations between cognitive function and mPm， and a score was calculated as the weighted sum of mPm. A higher mPm score was associated with better frontal lobe function. Among individual metabolites， vanillic acid glucuronide was correlated with frontal cognitive performance. Participants with higher concentrations of vanillic acid glucuronide and urolithin B glucuronide obtained better scores in the Color Trail Test part 2. A higher score for urinary multi-mPm was associated with better frontal cognitive performance in an older mediterranean population.

The Impact of Sociodemographic and Health Variables on Self-Care of Subjects Receiving Hemotransfusion

This study analyzed the relationship between self-care in subjects who received a blood transfusion in a university hospital with their sociodemographic and health conditions. A descriptive and exploratory research with a qualitative approach was carried out in the Transfusion Ambulatory sector of the University Hospital in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro from July to November of 2014 with a sample size of 12 patients. data were collected through a questionnaire of semi-structured questions;content analysis was based on the thematic approach. Sociodemographic data from subjects who received a blood transfusion were evaluated with respect to the education they received regarding self-care at home as well as their emotional balance in facing the health-disease process and their perspective on their quality of life. Educating subjects who receive blood transfusions requires that the medical professionals have an understanding of their patient’s socioeconomic and cultural condition. This information will contribute to a better understanding of self-care when blood transfusion is necessary.

本文是意大利西西里地区濒危物种地中海隼(Falco biarmicusfeldeggii Schlegel)污染物危险因素评估研究之一,着重探讨了有机氯(OC)杀虫剂和多氯联苯(PCBs)对濒危地中海隼种群的污染风险。选取西西里北部和中部的17个地中海隼巢址,在2005年测定了地中海隼雏鸟(6个巢址中的15只雏鸟)血液与其2种主要猎物喜鹊(Pica pica)(6个地中海隼巢址的36个样本)和原鸽(Columba livia)(2个地中海隼巢址上的10个样本)体内是否含有OC杀虫剂和PCB类化合物残留。除同源物PCB153((21.8ng/g湿重)外,地中海隼雏鸟血液中的OC和PCB残留低于检出限,这表明在本研究地区这些污染物对地中海隼雏鸟无显著危害。喜鹊和原鸽几乎不受OC杀虫剂的污染,尽管实验结果表明喜鹊体内的污染物水平显著高于原鸽。在大约8%的喜鹊样本中ddE和HEOd值有异常,其中一个喜鹊样本显示新近受到ddT的污染,这可能说明一些地中海隼受到局部OC杀虫剂的污染。本研究工作还有待进一步开展。

Although nowadays there are methods for determining the minimal Bactericidal Concentration and minimal Fungicidal Concentration, it is indispensable that?the establishment of innovative methodologies?could be more practical and cheaper. The new methodology Flash microbiocide is an assay in which one aliquot from 96 well plate of minimal Inhibitory Concentration test is transferred to another plate containing different culture medium. The correspondence with the reference methods described in the National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards (NCCLS-CLSI) document m26-A was achieved, denoting the efficiency of this fast and simple method.

mammary health is issue faced by public health nurses and the science follows new ways into this thematic area of learning course wares. The purpose of this study was to construct and to validate a distance course for mammary health promotion for nurses. methodological proposal has been composed of five stages: 1) analysis and planning, 2) modeling, 3) implementation, 4) evaluation and maintenance and 5) distribution. A total of nine experts as research population were consulted who were expert judges of nursing, pedagogy and web designer, three of each specific area, which were included in the study. The variables that had concordance index of 50% were: graphic designer pages favors learning, the user has easy navigation, the learning of the student experience, the environment provides interdisciplinary, content is built on process rather than there is a unique sequence, allows access to the available environment and holds a discussion on the subject. The distance learning course is intended to broaden and to enrich the living spaces and construct their own knowledge, favors interactivity, communication, autonomy and cooperation between the participants and provides access to educational technologies.

Waxy apple cuticles predominantly accumulate ursane-type triterpenes,but the profile shifts with the induction of skin russeting towards lupane-type *** previously characterised several key enzymes in the ursane-type and lupane-type triterpene pathways,but this switch in triterpene metabolism associated with loss of cuticle integrity is not fully *** analyse the relationship between triterpene biosynthesis and russeting,we used microscopy,RNA-sequencing and metabolite profiling during apple fruit *** compared the skin of three genetically-close clones of‘Golden delicious’(with waxy,partially russeted and fully russeted skin).We identified a unique molecular profile for the russet clone,including low transcript abundance of multiple cuticle-specific metabolic pathways in the early stages of fruit *** correlation analyses between gene transcription and metabolite concentration we found mYB transcription factors strongly associated with lupane-type triterpene *** showed how their transcription changed with the onset of cuticle cracking followed by russeting and that one factor,mYB66,was able to bind the promoter of the oxidosqualene cyclase OSC5,to drive the production of lupeol *** results provide insights into the breakdown of cuticle integrity leading to russet and how this drives mYB-regulated changes to triterpene biosynthesis.

Gastrointestinal infections are a major cause for serious clinical complications in *** induction of antibody responses by B cells is critical for protective immunity against infections and requires CXCR5+Pd-1++Cd4+T cells(TFH cells).We investigated the ontogeny of CXCR5+Pd-1++Cd4+T cells in human *** CXCR5+Pd-1++Cd4+T cells were absent in fetal intestines,CXCR5+Pd-1++Cd4+T cells increased after birth and were abundant in infant intestines,resulting in significant higher numbers compared to *** findings were supported by scRNAseq analyses,showing increased frequencies of Cd4+T cells with a TFH gene signature in infant intestines compared to ***-cultures of autologous infant intestinal CXCR5+Pd-1+/−Cd4+T cells with B cells further demonstrated that infant intestinal TFH cells were able to effectively promote class switching and antibody production by B *** together,we demonstrate that functional TFH cells are numerous in infant intestines,making them a promising target for oral pediatric vaccine strategies.

Chondrogenic potential of mesenchymal stem cells from horses using a magnetic 3d cell culture system

methanol oxidation in acidic and alkaline electrolytes using PtRuIn/C electrocatalysts prepared by borohydride reduction process

PtRuIn/C electrocatalysts( 20% metal loading by weight) were prepared by sodium borohydride reduction process using H_2PtCl6·6H_2O,RuCl_3·xH_2O and InCl_3·xH_2O as metal sources,borohydride as reducing agent and Carbon Vulcan XC72 as support. The synthetized PtRuIn/C electrocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction( XRd),energy dispersive analysis( EdX),transmission electron microscopy( TEm),cyclic voltammetry( CV),chronoamperommetry( CA) and polarization curves in alkaline and acidic electrolytes( single cell experiments). The XRd patterns showPtpeaks are attributed to the face-centered cubic( fcc) structure,and a shift of Pt( fcc) peaks indicates that Ru or In is incorporated into Ptlattice. TEmmicrographs showmetal nanoparticles with an average nanoparticle size between 2.7 and 3.5 nm. methanol oxidation in acidic and alkaline electrolytes was investigated at room temperature,by CV and CA. PtRu/C( 50 ∶ 50) shows the highest activity among all electrocatalysts in study considering methanol oxidation for acidic and alkaline electrolyte. Polarization curves at 80 ℃ showPtRuIn/C( 50 ∶ 25 ∶ 25)with superior performance for methanol oxidation,when compared to Pt/C,PtIn/C and PtRu/C for both electrolytes. The best performance obtained by PtRuIn/C( 50 ∶ 25 ∶ 25) in real conditions could be associated with the increased kinetics reaction and/or with the occurrence simultaneously of the bifunctional mechanism and electronic effect resulting from the presence of Ptalloy.

Efficient in vivo delivery of anti-inflammatory proteins to modulate the microenvironment of an injured spinal cord and promote neuroprotection and functional recovery is a great ***-modified messenger RNA(mRNA)has become a promising new modality that can be utilized for the safe and efficient delivery of therapeutic ***,we used lipid nanoparticle(LNP)-encapsulated human interleukin-10(hIL-10)-encoding nucleoside-modified mRNA to induce neuroprotection and functional recovery following rat spinal cord contusion *** administration of hIL-10 mRNA-LNP to rats led to a remarkable reduction of the microglia/macrophage reaction in the injured spinal segment and induced significant functional recovery compared to ***,hIL-10 mRNA treatment induced increased expression in tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase 1 and ciliary neurotrophic factor levels in the affected spinal segment indicating a time-delayed secondary effect of IL-105 d after *** results suggest that treatment with nucleoside-modified mRNAs encoding neuroprotective factors is an effective strategy for spinal cord injury repair.
