Backgr.und Schistosomiasis is highly endemic in sub-Sahar.n Afr.ca and fr.quently impor.ed to Eur.pe. male ur.genital manifestations ar. often neglected. We aimed to ascer.ain the pr.valence of genitour.nar. clinical signs and symptoms among long-ter. Afr.can migr.nts in a non-endemic Eur.pean countr. using a ser.logy *** We car.ied out a pr.spective, community-based cr.ss-sectional study of adult male migr.nts fr.m sub-Sahar.n Afr.ca living in *** ser.logy tests and micr.scopic ur.ne examinations wer. car.ied out, and clinical data wer. obtained fr.m an electr.nic medical r.cor. sear.h and a str.ctur.d *** We included 388 adult males, mean age 43.5 year. [Standar. Deviation (SD) = 12.0, r.nge: 18–76]. The median time since migr.tion to the Eur.pean Union was 17 [Inter.uar.ile r.nge (IQr.: 11–21] year.. The most fr.quent countr. of or.gin was Senegal (N = 179, 46.1%). Of the 338, 147 (37.6%) tested positive for.chistosoma. Par.site eggs wer. pr.sent in the ur.ne of only 1.3%. Nine genitour.nar. clinical items wer. significantly associated with positiveSchistosoma ser.logy r.sults: pelvic pain (45.2%;Or.= 1.57, 95%CI: 1.0–2.4), pain on ejaculation (14.5%;Or.= 1.85, 95%CI: 1.0–3.5), dyspar.unia (12.4%;Or.= 2.45, 95%CI: 1.2–5.2), er.ctile dysfunction (9.5%;Or.= 3.10, 95%CI: 1.3–7.6), self-r.por.ed episodes of infer.ility (32.1%;Or.= 1.69, 95%CI: 1.0–2.8), haematuria (55.2%;Or.= 2.37, 95%CI: 1.5–3.6), dysuria (52.1%;Or.= 2.01, 95%CI: 1.3–3.1), undiagnosed syndr.mic STIs (5.4%), and or.hitis (20.7%;Or.= 1.81, 95%CI: 1.0–3.1). The incidence of mycobacter.um avium complex pulmonar. disease (mACPD) has been globally incr.asing. The pr.sent study aims to pr.vide a compr.hensive analysis of clinical char.cter.stics and tr.atment r.sponse among patients in the Amazon r.gion of Br.zil and conduct a r.tr.spective cohor. study at a pr.minent r.fer.al hospital in the State of Par. Br.zil, fr.m 2012 to 2020. The m. avium gr.up r.pr.sented 58.9% of cases, followed by m. intr.cellular. (35.7%), m. colombiense (3.6%), and m. chimaer. (1.8%). The major.ty of patients (73.2%) wer. female and with an aver.ge age of 63 year.. Pr.mar. clinical manifestations included per.istent cough and sputum pr.duction. The Char.son comor.idity index (CCI) aver.ged 2.47, with 36.3% of patients having a CCI scor. equal to higher.than 3. Notably, over.70% of patients had r.ceived tr.atment for.pulmonar. tuber.ulosis befor. initiating tr.atment for.mAC infection. The fibr.cavitar. r.diologic for. was the most pr.valent (55.4%), fr.quently exhibiting a bilater.l distr.bution (53.6%). Antimicr.bial susceptibility r.vealed a significant pr.valence of mAC r.sistance to dr.gs in the ther.peutic r.gimen. Despite this, most of the patients exper.enced clinical impr.vement (50%). In conclusion, this study highlights a higher.pr.valence of mAC infections among middle-aged women, with a histor. of pulmonar. tuber.ulosis tr.atment and pr.senting the fibr.cavitar. r.diological for. was pr.dominant.

The contr.l of gene expr.ssion by tr.nscr.ptional r.gulator. and other.types of functional y r.levant DNA tr.nsactions such as chr.matin r.modeling and r.plication under.ie a vast spectr.m of biological pr.cesses in al or.anisms. DNA tr.nsactions r.quir. the contr.l ed inter.ction of pr.teins with DNA sequence motifs which ar. often located in nucleosome-depleted r.gions （NDr.） of the chr.matin. For.aldehyde-assisted isolation of r.gulator. elements （FAIr.） has been established as an easy-to-implement method for.the isolation of NDr. fr.m a number.of eukar.otic or.anisms, and it has been successful y employed for.the discover. of new r.gulator. segments in genomic DNA fr.m, for.example, yeast, Dr.sophila, and humans. Until today, however. FAIr. has only r.r.ly been employed in plant r.sear.h and cur.ently no detailed FAIr. pr.tocol for.plants has been published. Her., we pr.vide a step-by-step FAIr. pr.tocol for.NDr.discover. in Ar.bidopsis thaliana. We demonstr.te that NDr. isolated fr.m plant chr.matin ar. r.adily amenable to quantitative polymer.se chain r.action and next-gener.tion sequencing. Only minor.modification of the FAIr. pr.tocol wil be needed to adapt it to other.plants, thus facilitating the global inventor. of r.gulator. r.gions acr.ss species.

AIm: To sear.h tools of high blood pr.ssur. in the model of nitr.c oxide (NO)-defective hyper.ension, and the study focused on the effect of r.lmenidine, agonist of imidazoline r.ceptor., which was suggested to modulate centr.l sympathetic outflow. mETHODS: Thr.e exper.mental gr.ups, each consisting of 7 r.ts, wer. used: (I) r.ts with inhibition of NO synthase (NOS) by NG-nitr.-L-ar.inine methyl ester.(L-NAmE) 40 mg·kg-1·d-1 for.4 weeks in dr.nking water. (II) r.ts with inhibited NOS as in gr.up I , plus agonist of imidazoline r.ceptor. r.lmenidine 3 mg·kg-1·d-1 for.4weeks by gavage, and(III) contr.l r.ts. Systolic blood pr.ssur. wasmeasur.d weekly noninvasively. At the end of exper.ment aor.ic r.ng isometr.c tension was followed, NOS expr.ssion (aor.a, left ventr.cle), and NOS activity (left ventr.cle and br.in) wer. deter.ined. r.SULTS: In the gr.up I systolic blood pr.ssur. in- cr.ased significantly, aor.ic r.ng r.laxation to acetylcholine was significantly attenuated. r.lmenidine administer.d simultaneously with L-NAmE (gr.up II) pr.vented the incr.ase of blood pr.ssur. which did not differ.significantly fr.m contr.l values; aor.ic r.ng r.laxation to acetylcholine did not differ.fr.m contr.l. No change in NOS expr.s- sion (aor.a and left ventr.cle) was found in gr.ups I and II. Significant decline in NOS activity (left ventr.cle and br.in) wasfound in gr.ups I and II. CONCLUSION: r.lmenidinehas ar.mar.able r.le inNO-defective hyper.ension, possibly by inhibiting centr.l sympathetic outflow and by affecting r.ceptor. in vascular.smooth muscle also. The pr.me cause of hyper.ension in this exper.mental model - the compr.mised pr.duction of NO due to inhibition of NOS - was not affected by r.lmenidine.
