Feeding behavior and hormoligosis associated with imidacloprid resistance in Asian citrus psyllid,Diaphorina citri

Imidacloprid is a neonicotinoid insecticide used for managing the Asian citrus psyllid,Diaphorina citri Kuwayama,which serves as vector of phytopathogens causing citrus ***,development of resistance to neonicotinoids among populations of *** has coincided with occasional control failures in the *** objectives of this research were to(1)survey current levels of imidacloprid resistance in Florida citrus;(2)compare feeding behavior between imidacloprid-resistant and susceptible *** using electrical penetration graph recordings,and(3)investigate the possible amplification of insecticide hormoligosis associated with *** surveys confirmed that the susceptibility of *** populations to imidacloprid has decreased in commercial Florida citrus groves compared with a laboratory-susceptible *** 12 generations of selection,resistance to imidacloprid increased by 438 fold compared with the susceptible ***-susceptible *** feeding on citrus exhibited significantly more bouts associated with intercellular pathway(C),phloem penetration(D),phloem salivation(E1),and nonprobing(Np)activities than imidacloprid-resistant ***,there were no differences observed in the frequency or duration of phloem ingestion or xylem feeding between susceptible and resistant *** was no statistical difference in fecundity between resistant and susceptible ***,the fecundity of imidacloprid-susceptible female *** treated with a sublethal concentration of imidacloprid(LC_(25))increased significantly compared with controls,while such hormoligosis was less pronounced among imidacloprid-resistant *** results suggest that imidacloprid-resistant psyllids may cease feeding sooner than susceptible counterparts following sublethal exposure to this insecticide,indicative of a behavioral resistance mechanism.

Enhanced singlet oxygen generation by hybrid mn-doped nanocomposites for selective photo-oxidation of benzylic alcohols

Transition-metal ions doped nanocrystals(NCs),specifically mn-doped NCs,hold great potential in the field of photocatalysis,especially,to improve photocatalytic performance for singlet oxygen(1O2)***,we report the design of a novel mn-doped NC-based nanocomposites,specifically,silica-coated mn-doped CdS/ZnS NCs decorated with Pt NCs(denoted as mn-NCs@SiO2-Pt),which enhance photocatalytic 1O2 *** to the long-lived mn excited state(on the order of ms),the energy-transfer between mn-NCs and molecular oxygen is facilitated with the assistance of the Pt NCs adhered to the mn-NC@SiO2 ***,the mn-NCs@SiO2-Pt composites,integrate the advantages of mn-doped NCs,a protective silica layer,and Pt NCs to exhibit excellent catalytic activity and selectivity for the selective oxidation of primary benzylic alcohols to aldehydes through an 1O2 engaged oxidation process under visible-light *** work paves the way for enhancing catalytic performance via facilitated energy transfer relaxation by utilizing the long-lived excited-state of mn2+dopant ions in nanocomposites.

The onset of alcoholic liver disease (ALD) is initiated by different cell types in the liver and a number of different factors including: products derived from ethanol-induced inflammation, ethanol metabolites, and the indirect reactions from those metabolites. Ethanol oxidation results in the production of metabolites that have been shown to bind and form protein adducts, and to increase inflammatory, fibrotic and cirrhotic responses. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) has many deleterious effects and plays a significant role in a number of disease processes by increasing inflammatory cytokine release. In ALD, LPS is thought to be derived from a breakdown in the intestinal wall enabling LPS from resident gut bacterial cell walls to leak into the blood stream. The ability of adducts and LPS to independently stimulate the various cells of the liver provides for a two-hit mechanism by which various biological responses are induced and result in liver injury. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to evaluate the effects of a two-hit combination of ethanol metabolites and LPS on the cells of the liver to increase inflamma-tion and fi brosis, and play a role in the development and/or progression of ALD.

Purpose The transition into full-time training represents a key period in the development of young soccer *** we compared the weekly training loads(matches,field-,and resistance-training)of English Premier-League Academy soccer players from under-16(U16),under-18(U18)and under-23(U23)age-groups during a training *** Forty players(U16 n=13,U18 n=15 and U23 n=12)were monitored using global navigation satellite systems and differential ratings of perceived exertion(dRPE).External load metrics were total distance,high-speed running distance,[absolute:≥19.8 km/h,relative:≥87%of 30-15 final-velocity(vIFT)],sprint distance(absolute:≥25.2 km/h,relative:≥80%maximal sprint speed),and dynamic stress *** load metrics were dRPE training *** Other than relative sprint distance,overall weekly external training loads were substantially greater for U18s and U23s when compared with U16s[effect size range:1.09-1.99(moderate to large);±90%confidence limits~0.45].When compared with U16s,overall internal loads were substantially greater for U18s[0.69-0.95(moderate);±~0.40],but not *** in weekly training loads between U18s and U23s were *** Substantial differences in training loads between elite U16 players and their older counterparts,indicates the need for planned increases in training loads in anticipation of the transition into full-time training.

Estimation of Connected Vehicle Penetration on US Roads in Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania

Connected vehicle data is an important assessment tool for agencies to evaluate the performance of freeways and arterials, provided there is sufficient penetration to provide statistically robust performance measures. A common concern by agencies interested in using crowd sourced probe data is the penetration rate across different types of roads, different hours of the day, and different regions. This paper describes and demonstrates a methodology that uses data from state highway performance monitoring systems in Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania. The study analyzes 54 locations over the 3 states for select Wednesdays and Saturdays in 2020 and 2021. Overall, across all locations and dates, the median penetration was approximately 4.5%. The median penetration for August 2020 for Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania was 4.6%, 4.3%, and 4.0%, respectively. The median penetration for those same states in August 2020 on interstates and non-interstates was 3.9% and 4.6%, respectively. Additionally, the study conducted a longitudinal evaluation of Indiana penetration for selected months between January 2020 and June 2021. Indiana penetration increased modestly between December 2020 and June 2021, perhaps due to the post-COVID rebound of passenger vehicle traffic. This paper concludes by recommending that the techniques described in this paper be scaled to other states so that traffic engineers can make informed decisions on the use and limitations of connected vehicle data for various use cases.
