Tracking temporal palynofloral changes close to Cretaceous-Paleogene boundary in Deccan volcanic associated sediments of eastern part of central Deccan volcanic province

Deccan volcanic sequences （DYS） in the central Deccan volcanic province （CDYP） are designated as Sahyadri Group having -500 m thick lava pile associated with multiple sedimentary beds at different strati-graphic levels. In the eastern part of CDYP between the latitude 19°55-20°25 ′n and the longitudes 78°15-78° 30′E, palynological investigation of the intertrappean sedimentary beds at five stratigraphic levels was carried out. The study was basically aimed for tracking the floral and environmental changes across the Deccan transi-tion. The resulting finds indicate that the intertrappean sediments at the lowest stratigraphic level between the earliest lava flows are characterized by presence of marker maastrichtian palynomorphs - Gabonisporis vigour- ouxii, Aquilapollenites bengalensis, Azolla cretacea and Farabeipollis associated with triporate and tricolpate pol-len grains, phytoliths of Oryzeae of Poaceae family and peridinoid dinoflagellate cysts. The increasing volcanism deteriorated the existing flora as evident by absence of pollen-spores and presence of only structured biodegraded organic matter, fungal spores, acritarchs and algal （Botryococcus） remains in the sediments of higher-up in the sequence. For chronostratigraphic constraints on the lava flows magnetic polarity of the flows bracketing the in-tertrappean beds was investigated. The results indicated presence of n-R-n-R magnetic polarity in the basal la-va pile that are interpreted as representing the magnetochron C30n to C28R （ maastrichtian-Paleogene）. The floral change begins with the onset of volcanism in the chron C30n and floral deterioration is observed in C29n with increasing volcanism and it is only in the chron C28 R （ Danian） that some evidence of recovery of flora is recorded. The current study shows that in eastern part of CDYP the post Cretaceous-Paleogene boundary erup-tions represent the main phase of eruptions that triggered deterioration of the flora.

Forest management practices such as prescribed burning and thinning in forest ecosystems may alter the properties of soil organic matter （SOm）. In this study, surface softs from field plots in the Bankhead national Forest, Alabama, USA, were used to investigate possible SOm transformations induced by thinning and burning. Elemental analysis and solid-state 13C cross polarization magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance （13C CPmAS nmR） spectroscopy were used to characterize SOm fractions in whole soils, humic substances, and density fractions. Our data revealed that the changes in SOm fractions due to the repeated burning carried out in the forest ecosystem studied were involved mainly with alkyl C, O-alkyl C, and carbohydrate functional groups, implying that most prominent reactions that occurred involved dehydrogenation, de-oxygenation, and decarboxylation. In addition, burning and thinning might have also affected the distribution and composition of free and occluded particulate SOm fractions. The limited structural changes in SOm fractions suggested that low-intensity prescribed fire in the forest ecosystem studied will not create major structural changes in SOm fractions.

The Review summarizes much of particle physics and cosmology. Using data from previous editions, plus 3,283 new measurements from 899 papers, we list, evaluate, and average measured properties of gauge bosons and the recently discovered Higgs boson, leptons, quarks, mesons, and baryons. We summarize searches for hypothetical particles such as heavy neutrinos, supersymmetric and technicolor particles, axions, dark photons, etc. All the particle properties and search limits are listed in Summary Tables. We also give numerous tables, figures, formulae, and reviews of topics such as Supersymmetry, Extra Dimensions, Particle Detectors, Probability, and Statistics. Among the 112 reviews are many that are new or heavily revised including those on： Dark Energy, Higgs Boson Physics, Electroweak model, neutrino Cross Section measurements, monte Carlo neutrino Generators, Top Quark, Dark matter, Dynamical Electroweak Symmetry Breaking, Accelerator Physics of Colliders, High-Energy Collider Parameters, Big Bang nucleosynthesis, Astrophysical Constants and Cosmological Parameters. A booklet is available containing the Summary Tables and abbreviated versions of some of the other sections of this full Review. Background:Recognizing sport-related concussion(SRC)is challenging and relies heavily on subjective symptom *** objective,biological marker could improve recognition and understanding of *** is emerging evidence that salivary micro-ribonucleic acids(miRnAs)may serve as biomarkers of concussion;however,it remains unclear whether concussion-related miRnAs are impacted by *** sought to determine whether40 miRnAs previously implicated in concussion pathophysiology were affected by participation in a variety of contact and non-contact *** goal was to refine a miRnA-based tool capable of identifying athletes with SRC without the confounding effects of ***:This case-control study harmonized data from concussed and non-concussed athletes recruited across 10 *** of salivary miRnAs within 455 samples from 314 individuals were measured with RnA ***-subjects testing was used to identify and exclude miRnAs that changed with either(a)a single episode of exercise(166 samples from 83 individuals)or(b)season-long participation in contact sports(212 samples from 106 individuals).The miRnAs that were not impacted by exercise were interrogated for SRC diagnostic utility using logistic regression(172 samples from 75 concussed and 97 non-concussed individuals).Results:Two miRnAs(miR-532-5p and miR-182-5p)decreased(adjusted pngle episode of exercise,and 1 miRnA(miR-4510)increased only after contact sports ***-three miRnAs changed at the end of a contact sports *** of these miRnAs(miR-26b-3p and miR-29c-3p)were associated(R>0.50;adjusted pnumber of head impacts sustained in a single football *** the 15 miRnAs not confounded by exercise or season-long contact sports participation,11 demonstrated a significant difference(adjusted pn concussed and non-concussed participants,and 6 displayed moderate ability(area under curve>0.70)to identify concussion.A

Exposure to arsenic through domestic burning arsenic-containing coal causes various tumors in a population of Guizhou,*** glycophorin A (GPA)assay is a human mutation as- say detecting somatic variation in erythrocytes expressing the mn blood type,and was used to assess genotoxicity of arsenic-exposed *** blood was collected from 18 adult healthy sub- jects and 40 arsenic-exposed patients in heparin-treated *** were isolated,fixed in formalin and immuno-labeled with fluorescent antibodies against GPA,followed by flow cytome- try *** exposure increased the variant frequency (expressed as the number of variant red cells per 106 erythrocytes):nn,3.7 in healthy subjects vs.21.2 in arsenic-exposed pa- tients;nφ,12.6vs.33.1;mm,13.1 ***0;and mφ,*** total GPA va- riant frequency was increased more than 6-fold (34.7 in healthy subjects vs.185 in arsenosis pa- tients).Furthermore,the variant frequency was significantly higher in skin tumorbearing patients: nn,19.4 in arsenic-exposed non-tumor patients vs.31.5 in tumorbearing patients;nφ,29. 5 vs.54.5;mm,102 vs.159;mφ,15.9 *** GPA variant frequency in arsenic- exposed patients bearing skin tumors was increased 1.7-fold compared to patients without skin tumors (167 vs.290).The relationship between arsenic exposure history and GPA variant frequen- cy was less *** data demonstrate that arsenic exposure is associated with mutations at the GPA locus,an effect exaggerated in patients bearing arsenic-induced skin *** variant fre- quency of GPA could bea useful biomarker for arsenic exposure and arsenic carcinogenesis.

Despite therapeutic advancements,the prognosis of locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer(LAnSCLC),which has invaded multiple lobes or the other lung and intrapulmonary lymph nodes,remains *** emergence of immunotherapy with immune checkpoint blockade(ICB)is transforming cancer ***,only a fraction of lung cancer patients benefit from *** clinical evidence suggests that the proinflammatory tumor microenvironment(TmE)and programmed death-ligand 1(PD-L1)expression correlate positively with response to the PD-1/PD-L1 *** report here a liposomal nanoparticle loaded with cyclic dinucleotide and aerosolized(AeronP-CDn)for inhalation delivery to deep-seated lung tumors and target CDn to activate stimulators of interferon(IFn)genes in macrophages and dendritic cells(DCs).Using a mouse model that recapitulates the clinical LAnSCLC,we show that AeronP-CDn efficiently mitigates the immunosuppressive TmE by reprogramming tumor-associated macrophage from the m2 to m1 phenotype,activating DCs for effective tumor antigen presentation and increasing tumor-infiltrating CD8+T cells for adaptive anticancer ***,activation of interferons by AeronP-CDn also led to increased PD-L1 expression in lung tumors,which,however,set a stage for response to anti-PD-L1 ***,anti-PD-L1 antibody-mediated blockade of IFns-induced immune inhibitory PD-1/PD-L1 signaling further prolonged the survival of the LAnSCLC-bearing ***,AeronP-CDn alone or combination immunotherapy was safe without local or systemic *** conclusion,this study demonstrates a potential nano-immunotherapy strategy for LAnSCLC,and mechanistic insights into the evolution of adaptive immune resistance provide a rational combination immunotherapy to overcome it.

Purpose To elucidate the effect of discontinuation of corticosteroids in patie nts with atypical severe central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) on retinal reatt achment, resolution of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) leaks, and improvement i n visual acuity (va). Design Prospective, noncomparative, observational case ser ies. Participants Twenty-four eyes of 17 patients who were being treated with c orticosteroids for atypical severe CSC. Of these 17 patients, 16 were treated in appropriately with corticosteroids for their ocular condition; presumably, these patients’conditions were misdiagnosed, and they were thought to have choroidit is, Harada’s syndrome, or similar entities, and not central serous chorioretino pathy. Intervention Observation or laser photocoagulation. main outcome measures Reattachment of the retina, obliteration of RPE leaks on fundus fluorescein ang iography, and improvement in Snellen va. Results Discontinuation of corticostero ids resulted in reattachment of the retina in 21 eyes (87.5%), with median time to reattachment of 49 days (range, 32-400); only 3 eyes required laser photoco agulation. Fundus fluorescein angiography showed obliteration of RPE leaks at a median period of 75 days (range, 32-400) in the observed eyes; the median va im proved from 20/80 to 20/30. The mean follow-up was 16.5 months. ConclusionsDisc ontinuation of corticosteroids in atypical CSC helped in obliteration of RPE lea ks and retinal reattachment in 87.5%of the eyes without laser treatment, and im provement in va was observed.

The demand for devices based on achieving specific lasing wavelengths in solid-state materials hasprovided the motivation to study new materials that meet these new objectives. An example of a device thatrequires a specific wavelength is the DIAL measurement of water vapor (H2O). H2O absorption featuresare very narrow and require the lasing wavelength to accurately match the desired H2O absorption features.
