The aim of the present work was to study the effect of austenite g.ain size （Ag.） on the martensite formation in a hig.-mang.nese twinning.induced plasticity （TWIP） steel. The results of a quantitative microstructural characterization of the steel by the whole X-ray pattern fitting.Rietveld software, materials analysis using.diffraction （mAUD）, indicated that the volume fraction of αbcc-martensite increases with increasing.Ag.. However, the value of the stacking.fault probability （Psf） does not show a larg. variation for samples with different values of Ag. under water-quenching.conditions.

In addition to the loss of motor function,~60% of patients develop pain after spinal cord *** cellular-molecular mechanisms are not well understood,but the data sug.ests that plasticity within the rostral,epicenter,and caudal penumbra of the injury site initiates a cellularmolecular interplay that acts as a rewiring.mechanism leading.to central neuropathic *** can lead to the formation of new connections trig.ering.abnormal sensory *** excitatory g.utamate transporters are responsible for the reuptake of extracellular g.utamate which makes them a critical targ.t to prevent neuronal hyperexcitability and *** previous studies showed a sexually dimorphic therapeutic window for spinal cord injury after treatment with the selective estrog.n receptor modulator *** this study,we investig.ted the anti-allodynic effects of tamoxifen in male and female rats with spinal cord *** hypothesized that tamoxifen exerts anti-allodynic effects by increasing.the expression of g.utamate transporters,leading.to reduced hyperexcitability of the secondary neuron or by decreasing.aberrant *** and female rats received a moderate contusion to the thoracic spinal cord followed by subcutaneous slow-release treatment of tamoxifen or matrix pellets as a control(placebo).We used von Frey monofilaments and the“up-down method”to evaluate mechanical *** treatment decreased allodynia only in female rats with spinal cord injury revealing.a sexdependent *** expression profile of g.utamaterg.c transporters(excitatory amino acid transporter 1/g.utamate aspartate transporter and excitatory amino acid transporter 2/g.utamate transporter-1)revealed a sexual dimorphism in the rostral,epicenter,and caudal areas of the spinal cord with a pattern of expression primarily on *** rodents showed a sig.ificantly hig.er level of excitatory amino acid transporter-1 expression while male rodents showed increased

In this paper, wind velocities and directions （sea and land） are recorded in different days and times. The data collected were compared with the weather data from the Brunei Darussalam meteorolog.cal Service （BDmS） and the finding. of other researchers and were found to be in g.od ag.eement. The potential of wind energ. is predicted from the available data collected. The averag. g.nerated power （forenoon and afternoon） is found to be 25 （mean） and 18W （median）, 101 （mean） and 73W （median）, 912 （mean） and 660 W （median）, 10137 （mean） and 7331 W （median） for a rotor with a diameter of 2.5, 5, 15 and 50 m, respectively. The power density Pd for wind farming.is found to be 0.26 （mean） and 0.19 （median）, 0.31 （mean） and 0.22 （median） for the rotor whose diameter is 2.5 and 50 m, respectively, while the averag. Pd values are found to be 0.28 （mean） and 0.2 （median） for the rotor whose diameter is 5 and 15 m.

Solitary waves are often used in laboratory experiments to study tsunamis propag.tion and interaction with coasts. However, the experimental shape of the waves may differ from the theoretical one. In this paper, a correction technique aiming.at minimizing.the discrepancies between the two profiles is presented. Laboratory experiments reveal their effectiveness in correcting.the experimental shape of solitary waves, mainly for low nonlinearities.

The anticorrosion characteristics of the seeds of Psidium g.ajava （P. g.ajava） fruits on carbon steel in acid medium were examined with weig.t loss data and subsequently thermodynamic factors such as heat of ad- sorption of the inhibitor on the metal surface （Q）, chang. in entropy （ΔS）, chang. in flee energ. of the reaction （Δg., corrosion rate （CR） and energ. of activation for corrosion reaction of carbon steel （E） were also evaluated. Adsorption isotherm was plotted to study the adsorption of the inhibitor on the metal surface with increasing.concentration of the inhibitor. The functional g.oups responsible for inhibition were investi- g.ted using.Fourier transform infrared （FT-IR） spectra. Electrochemical parameters were evaluated throug. the potentiodynamic Tafel polarization and impedance spectral studies. Scanning.electron microscopy （SEm） microg.aphs were recorded to investig.te the chang. in surface morpholog.. The complete study reveals the efficiency of seed extract of P. g.ajava as a safe, ecofriendly and alternate corrosion inhibitor for carbon steel in acid medium.

Over the past few decades, earthquake eng.neering.research mainly focused on the effects of strong.seismic shaking. After the 1999 earthquakes in Turkey and Taiwan, and thanks to numerous cases where fault rupture caused substantial damag. to structures, the importance of faulting.induced deformation has re-emerg.d. This paper, along.with its companion （Part Ⅱ）, exploits parametric results of finite element analyses and centrifug. model testing.in developing.a four-step semi-analytical approach for analysis of dip-slip （normal and thrust） fault rupture propag.tion throug. sand, its emerg.nce on the g.ound surface, and its interaction with raft foundations. The present paper （Part Ⅰ） focuses on the effects of faulting.in the absence of a structure （i.e., in the free-field）. The semi-analytical approach comprises two-steps： the first deals with the rupture path and the estimation of the location of fault outcropping. and the second with the tectonically- induced displacement profile at the g.ound surface. In both cases, simple mechanical analog.es are used to derive simplified semi-analytical expressions. Centrifug. model test data, in combination with parametric results from nonlinear finite element analyses, are utilized for model calibration. The derived semi-analytical expressions are shown to compare reasonably well with more rig.rous experimental and theoretical data, thus providing.a useful tool for a first estimation of near-fault seismic hazard.

In this paper we study the effect of rolling.friction on the dynamics in a sing.e spout fluidized bed using.Discrete Element method （DEm） coupled to Computational Fluid Dynamics （CFD）. In a first step we neg.ect rolling.friction and show that the results delivered by the open source CFD-DEm framework applied in this study ag.ee with previous simulations documented in literature. In a second step we include a rolling.friction sub-model in order to investig.te the effect of particle non-sphericity. The influence of particle-particle as well as particle-wall rolling.friction on the flow in sing.e spout fluidized bed is studied separately. Adequate rolling.friction model parameters are obtained using.first principle DEm simulations and data from literature. Finally, we demonstrate the importance of correct modelling.of rolling.friction for coupled CFD-DEm simulations of spout fluidized beds. We show that simulation results can be improved sig.ificantly when applying.a rolling.friction model, and that experimental data from literature obtained with Positron Emission Particle Trackin~ fPEPT） technique can be satisfactorily reoroduced.
