In this paper we study B´enard-m.rangoni convection in confined containers where a thin fluid layer is heated from *** consider containers with circular,square and hexagonal *** m.rangoni numbers close to the critical m.rangoni number,the flow patterns are dominated by the appearance of the wellknown hexagonal convection *** main purpose of this computational study is to explore the possible patterns the systemmay end up in for a given set of *** a series of num.rical experiments,the coupled fluid-thermal system is started with a zero initial condition for the velocity and a random initial condition for the *** a given set of parameters we demonstrate that the system can end up in m.re than one *** example,the final state of the system may be dominated by a steady convection pattern with a fixed number of cells,however,the same system may occasionally end up in a steady pattern involving a slightly different number of cells,or it may end up in a state where most of the cells are stationary,while one or m.re cells end up in an oscillatory *** larger aspect ratio containers,we are also able to reproduce dislocations in the convection pattern,which have also been observed *** has been conjectured that such imperfections(e.g.,a localized star-like pattern)are due to small irregularities in the experimental setup(e.g.,the geometry of the container).However,we show,through controlled num.rical experiments,that such phenomena may appear under otherwise ideal *** repeating the num.rical experiments for the same non-dimensional numbers,using a different random initial condition for the temperature in each case,we are able to get an indication of how rare such events ***,we study the effect of symmetrizing the initial ***,we study the effect of selected geometry deformations on the resulting convection patterns.

A series of bimetallic Pd-Pb catalysts with a constant Pd content of 1 wt%and Pb/Pd atomic ratio from 0 to 1.6 supported on γ-Al2O3 were prepared and used for glycerol oxidation with H2O2 as the oxidizing agent at atmospheric pressure,45℃ and pH =*** m.rphology and dispersion of the catalysts were characterized by scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy（Sem-eDX） and transmission electron microscopy（Tem）.The presence of an alloy phase in the bimetallic catalyst was detected by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS）.Glycerol conversion obtained with the monometallic Pd catalyst was 19%,which was increased to 100%with the addition of *** four bimetallic PdPb catalysts were able to oxidize glycerol to dihydroxyacetone（DIHA） and the selectivity to DIHA reached 59%,58%,34%and 25%for PdPb0.25,PdPb0.50,PdPb1.00 and PdPbl.60 catalysts,respectively.

Plasma ignition threshold of nanoparticle-based and bulk silver targets was measured in air. The plasma was initiated by a Nd:YAG laser at wavelengths of 355, 532, and 1064 nm. The plasma ignition was monitored utilizing the prominent Ag I line at 546.5 nm. Lower ignition thresholds of the nanoparticle-based silver target were estimated at 0.4?±?0.02, 0.34?±?0.04, and 0.27?±?0.035 J cm^(-2) coupled with the different laser wavelengths, respectively. In contrast, the bulk silver target plasma exhibited an order of magnitude higher ignition threshold. A three orders of magnitude enhanced emission intensity from the nano-based target over the bulk target was achieved at lower levels of laser irradiation. A reduction of the thermal diffusion length of the nanosilver was assumed in order to theoretically predict this reduction in the plasma threshold. In addition, the effect of self-reversal on the resonance lines was taken into consideration.

The effect of different cooling rates(2.7,5.5,17.1,and 57.5℃/s)on the solidification parameters,microstructure,and mechanical properties of Al-15mg_(2)Si composites was *** results showed that a high cooling rate refined the mg_(2)Si particles and changed their m.rphology to m.re compacted forms with less microcracking *** average radius and fraction of prim.ry mg_(2)Si particles decreased from 20μm and 13.5%to about 10μm and 7.3%,respectively,as the cooling rate increased from 2.7 to 57.5℃/*** the cooling rate also im.roved the distribution of microconstituents and decreased the grain size and volume fraction of *** mechanical properties results revealed that augmenting the cooling rate from 2.7 to about 57.5℃/s increased the hardness and quality index by 25%and245%,*** high cooling rate also changed the fracture mechanism from a brittle-dominated mode to a high-energy ductile mode com.rising extensive dimpled zones.

In the present work, a new biocompatible composite was fabricated by hot-press sinter-bonding of polytet- rafluoroethylene （PTFe）-hydroxyapatite composite. Furtherm.re, the wear properties of this composite were studied by computer-controlled pin-on-disk type tribometer in reporting volume loss per distance. The investigation was performed in three different fractions of hydroxyapatite （10, 20 and 30 wt%）. In order to im.rove the bonding between hydroxyapatite and PTFe, and thus to increase the wear properties of the composite, the effect of adding silane-coupling agent was investigated. Furtherm.re, to simulate the environment of human body, some of the wear tests were carried out in the ringer＇s solution. It was found that the wear resistance is im.roved at high load. m.reover, an optimum fraction of hydroxyapatite （20 wt%） was found in which the best wear resistance is achieved, especially at dry sliding condition. At last, the roles of the factors such as wear load, ringer＇s solution, and silane-coupling agent are described with respect to their influences on the Lancaster wear coefficient.

We use the excited coherent states built over the initial non-de Sitter modes,to study the modification of spectra of prim.rdial scalar ***-de Sitter modes are actually the asymptotic solution of the inflaton field equation[*** energy Phys.09（2014） 020].We build excited coherent states over the non-de Sitter modes and despite the Jack of interactions in the Lagrangian,we find a non-zero one-point *** is shown that the prim.rdial non-Gaussianity resulting from excited-de Sitter modes depend both of time and background *** is very tiny of order（≤10^-24）,at the Planck initial fixed time that confirmed by resent observations for single field inflation but it grows in the present ***,our results at the leading order are similar to what obtained with general initial states and in the dS limit leads to standard results[***.1202（2012） 005].We will show that the non-dS modes and its resulting spectrum are m.re usable for far past time limit.
