Influence of LDH conversion coatings on the adhesion and corrosion protection of friction spot-joined AA2024-T3/cF-PPS

Layered double hydroxide(LDH)conversion coatings loaded with corrosion inhibitors were suggested for the surface treatment of the aluminum alloy 2024-T3,prior to friction spot joining with carbon-fiber reinforced polyphenylene sulfide(AA2024-T3/cF-PPS).Vanadate was used as a model corrosion *** shear testing method revealed an increase of approx.20%of the joint’s adhesion performance when treated with LDH and before exposure to salt *** evaluation of the joints after exposure to salt spray demonstrated a significant difference in the corrosion behavior of the joints when the AA2024-T3 is treated with LDH loaded with nitrate and vanadate *** LDH intercalated with nitrate revealed a clear im.rovement in the mechanical and corrosion resistance performance of the joints,even after 6 weeks of salt ***,the LDH intercalated with vanadate failed in providing protection against corrosion as well as preserving the mechanical properties of the *** effect of the galvanic corrosion was further investigated by zero resistance ammeter(ZrA)measurements as well as localized scanning vibrating electrode technique(SVET).

A new global raster water mask at 250 m.resolution

Accurate depiction of the land and water is critical for the production of land surface parameters from.remote sensing data *** parameters,including the land surface temperature,active fires and surface reflectance,can be processed differently when the underlying surface is water as compared with *** errors in the underlying water mask can then pervade into these products and any products created from *** many global databases have been created to depict global surface *** databases still fall short of the current needs of the terrestrial remote sensing community working at 250 m spatial *** most recent attempt to address the problem uses the Shuttle radar Topography mission(SrTm)data set to create the SrTm Water Body Data set(SWBD 2005).The SWBD represents a good first step but still requires additional work to expand the spatial coverage to include the whole globe and to address some erroneous discontinuities in m.jor river *** address this issue a new water mask product has been created using the SWBD in combination with mODIS 250 m data to create a complete global map of surface water at 250 m spatial *** effort is automated and intended to produce a dataset for use in processing of raster data(mODIS and future instruments)and for masking out water in final terrestrial raster data *** new global dataset is produced from.remotely sensed data and provided to the public in digital format,free of *** data set can be found on the Global Land cover Facility(GLcF)website at http://*** dataset is expected to be a base set of information to describe the surface of Earth as either land or water which is a fundamental distinction upon which other descriptions can be made.

There is considerable interest in potential aneutronic fusion reactors. One possible reaction is^(11)B(p,a)***, the emitted alpha particles are energetic enough to generate neutrons by interacting with boron inside the reactor through the ^(11)B(α,n)^(14N) and ^(10)B(α,n)^(13)N *** aid in evaluating neutron production within this potential aneutronic reactor, the total cross sections were measured for the ^(11)B(α,n)^(14N) reaction between 2 and 6 meV and for the ^(10)B(α,n)^(13)N reaction between 2 and 4.8 meV. The results are presented and compared with previously reported results.

m2BPGi for assessing liver fibrosis in patients with hepatitis c treated with direct-acting antivirals

methanol oxidation in acidic and alkaline electrolytes using PtruIn/c electrocatalysts prepared by borohydride reduction process

PtruIn/c electrocatalysts( 20% metal loading by weight) were prepared by sodium borohydride reduction process using H_2Ptcl6·6H_2O,rucl_3·xH_2O and Incl_3·xH_2O as metal sources,borohydride as reducing agent and carbon Vulcan Xc72 as support. The synthetized PtruIn/c electrocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction( XrD),energy dispersive analysis( EDX),transmission electron microscopy( TEm),cyclic voltammetry( cV),chronoamperommetry( cA) and polarization curves in alkaline and acidic electrolytes( single cell experiments). The XrD patterns showPtpeaks are attributed to the face-centered cubic( fcc) structure,and a shift of Pt( fcc) peaks indicates that ru or In is incorporated into Ptlattice. TEmmicrographs showmetal nanoparticles with an average nanoparticle size between 2.7 and 3.5 nm. methanol oxidation in acidic and alkaline electrolytes was investigated at room temperature,by cV and cA. Ptru/c( 50 ∶ 50) shows the highest activity among all electrocatalysts in study considering methanol oxidation for acidic and alkaline electrolyte. Polarization curves at 80 ℃ showPtruIn/c( 50 ∶ 25 ∶ 25)with superior performance for methanol oxidation,when compared to Pt/c,PtIn/c and Ptru/c for both electrolytes. The best performance obtained by PtruIn/c( 50 ∶ 25 ∶ 25) in real conditions could be associated with the increased kinetics reaction and/or with the occurrence simultaneously of the bifunctional mechanism and electronic effect resulting from the presence of Ptalloy.

Simple statistical models for relating river discharge with precipitation and air temperature——case study of river Vouga （Portugal）

Simple statistical models were developed to relate available meteorological data with daily river discharge （rD） for rivers not influenced by melting of ice and snow. In a case study of the Vouga river （Portugal）, the rD could be determined by a linear combination of the recent （Pr） and non-recent （PNr） atmospheric precipitation history. It was found that a simple linear model including only Pr and Pnr cannot account for low rD. The model was im.roved by including non-linear terms of precipitation that accounted for the water loss. Additional im.rovement of the models was possible by including average monthly air temperature （7）. The best model was robust when up to 60% of the original data were randomly removed. The advantage is the simplicity of the models, which take into account only Pr, PNr and T. These models can provide a useful tool for rD estimation from current meteorological data.

Overview of SPH-ALE applications for hydraulic turbines in ANDrITZ Hydro

Over the past 13 years, ANDrITZ Hydro has developed an in-house tool based on the SPH-ALE method for applications in flow simulations in hydraulic turbines. The initial motivation is related to the challenging simulation of free surface flows in Pelton turbines, where highly dynamic water jets interact with rotating buckets, creating thin water jets traveling inside the housing and possibly causing disturbances on the runner. The present paper proposes an overview of industrial applications allowed by the developed tool, including design evaluation of Pelton runners and casings, transient operation of Pelton units and free surface flows in hydraulic structures.

cold-sprayed magnesium coatings have been little researched although cold spraying has been applied to deposit a large number of materials such as metals,metal matrix *** the present study,helium gas and air were employed as the propelling gases to deposit mg coatings under the temperature of 600℃and 630℃.The effect of gas types on the coating microstructure was *** is much interesting to find that the particle deposition efficiency using helium gas as propelling gas is lower than that using *** suggests that strong erosion occurred during cold spraying using helium *** porosity of the coating using helium gas is lower than that using *** addition,the in-flight particle velocity was also simulated by the FLUENT software to explore the effect of gas *** modeled results show that the in-flight particle velocity using helium is higher than the erosion velocity of mg particle.

A simple and distinguished nebulizer approach to prepare cdS thin films

In this paper, we report the substrate temperature induced change in structural, optical, m.rphological,luminescence and photoelectrochemical properties of cdS films deposited by a simple and facile approach called nebulized spray pyrolysis technique. X-ray diffraction study confirmed the deposited cdS films belong to hexagonal wurtzite structure, with preferential orientation along c-axis,(002) direction perpendicular to the substrate plane. The crack free, uniform, and homogeneously distributed spherical particles are witnessed from AFm image. Various optical parameters like energy band gap, optical conductivity,refractive index, extinction coefficient, dielectric constants, and dispersion energy parameters of the films were evaluated. The strong band edge emission observed in the PL study may be attributed to the recombination of excitations and/or shallowly trapped electron-hole pairs. The first and second overtone of LO modes of cdS at 302 and 600 cm-1are observed in the raman study. The photoelectrochemical properties of the films were also tested.
