Investigation of protein-styrene oxide adducts as a molecular biomarker of human exposed to styrene

Hemoglobin-styrene oxide adducts in blood have been studied as a molecular biomarker of worker exposed to styrene. Determination of protein-styrene oxide adducts in different biological samples with modified Raney-Ni procedure is described in this paper. The following biological samples have been investigated: fresh rat blood reacted with styrene oxide in vitro: rat blood reacted with styrene or styrene oxide in vivo: vein blood from workers exposed to styrene in two factories. The data showed that there was a good linear dose-response relationship between reacting dose of styrene oxide or styrene and amount of protein-styrene oxide adducts in both in vitro and in vivo experiments. For human samples, a dose-response relationship between protein adducts and styrene exposure can be found in glass fiber factory, but not in piano manufacture plant.

Low-cost Tiz.-base bulk metallic glasses （BmGs）（Ti36.1z.33.2Ni5.8Be24.9）100-xCux （x=5, 7 and g） with a maximum siz. of over 50 mm in diameter were developed by optimiz.ng the alloy com.osition. The idea is initiated by selecting a particular microstructure comprising primary β-Ti dendrite and amorphous phase. Afterwards, based on this com.osition of amorphous phase, a class of Tiz.-base bulk metallic glasses was designed step by step to reach the optimum com.osition range. The glass transition temperature （Tg）, initial crystalliz.tion temperature （Tx） and width of supercooled region （AT） of （***33.2Nis.8Be24.9）91Cu9 BmG are 611, 055 and 44 K, respectively. The （Ti36.1z.33.2Ni5.8Be24.9）91Cu9 BmG exhibits low density of 5.541 g·cm-3 and high compressive fracture strength of 1800 mPa, which promises the potential application as structural materials.

The photoinitiated reaction of β-bromonaphthalene with excess pinacolone enolate does not yield expected normal SRN1 product 1-β-naphthyl-3,3-dimethyl-2-butanone, 3, but a more complex molecule 2,2-dimethyl-5-(1',1'-dimethylethyl)-6-β-naphthyl-5-hexene-3-one, 4, deriving from it. The reaction is inhibited by m-dinitrobenz.ne and do not occur in the absence of light. Structure analysis of the product, along with other evidence, indicates a mechanism for this reaction, where addition of a further pinacolone molecule to carbonyl group of 3 and subsequent elimination of a water molecule would afford product 4, once the SRN1 substitution product 3 has formed.

This work is concerned with the analyses of the shower and gray particle production in 4.5 A GeV/c 24mg collision with emulsion nuclei. The highest particle production occurs in the region of the low impact parameters. While the multiplicity of the shower particles emitted in the forward direction depends on the projectile mass number and energy, the multiplicity of the backward ones shows a limiting behaviour. The source of the emission of the forward shower particles is completely different from that of the backward ones. The target fragments are produced in a thermaliz.d system.of emission.

Establishment of Protected Areas （PAs）, in the face of rapid deforestation, forest degradation and climate change has been one of the key efforts in conservation of biodiversity worldwide in recent times. While Bangladesh has gained a degree of prominence in the world for its successful social forestry programs, the concept of collaborative pro- tected area management is rather new in the country, initiated in 2004 by the Bangladesh Forest Department in five PAs with financial assistance from USAID. Based on empirical evidence from three of the pilot PAs, we examined the achievements and associated challenges and prospects for co-management. our fieldwork revealed a number of challenges faced by co-management institutions：（1） institutions were dominated by the elite group, overshadowing the voice of the community people; （2） mutual trust and collective performance are key to good governance but had not taken root in the PAs; （3） encroachment onto forest land and subsequent conversion to agriculture remained a serious problem that discouraged forest-dependent people from participating actively in co-management initiatives; （4） legal provisions （including acts, rules and policies） were not clearly and adequately disseminated and understood at the community level; （5） there remained a degree of ambiguity regarding the roles and responsibilities of forest department （FD） and co-management committees （CmC） in field operations, and this was not enhancing transparency and accountability of the overall initiative; （6） the long-term sustainability of co-management institutions was another major concern, as the local intuitional structure was still in a nascent stage, and provisioning of resources （either internally or externally） remained somewhat uncertain. We offer recommendations for improve- ment.

Analytical solutions are obtained for steady flow of an incompressible second grade fluid in an axisymmetric channel of varying width. Three approximate methods are used depending upon three different geometrical configuration. The results obtained are applied to study the flow of a second grade fluid through a sm.oth constriction. To understand the flow behavior near stenosis, resistance to the flow, shear stress at the wall and stress at the stenosis throat are calculated. The results obtained are numerically evaluated for different values of dimensionless non-Newtonian parameters λ1 and λ2 and maximum height of the stenosis δm. It is observed that as we increase the value of these parameters the resistance to the flow, wall shear stress and stress at the stenosis throat increase.
