K＋ uptake in the high-affinity range of concentrations and its components have been widely studied. In Arabidposis thaliana, the AtHAK5 transporter and the AtAKT1 channel have been shown to be the main transport proteins involved in this process. Here, we study the role of these two systems under two important stress conditions： low K＋ supply or the presence of salinity. T-DNA insertion lines disrupting AtHAK5 and A tAKT1 are employed for long-term experi- ments that allow physiological characterization of the mutant lines. We found that AtHAK5 is required for K＋ absorption necessary to sustain plant growth at low K＋ in the absence as well as in the presence of salinity. Salinity greatly reduced AtHAK5 transcript levels and promoted AtAKTl-mediated K＋ efflux, resulting in an important impairment of K＋ nutrition. Although having a limited capacity, AtHAK5 plays a major role for K＋ acquisition from low K＋ concentrations in the presence of salinity.

We study the semileptonic decays of the lowest-lying bc baryons to the lowest-lying cc baryons （Ξ （＊） bc → Ξ （＊） cc and Ω （＊） bc → Ω （＊） cc ）,in the limit m b,m c Λ QCD and close to the zero recoil *** separate heavy quark spin symmetries make it possible to describe all these decays using a single form *** also show how these constraints can be used to test the validity of different quark model *** to bc baryon decays are also discussed.

AIm:To determine the prevalence of refractive error in 5-to 17-year-old schoolchildren in Puerto ***:A quantitative descriptive study of 2867 children aged 5 to 17y from all seven educational regions of Puerto Rico was conducted from 2016–*** error was determined via static and subjective *** with distance acuity≤20/40 or near visual acuity≤20/32 had a cycloplegic *** analysis included descriptive statistics,correlation coefficient,Kruskal-Wallis,Chi-square,and t test ***:Twenty percent of the children had a spherical equivalent refractive error≤-0.50 D,3.2%had a spherical equivalent≥+2.00 D,and 10.4%had astigmatism≥1 *** was a statistically(but non-clinically)significant myopic change in spherical equivalent refractive error with age(Pmyopia increased with age(Pmatism(P=0.51).males had a significantly higher hyperopic spherical equivalent than females(Pmales had a higher prevalence of myopia(Pmales,but there was no difference in the hyperopia(P=0.74)or astigmatism prevalence(P=0.87).CONCLUSION:The prevalence of a spherical equivalent equal to or less than-0.50 D(myopia,20.7%)is one of the highest among similar-aged children *** studies should explore the rate of myopia progression in children in Puerto *** children must be monitored to examine the need for treatment of myopia progression.

In this work,three cytosine derived nitrogen doped carbonaceous materials(noble carbons,NCs)with different atomic C/N ratios and porous networks have been synthesized and used as supports for Pt Ru electrocatalysts in the ethanol oxidation reaction(EOR)for clean hydrogen ***,the metal phase and the carbon support play critical roles in the electrocatalysts final *** NPs size distribution was obtained over supports with low atomic C/N ratios(i.e.,4 and 6)and defined porosity(i.e.,1701 m^(2)g^(-1)for Pt Ru/CNZ and 1834 m^(2)g^(-1)for Pt Ru/CLZ,respectively).In contrast,a lower C/N ratio and poor porous network(i.e.,65 m^(2)g^(-1),Pt Ru/CLK)led to the largest particle size and fostered an increase of the alloying degree between Pt and Ru NPs(i.e.,3%for C/N~6 and 28%for C/N~3).Electrochemical active surface area was found to increase with decreasing NPs size and the alloy extent,due to a higher availability of Pt active *** degradation tests showed that Pt Ru/NCs outperform similar to Pt Ru NPs on commercial carbon pointing at the stabilizing effect of *** Ru/CNZ exhibited the best electrochemical performance(i.e.,69.1 m A mgPt-1),outperforming Pt Ru/CLZ and Pt Ru/CLK by3-and 9-fold,respectively,due to a suitable compromise between particle sizes,degree of alloy,textural properties and elemental *** anodes were scaled-up to a proton exchange membrane cell and Pt Ru/CNZ was proved to provide the best electrocatalytic activity(262 m A cm^(-2)and low energy requirements),matching the values obtained by the state of the art of EOR electrocatalysts.

Sodium-ion capacitors(SICs)have great potential in energy storage due to their low cost,the abundance of Na,and the potential to deliver high energy and power *** article demonstrates a template-assisted method to induce graphitic nanodomains and micro-mesopores into nitrogen-doped *** study elucidates that these graphitic nanodomains are beneficial for Na+*** obtained N-doped carbon(As8mg)electrode achieved a reversible capacity of 254 mA h g^(-1)at 0.1 A g^(-1).moreover,the As8mg-based SIC device achieves high combinations of power/energy densities(53 W kg^(-1)at 224 Wh kg^(-1)and 10410 W kg^(-1)at 51 Wh kg^(-1))with outstanding cycle stability(99.7%retention over 600 cycles at 0.2 A g^(-1)).Our findings provide insights into optimizing carbon’s microstructure to boost sodium storage in the pseudocapacitive mode.

The use of by-products as raw materials in the manufacturing of industrial products has risen in the last years because of environmental *** example is the use of coal ashes from thermalelectrical plants in the production of geopolymer–a green cement made by mixing aluminosilicate with alkaline *** this study,fly and bottom ashes from a thermal-electrical unit were used as sources of aluminosilicate in the synthesis of geopolymers.A mixture of sodium hydroxide(10 mol/L)and sodium silicate(SiO_(2)/Na_(2)O ratio of 2.2)was used as the alkaline *** type(fly or bottom ash)and content of the ash were the variables in the *** ashes were characterized by X-ray fluorescence(XRF),X-ray diffraction(DRX),particle size distribution(PSD),specific surface area(BET),and thermal analysis(DTA/TGA).The ash-based geopolymer samples were measured to obtain their compressive strength after *** evolution of the geopolymerization process was also assessed based on final alkali concentration *** results show that it is possible to obtain geopolymers using coal ashes as raw materials with high solid *** compressive strength for the bottom ash geopolymer after 90 days of curing is 35 *** low concentration of unreacted alkalis after curing(1.5×10^(-3)e 3.5×10^(-3)m)corresponds to high efficiency of the geopolymerization reaction.
