Digital surface model applied to unmanned aerial vehicle based photogrammetry to assess potential biotic or abiotic effects on grapevine canopies

Accurate data acquisition and analysis to obtain crop canopy information are critical steps to understand plant growth dynamics and to assess the potential impacts of biotic or abiotic stresses on plant development.A versatile and easy to use monitoring system will allow researchers and growers to improve the follow-up management strategies within farms once potential problems have been *** study reviewed existing remote sensing platforms and relevant information applied to crops and specifically grapevines to equip a simple Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)using a visible high definition RGB *** objective of the proposed Unmanned Aerial System(UAS)was to implement a Digital Surface model(DSm)in order to obtain accurate information about the affected or missing grapevines that can be attributed to potential biotic or abiotic stress *** analysis process started with a three-dimensional(3D)reconstruction from the RGB images collected from grapevines using the UAS and the Structure from motion(Sfm)technique to obtain the DSm applied on a per-plant ***,the DSm was expressed as greyscale images according to the halftone technique to finally extract the information of affected and missing grapevines using computer vision algorithms based on canopy cover measurement and *** validate the automated method proposed,each grapevine row was visually inspected within the study *** inspection was then compared to the digital assessment using the proposed UAS in order to validate calculations of affected and missing grapevines for the whole studied *** showed that the percentage of affected and missing grapevines was 9.5%and 7.3%,respectively from the area ***,for this specific study,the abiotic stress that affected the experimental vineyard(frost)impacted a total of 16.8%of *** study provided a new method for automatically surveying affected or missing grapevines in the field and an evaluation tool fo

Subaxial cervical spine injury classification system: is it most appropriate for classifying cervical injury?

The cervical spine injury represents a potential devastating disease with 6% associated in-hospital mortality （lain et al., 2015）. Neurological deterioration ranging from complete spinal cord injury （SCI） to incomplete SCI or single radiculopathy are potential consequences of the blunt trauma over this region. The subaxial cervical spine accounts the vast majority of cervical injuries, making up two thirds of all cervical fractures （Alday, 1996）. Few classifications （Holdsworth, 1970; White et al., 1975; mien et al., 1982; Denis, 1984; Vaccaro et al., 2007） have been proposed to describe injuries of the cervical spine for several reasons. First, to delineate the best treatment in each case; second, to determinate an accurate neurological prognosis, and third, to establish a standard way to communicate and describe specific characteristics of cervical injuries patterns. Classical systems are primarily descriptive and no single system has gained widespread use, largely because of restrictions in clinical relevance and its complexity.

male hypogonadism associated with obesity is a very prevalent condition and is increasing in parallel with the epidemic prevalence of obesity. Low testosterone levels promote higher fat mass with reduced lean mass. male hypogonadism is related to an increase in associated cardiometabolic complications, such as hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, the metabolic syndrome, and cardiovascular disease. Its influence as a comorbidity of obesity is becoming more evident and should be evaluated and treated in at-risk patients. mechanisms involved in this relationship include body composition changes, the presence of adipokines, insulin resistance, and other factors, some of which are still unknown. Weight loss and treatment to replace testosterone levels improve the metabolic profile and quality of life in patients with obesity and hypogonadism; these beneficial effects depend on treatment modality and duration of therapy. The use of testosterone replacement therapy may be indicated, as it has not been shown to increase cardiovascular risk, and retrospective studies suggest a reduction in events in men with metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes.

A Fragmentation mechanism of Homemade Explosive TmDD Using DART-mS and Isotopic Labeling

A fragmentation mechanism and characterization for the first time using Direct Analysis in Real Time- Time of Flight-mass Spectrometry(DART-TOF-mS)of the tetramethylene diperoxide dicarbamide(TmDD)compound were *** mS-spectrum may support other research about devices and detection in real *** mass spectrum of TmDD obtained using DART ionization in the positive-ion detection mode exhibited a strong peak at m/z254representing an ammonium adduct([TmmD·NH_4]~+).There was another peak at m/z237,which represented the protonated molecule([TmDD·H]~+)of *** two peaks corroborated the identity of the *** DART-mS spectra of the TmDD-isotopomer successfully corroborated the respective molecular tails. The principal fragmentation residues also showed coherence according to the number of isotopically labeled atoms on the TmDD *** contrast with other organic peroxides analyzed by this technique,TmDD exhibited substantial *** theoretical modeling results showed that the fragmentation mechanism of the TmDD ion adduct is strongly dependent of the TmDD ring flexibility and the hydrogen bonding formed between the nitrogen and oxygen atoms and the atmospheric proton.

Evaluation of patient visual comfort and repeatability of refractive values in non-presbyopic healthy eyes

AImTo evaluate the intra-operator repeatability in healthy subjects using the WAm-5500 auto-kerato/refractometer and the iTrace aberrometer, to compare the refractive values and the subjective refraction obtained with both devices and to determine which of these three spherocylindrical corrections allows the subject to achieve the best visual ***-two non-presbyopic healthy eyes of 42 subjects were enrolled in this prospective study. Refractive values were compared, evaluating the repeatability, the relationship between the methods and the best visual comfort ***, cylinder and axis results showed good intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC); the highest ICC was obtained using the spherical refraction with the autorefractometer and the aberrometer, achieving levels of 0.999 and 0.998, respectively. The power vector (PV) was calculated for each refraction method, and the results indicated that there were no statistically significant differences between them (P>0.05). Direct comparison of PV measurements using the three methods showed that aberrometer refraction gave the highest values, followed by the subjective values; the autorefractometer gave the lowest values. The subjective method correction was most frequently chosen as the first selection. Equal values were found for the autorefractometer and the aberrometer as the second *** iTrace aberrometer and the WAm-5500 auto-kerato/refractometer showed high levels of repeatability in healthy eyes. Refractive corrections with the aberrometer, the autorefractometer and subjective methods presented similar results, but spherocylindrical subjective correction was the most frequently selected option. These technologies can be used as complements in refractive evaluation, but they should not replace subjective refraction.

Automated Chinese medicinal plants classification based on machine learning using leaf morpho-colorimetry,fractal dimension and visible/near infrared spectroscopy

The identification of Chinese medicinal plants was conducted to rely on ampelographic manual assessment by *** recently,machine learning algorithms for pattern recognition have been successfully applied to leaf recognition in other plant *** new tools make the classification of Chinese medicinal plants easier,more efficient and cost *** study showed comparative results between machine learning models obtained from two methods:i)a morpho-colorimetric method and ii)a visible(VIS)/Near Infrared(NIR)spectral analysis from sampled leaves of 20 different Chinese medicinal ***,the automated image analysis and VIS/NIR spectral based parameters obtained from leaves were used separately as inputs to construct customized artificial neural network(ANN)*** showed that the ANN model developed using the morpho-colorimetric parameters as inputs(model A)had an accuracy of 98.3%in the classification of leaves for the 20 medicinal plants *** the case of the model based on spectral data from leaves(model B),the ANN model obtained using the averaged VIS/NIR spectra per leaf as inputs showed 92.5%accuracy for the classification of all medicinal plants *** A has the advantage of being cost effective,requiring only a normal document scanner as measuring *** method can be adapted for non-destructive assessment of leaves in-situ by using portable wireless *** B combines the fast,non-destructive advantages of VIS/NIR spectroscopy,which can be used for rapid and non-invasive identification of Chinese medicinal plants and other applications by analyzing specific light spectra overtones from leaves to assess concentration of pigments such as chlorophyll,anthocyanins and others that are related active compounds from the medicinal plants.

The significance of U-Pb zircon ages in zoned plutons:the case of the Flamenco pluton, Coastal Range batholith, northern Chile

Compositionally zoned plutons, both layered and concentrically arranged, provide granitic exposures where the mechanisms and timing of the magmatic emplacement processes can be studied. The importance of in-situ geochemical differentiation and the magma replenishment rates are revealed by geochemistry and field relations, together with the increasingly accurate U-Pb geochronology, which has promoted the knowledge about the pluton incremental assembly *** Flamenco pluton, located in the Coastal Range of northern Chile, is part of the Upper Triassic to Early Cretaceous Andean intrusives formed in the western active margin of South America, and present a normal zoned structure with mafic magmatic facies(mostly gabbros and Qtz-diorites) close to the contacts with the host metasediments, and tonalites, granodiorites and granites in the inner areas. A combined study of the field relations, geochemistry and zircon geochronology of the magmatic facies was applied to determine the emplacement sequence of the Flamenco pluton, revealing three distinguishable domains separated by metasedimentary septa. The SW area is constituted by mostly homogeneous leucocratic granodiorites that yielded an age of 213 ma as the best estimation for their emplacement age. Distinctive geochemical characteristics, such as the absence of an Eu anomaly, the depletion in HREE, or the highest Sr, Sr/Y and Ce/Yb values among the granodioritic facies of the pluton,involve lower T and/or higher P conditions at the magmatic source according to experimental *** conditions were established during an early stage of the Andean magmatic arc building that is firstly defined here as Upper Triassic. The NW and E domains of the pluton were sequentially emplaced between 194 ma and 186 ma and both the field relations and the detailed geochronological results suggest that the mafic facies intruded latter in the emplacement sequence.
