Comparative transcriptomics reveals hidden issues in the plant response to arthropod herbivores

Plants experience different abiotic/biotic stresses,which trigger their molecular machinery to cope with them. Besides general mechanisms prompted by many stresses, specific mechanisms have been introduced to optimize the response to individual threats. However, these key mechanisms are difficult to identify. Here, we introduce an in-depth species-specific transcriptomic analysis and conduct an extensive meta-analysis of the responses to related species to gain more knowledge about plant responses. The spider mite Tetranychus urticae was used as the individual species, several arthropod herbivores as the related species for meta-analysis, and Arabidopsis thaliana plants as the common host. The analysis of the transcriptomic data showed typical common responses to herbivory, such as jasmonate signaling or glucosinolate biosynthesis. Also, a specific set of genes likely involved in the particularities of the Arabidopsis-spider mite interaction was discovered. The new findings have determined a prominent role in this interaction of the jasmonateinduced pathways leading to the biosynthesis of anthocyanins and tocopherols. Therefore, tandem individual/general transcriptomic profiling has been revealed as an effective method to identify novel relevant processes and specificities in the plant response to environmental stresses.

Can plasticity make spatial structure irrelevant in individual-tree models?

Background： Distance-dependent individual-tree models have commonly been found to add little predictive power to that of distance-independent ones. One possible reason is plasticity, the ability of trees to lean and to alter crown and root development to better occupy available growing space. Being able to redeploy foliage （and roots） into canopy gaps and less contested areas can diminish the importance of stem ground locations. methods： Plasticity was simulated for 3 intensively measured forest stands, to see to what extent and under what conditions the allocation of resources （e.g., light） to the individual trees depended on their ground coordinates. The data came from 50 x 60 m stem-mapped plots in natural monospecific stands of jack pine, trembling aspen and black spruce from central Canada. Explicit perfect-plasticity equations were derived for tessellation-type models. Results： Qualitatively similar simulation results were obtained under a variety of modelling assumptions. The effects of plasticity varied somewhat with stand uniformity and with assumed plasticity limits and other factors. Stand-level implications for canopy depth, distribution modelling and total productivity were examined. Conclusions： Generally, under what seem like conservative maximum plasticity constraints, spatial structure accounted for less than 10% of the variance in resource allocation. The perfect-plasticity equations approximated well the simulation results from tessellation models, but not those from models with less extreme competition asymmetry Whole-stand perfect plasticity approximations seem an attractive alternative to individual-tree models.

It has recently been reported that coal tar pitch(CTP)can be utilised as raw material for the production of graphene nanocapsules(GNCs)because it is formed by a great quantity of aromatic organic compounds(which promote the rearrangement of double bonds by a process of polymerisation).Due to the importance of graphene and the search for a non-expensive methodology to produce it,this work used CTP to synthesise GNCs using an in situ activation technique at low temperatures and evaluating the effect of the working temperature on the formation of such *** other words,analysing the form of the particle as the temperature rises from 600 to 900℃.As result of the experimentation,powders were obtained and analysed by the techniques of X-Ray Diffraction,Raman Spectroscopy and microscopy,employing Field Fmission Scanning Electron microscopy by normal mode as well as by Scanning Transmission Electron microscopy and a High-Resolution Scanning Electron *** results show that working with temperatures between 800 and 850℃promotes the production of GNCs,considering that their size reduces as the working temperature rises.

Extensins （EXTs） are highly repetitive plant O-glycoproteins that require several post-translational modifi- cations （PTms） to become functional in plant cell walls. First, they are hydroxylated on contiguous proline residues; then they are O-glycosylated on hydroxyproline and serine. After secretion into the apoplast, O-glycosylated EXTs form a tridimensional network organized by inter- and intra-Tyr linkages. Recent studies have made significant progress in the identification of the enzymatic machinery required to process EXTs, which includes prolyl 4-hydroxylases, glycosyltransferases, papain-type cysteine endopeptidases, and peroxidases. EXTs are abundant in plant tissues and are particularly important in rapidly expanding root hairs and pollen tubes, which grow in a polar manner. Small changes in EXT PTms affect fastgrowing cells, although the molecular mechanisms underlying this regulation are unknown. In this review, we highlight recent advances in our understanding of EXT modifications throughout the secretory pathway, EXT assembly in cell walls, and possible sensing mechanisms involving the Catharanthus roseus cell surface sensor receptor-like kinases located at the interface between the apoplast and the cytoplasmic side of the plasma membrane.

During the late months of last year,a novel coronavirus was detected in Hubei,*** virus,since then,has spread all across the globe forcing Word Health Organization(WHO)to declare COVID-19 outbreak a *** Spain,the virus started infecting the country slowly until rapid growth of infected people occurred in madrid,Barcelona and other major *** government in an attempt to stop the rapssid spread of the virus and ensure that health system will not reach its capacity,implement strict measures by putting the entire country in *** duration of these measures,depends on the evolution of the virus in *** this study,a Deep Neural Network approach using monte Carlo is proposed for generating a database to train networks for estimating the optimal parameters of a SIR epidemiology *** number of total infected people as of April 7 in Spain is considered as input to the Deep Neural *** adaptability of the model was evaluated using the latest data upon completion of this paper,i.e.,April *** date range for the peak of infected people(i.e.,active cases)based on the new information is estimated to be within 74 to 109 days after the first recorded case of COVID-19 in *** addition,a curve fitting measure based on the squared Euclidean distance indicates that according to the current data the peak might occur before the 86th ***,Deep Neural Networks have proven accurate and useful tools in handling big epidemiological data and for peak prediction estimates.

The sprayed ZnO films: nanostructures and physical parameters

We synthesized the pure and indium-doped （IZO） ZnO films with a facile composition control spray pyrolysis route. The substrate temperature （Ts） and In-doping effects on the properties of as-grown films are inves- tigated. The X-ray pattern confirms that the as-synthesized ZnO phase is grown along a （002） preferential plane. It is revealed that the crystalline structure is improved with a substrate temperature of 350 ℃ moreover, the morphol- ogy of as-grown films, analyzed by AFm, shows nanostructures that have grown along the c-axis. The （3 ×3 μm2） area scanned AFm surface studies give the smooth film surface RmS 〈 40 nm. The UV-VIS-IR measurements reveal that the sprayed films are highly transparent in the visible and IR bands. The photoluminescence analysis shows that the strong blue and yellow luminescences of 2.11 and 2.81 eV are emitted from ZnO and IZO films with a slight shift in photon energy caused by In-doping. The band gap is a bit widened by In-doping, 3.21 eV （ZnO） and 3.31 eV （IZO） and the resistivity is reduced from 385 to 8Ω·m. An interesting result is the resistivity linear dependence on the substrate temperature of pure ZnO films.
