We have developed a simple one-step process for synthesis of ternary quantum dots(ZnCdSe,mgCdSe) with photoluminescence wavelengths ranging from the red to the blue region of the visible *** primary aim of this work was to develop a synthesis for the preparation of Cd-containing quantum dots using a Cd precursor with lower toxicity than those used in common syntheses. This synthesis makes use of Cd(acac)_2 which is significantly less toxic than precursors such as CdO and CdCl_2. We have studied the effect of solvent boiling point, precursors and reaction time on the photoluminescence properties of the ternary quantum dots. Ternary quantum dots synthesized from Cd(acac)_2 in low boiling point solvents have photoluminescence wavelengths in the blue region, while those synthesized in high boiling point solvents have photoluminescence wavelengths in the red region.

This experiment was carried out with 375 male broilers(Ross 308) from days 1 to 28 to evaluate the influence of crimped kernel maize silage(CKmS) on the manifestation of subclinical necrotic enteritis,microbiota counts, organic acid production and relative weights of gastrointestinal segments. A necrotic enteritis disease model was applied. Birds were allocated into 3 different dietary treatments: a maizebased feed(mBF, control diet), and 2 diets supplemented with 15%(CKmS15) or 30%(CKmS30) of crimped ensiled kernel maize. The disease model involved a 10-time overdose of an attenuated live vaccine against coccidiosis given orally on day 17, followed by oral inoculation of Clostridium perfringens Type A(S48,10~8 to 10~9 bacteria/bird) twice daily on days 18,19, 20 and 21. Scoring of intestinal lesions was performed on days 22, 23, 25 and 28. Ileal and caecal digesta samples were collected for the quantification of selected bacterial groups and organic acids. The results showed that there was no effect of dietary treatments on small intestinal lesion scores(P> 0.05). Lesions scores peaked on days 23 and 25 and decreased again on day 28(P = 0.001). No effect of age on microbiota counts was observed, but feeding of CKmS30 reduced the number of coliforms in ileal contents(P = 0.01). Dietary treatments did not affect organic acid concentrations in ileum and caeca, but there was an effect of age; butyric acid was higher on days 22, 23 and 25 than on day 28(P = 0.04). Acetic acid and propionic acid concentrations in caeca were the highest on days 22 and 28 but the lowest on days 23 and 25. Relative gizzard and caeca weights were increased, and relative ileum weights were decreased when birds were fed CKmS30(P mS in broiler diets had no effects on the course of necrotic enteritis but had potential benefits in terms of inhibition of potentially harmful microorganisms.

Non-conventional feed ingredients are receiving more interest in their ability to increase farming effi-ciency,sustainability and animal *** objective of this study was to determine the optimal rate of inclusion level of the full-fat black soldier fly larvae(BSFL)in broiler diets and to evaluate their impact on performance,nutrient digestibility,and the immune system(blood cells and intraepithelial lymphocytes).A total of 400 male day-old Ross 308 broilers were randomly assigned to 5 treatment groups with 8 replicates *** inclusion levels of full-fat BSFL were investigated across starter(0,2.5%,5%,7.5%and 10%),grower and finisher diets(0,5%,10%,15%and 20%).All diets were formulated based on digestible amino acid values according to the Aviagen(2016)recommendations.A polynomial regression at different degrees was performed to analyse broiler performance parameters(body weight,body weight gain,feed intake,and feed conversion ratio),nutrient digestibility,and blood cell *** lymphocyte population data was analysed performing univariate linear *** the entire experimental period(from 2 to 42 d),BSFL inclusion levels decreased the feed conversion ratio by 10%in broilers that received 20%BSFL in their diets(Pmphocytes and white blood cell count decreased linearly by 47.7%and 35.9%,respectively,with up to 20%BSFL inclusion(Pmphocytes and a 9.7-fold decrease of CD3+CD8+intestinal cytotoxic T lymphocytes occurred in broilers fed 20%BSFL compared to the control *** findings suggest that the inclusion of BSFL can improve broiler performance and potentially reduce immune response energy expenditure in birds fed 20%BSFL for 42 d.

The Paleocene-recent post-rift subsidence history recorded in the mumbai Offshore Basin off western continental margin of India is examined. Results obtained through 2-D flexural backstripping modelling of new seismic data reveal considerable thermo-tectonic subsidence over last ca. 56 myr. Reverse postrift subsidence modelling with variable β stretching factor predicts residual topography of ca. 2000 m to the west of Shelf margin Basin and fails to restore late Paleocene horizon and the underlying igneous basement to the sea level. This potentially implies that:(1) either the igneous basement formed during the late Cretaceous was emplaced under open marine environs; or(2) a laterally varying cumulative subsidence occurred within mumbai Offshore Basin(mOB) during ca. 68 to ca. 56 ma. Pre-depositional topographic variations at ca. 56 ma across the basin could be attributed to the extensional processes such as varied lower crustal underplating along Western Continental margin of India(WCmI). Investigations about basement tectonics after unroofing of sediments since late Paleocene from this region support a transitional and heavily stretched nature of crust with high to very high β factors. Computations of past sediment accumulation rates show that the basin sedimentation peaked during late miocene concurrently with uplift of Himalayan-Tibetan Plateau and intensification of Indian monsoon system. Results from basin subsidence modelling presented here may have significant implications for further studies attempting to explore tectono-climatic interactions in Asia.

Stimulated by thermal optimization in magnetic materials process engineering,the present investigation investigates theoretically the entropy generation in mixed convection magnetohydrodynamic(mHD)flow of an electrically-conducting nanofluid from a vertical *** mathematical model includes the effects of viscous dissipation,second order velocity slip and thermal slip,has been *** cylindrical partial differential form of the two-component non-homogenous nanofluid model has been transformed into a system of coupled ordinary differential equations by applying similarity *** effects of governing parameters with no-flux nanoparticle concentration have been examined on important quantities of ***,the dimensionless form of the entropy generation number has also been evaluated using homotopy analysis method(HAm).The present analytical results achieve good correlation with numerical results(shooting method).Entropy is found to be an increasing function of second order velocity slip,magnetic field and curvature *** is elevated with increasing curvature parameter and magnetic parameter whereas it is reduced with mixed convection *** flow is accelerated with curvature parameter but decelerated with magnetic *** transfer rate(Nusselt number)is enhanced with greater mixed convection parameter,curvature parameter and first order velocity slip parameter but reduced with increasing second order velocity slip *** generation is also increased with magnetic parameter,second order slip velocity parameter,curvature parameter,thermophoresis parameter,buoyancy parameter and Reynolds number whereas it is suppressed with first order velocity slip parameter,Brownian motion parameter and thermal slip parameter.
