The identifica.ion of jets origina.ing from qua.ks a.d gluons,often referred to a. qua.k/gluon ta.ging,pla.s a. importa.t role in va.ious a.a.yses performed a. the La.ge Ha.ron Collider,a. Sta.da.d model mea.urements a.d sea.ches for new pa.ticles deca.ing to qua.ks often rely on suppressing a.la.ge gluon-induced *** pa.er describes the mea.urement of the efficiencies of qua.k/gluon ta.gers developed within the a.La. Colla.ora.ion,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision da.a.with a. integra.ed luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the a.La. *** ta.gers with high performa.ces in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from qua.ks a.e studied:one ta.ger is ba.ed on requirements on the number of inner-detector tra.ks a.socia.ed with the jet,a.d the other combines severa. jet substructure observa.les using a.boosted decision tree.a.method is esta.lished to determine the qua.k/gluon fra.tion in da.a.by using qua.k/gluon-enriched subsa.ples defined by the jet *** in ta.ging efficiency between da.a.a.d simula.ion a.e provided for jets with tra.sverse momentum between 500 GeV a.d 2 TeV a.d for multiple ta.ger working points.

Co-Cu-ba.ed ca.a.ysts a.e widely a.plied in higher a.cohol synthesis (Ha.) from synthesis ga.. a.though the na.ure of the a.tive sites is still not fully understood, the forma.ion of Co2C under Ha. conditions seems to pla. a.ma.or role. a.CO pretrea.ment procedure wa. developed a.lowing a.systema.ic investiga.ion of the influence of coba.t ca.bidiza.ion on the structura. properties a.d ca.a.ytic performa.ce of the ca.a.ysts. By exposing the ca.a.yst to a.CO-conta.ning a.mosphere prior to Ha., Co enrichment of the ca.a.yst surfa.e occurred followed by ca.bide forma.ion. This surfa.e modifica.ion decrea.ed the forma.ion of hydroca.bons a.d enha.ced the forma.ion of C2+OH. The ca.a.yst pretrea.ed with CO a. 20 ba. a.hieved the highest selectivity to etha.ol a.d the lowest hydroca.bon selectivity.

In 1988, Rudolf Pichlma.r pioneered split liver tra.spla.ta.ion(SLT), ena.ling the tra.spla.ta.ion of one donor liver into two recipients-one pedia.ric a.d one a.ult pa.ient. In the sa.e yea., Henri Bismuth a.d collea.ues performed the first full right/full left split procedure with two a.ult recipients. Both splitting techniques were ra.idly a.opted within the tra.spla.t community. However, a.SLT is technically dema.ding, ma. ca.se increa.ed periopera.ive complica.ions, a.d ma. potentia.ly tra.sform a. excellent decea.ed donor orga. into two ma.gina. qua.ity gra.ts. Thus, crucia. eva.ua.ion of donor orga.s suita.le for splitting a.d ca.eful screening of potentia. SLT recipients is wa.ra.ted. Furthermore, the logistic ba.kground of the splitting procedure a. well a. the orga. a.loca.ion policy must be a.a.ted to further increa.e the number a.d the sa.ety of SLT. Under defined circumsta.ces, in selected pa.ients a.d a. experienced tra.spla.t centers, SLT outcomes ca. be simila. to those obta.ned in full orga. LT. Thus, SLT is a. importa.t tool to reduce the donor orga. shorta.e a.d wa.tlist morta.ity, especia.ly for pedia.ric pa.ients a.d sma.l a.ults. The present review gives a. overview of technical a.pects, current developments, a.d clinical outcomes of SLT.

Pa.t of the Lower Rhine Va.ley-Eifel observa.ory of TERENO is loca.ed within the Eifel Na.iona. Pa.k. Recently, the Na.iona. Pa.k forest ma.a.ement sta.ted to promote the na.- ura. regenera.ion of nea.-na.ura. beech forest by removing a.significa.t proportion of the spruce forest tha. wa. esta.lished for timber production a.ter World Wa. II. Within this context, the effects of such a.disturba.ce on forest ecosystem functioning a.e currently investiga.ed in a.deforesta.ion experiment in the Wtisteba.h ca.chment, which is one of the key experimenta. re- sea.ch sites within the Lower Rhine Va.ley-Eifel observa.ory. Here, we present the integra.ed observa.ion system of the Wiisteba.h test site to exempla.ily demonstra.e the terrestria. observa.ory concept of TERENO tha. a.lows for a.deta.led mon- itoring of cha.ges in hydrologica. a.d biogeochemica. sta.es a.d fluxes triggered by environmenta. disturba.ces. We present the observa.ion pla.forms a.d the soil sa.pling ca.pa.gn, a. well a. prelimina.y results including a. a.a.ysis of da.a.con- sistency. The term forest tra.sition refers to a.cha.ge in forest cover over a.given a.ea.from a.period of net forest a.ea.loss to a.period of net ga.n. Whether tra.sitioning from deforesta.ion to reforesta.ion ca. lea. to improved ecosystem services, depends on the qua.ity a.d cha.a.teristics of the newly esta.lished forest cover. Using publicly a.a.la.le da.a. we exa.ine forest tra.sition in two regions of tropica. China. Ha.na. Isla.d a.d Xishua.gba.na. We found tha. the overa.l increa.e of forest cover in both a.ea. during the1980 s wa. due to a. increa.e in pla.ta.ion forests ra.her tha. to increa.es in the a.ea.covered by na.ura. forest. We a.so found a.time la. between the increa.e in overa.l forest cover a.d a. increa.e in na.ura. forest. On Ha.na. Isla.d, na.ura. forest continued to decline beyond the point in time when overa.l forest cover ha. sta.ted to increa.e, a.d only bega. to recover ten yea.s a.ter the turning point in 1978. In Xishua.gba.na. where the tra.sition point occurred ten yea.s la.er, the decline of na.ura. forest cover is still going on. These divergent trends underlying forest tra.sition a.e concea.ed by the continued pra.tice to a.ply the term "forest" broa.ly, without distinguishing between na.ura. forests a.d pla.ted *** to the use of undiscrimina.ing terminology, the loss of na.ura. forest ma. go unnoticed, increa.ing the risk of pla.ta.ion forests displa.ing na.ura. forests in the course of forest tra.sition. Our findings a.e importa.t for progra.s rela.ed to forest ma.a.ement a.d ecosystem services improvement, including reforesta.ion a.d Pa.ments for Ecosystem Services progra.s.

The excursion formed on a. lea.t four continents in low(≤32°) pa.a.ola.itudes, a.d in China.is a.socia.ed with a.ma.or phosphogenic event. Globa. a.d intra.a.ina. correla.ion, ma.netostra.igra.hy, isotope conglomera.e tests a.d further geochemica. da.a.a.e consistent with a.prima.y or syn-depositiona. origin for the excursion. Continenta.-ma.gin phosphorites a.e genera.ed by ocea.ic upwelling driven by surfa.e winds, a.d δ^(13)C_(ca.b) nega.ive a.oma.ies a.e explica.le by ocea.ic upwelling of 13 C-depleted deep ocea.ic wa.ers, a.guing tha. a.fea.ure common to these exceptiona. Edia.a.a. events wa. unprecedented perturba.ion of the world ocea.. These events occurred during the tra.sition from a. a.ien Proterozoic world ma.ked by low-pa.a.ola.itude gla.ia.ion nea. sea.level a.d strong sea.ona.ity to the fa.ilia. Pha.erozoic Ea.th with circum-pola. gla.ia.ion a.d tempera.e clima.e, suggesting tha. the Shura.-Wonoka.excursion is rela.ed to this profound cha.ge in Ea.th's clima.e system. Of va.ious hypotheses for Proterozoic low-pa.a.ola.itude gla.ia.ion, only the high obliquity(>54°) hypothesis, which posits secula. decrea.e in obliquity to nea. the present-da. va.ue(23.5°) during the Edia.a.a., predicts a. unpa.a.leled revolution in the Edia.a.a. world ocea.. The obliquity controls the sense of the world ocea.'s meridiona. overturning circula.ion, which toda. is driven by the sinking of cold, dense wa.er a. the poles a.d upwelling driven by zona. surfa.e *** the decrea.ing obliquity pa.sed the critica. va.ue of 54° during the Edia.a.a. the meridiona. tempera.ure gra.ient reversed, with the equa.or becoming wa.mer tha. the poles a.d Ha.ley lowla.itude(a.mospheric zona. circula.ion reversing.
