Arsenic methylation and microbial communities in paddy soils under alternating anoxic and oxic conditions

Arsenic(As)methylation in soils affects the environmental behavior of As,excessive accumulation of dimethylarsenate(DmA)in rice plants leads to straighthead disease and a serious drop in crop *** the mobility and transformation of methylated arsenic in redox-changing paddy fields is crucial for food ***,soils including unarsenic contaminated(N-As),low-arsenic(L-As),medium-arsenic(m-As),and high-arsenic(H-As)soils were incubated under continuous anoxic,continuous oxic,and consecutive anoxic/oxic treatments respectively,to profile arsenic methylating process and microbial species involved in the As *** anoxic-oxic(A-O)treatment,methylated arsenic was significantly increased once oxygen was introduced into the incubation *** methylated arsenic concentrations were up to 2-24 times higher than those in anoxic(A),oxic(O),and oxic-anoxic(O-A)treatments,under which arsenic was methylated slightly and then decreased in all four As concentration *** fact,the most plentiful arsenite S-adenosylmethionine methyltransferase genes(arsm)contributed to the increase in As ***(40.8%-62.4%),Firmicutes(3.5%-15.7%),and Desulfobacterota(5.3%-13.3%)were the major microorganisms related to this *** microbial increasedmarkedly and played more important roles after oxygen was introduced,indicating that they were potential keystone microbial groups for As methylation in the alternating anoxic(flooding)and oxic(drainage)*** novel findings provided newinsights into the reoxidation-driven arsenic methylation processes and the model could be used for further risk estimation in periodically flooded paddy fields.

Rational modulation of fluorophosphate cathode by anionic groups to reduce the polarization behavior for fast-charging sodium-ion batteries

Na_(3)V_(2)(PO_(4))_(2)O_(2)F (VP) is recognized as a promising cathode material for sodium-ion batteries due to its stable structural framework and high specific *** functional theory (DFT) and finite element simulations show that incorporating SO_(4)^(2-)into VP decreases its band gap,lowers the migration energy barrier,and ensures a uniform Na+concentration gradient and stress distribution during charge and discharge ***,the average Na+diffusion coefficient of Na_(3)V_(2)(PO_(4))_(1.95)(SO_(4))_(0.05)O_(2)F(VPS-1) is roughly double that of VP,leading to enhanced rate capability (80 C,75.5 mAh g^(-1)) and cycling stability (111.0 mAh g^(-1)capacity after 1000 cycles at 10 C current density) for ***-1 exhibits outstanding fast-charging capabilities,achieving an 80%state of charge in just 8.1 *** assembled VPS-1//SbSn/NPC full cell demonstrated stable cycling over 200 cycles at a high 5 C current,maintaining an average coulombic efficiency of 95.35%.

Convertible hydrogel supercapacitors have emerged as promising energy storage devices in switches,diodes,and ***,inherent weaknesses in ionic conductivity,mechanical properties,and water retention of hydrogel electrolytes seriously hinder their *** by the hardness conversion of sea cucumber skin,a conductivity and mechanics dual-tunable salt gel electrolyte is successfully *** salt gel presents a reversible switching of conductors-insulators and a mechanical regulation between softness and hardness via the dissolution-crystallization transition of sodium acetate trihydrate(SAT).meanwhile,the salt gels spontaneously grow a layer of“armor”through saturated phase-change salt crystals effectively reducing water evaporation of hydrogel ***,this phase-change soft-rigid conversion strategy will expand the capabilities of gel-based flexible supercapacitors(area capacitance:258.6 mF cm^(-2)),and the capacitance retention rate could still reach 86.9%after 3000 cycles at high ***,the salt gel supercapacitor is potentially used in over-heat alarm *** is anticipated that the strategy of conductivity and mechanics of dual-tunable salt gel would provide a new perspective on the development of energy storage devices,wearable electronics,and flexible robots.

Experimental Research on a Feasible Building Insulation material Based Reed in China

The seemingly useless reeds are prepared as thermal insulation materials,which not only meet the requirements of environmental sustainability but also enhance the added value of reeds,creating new economic *** hydrophobicity of raw biomass surfaces leads to problems such as weak bonding strength and non-dense structure in the formed materials,as well as issues related to the residual insect infestations on the *** this study,reed straw was used as the raw material,and foamed geopolymer was used as the binder to prepare building insulation materials based *** improve the interfacial adhesion performance between reed straw and foamed geopolymer,a thermochemical modification method-thermal carbonization,was *** this study,the mechanical properties and hydraulic properties of the studied materials with different degrees of surface thermal modification were tested,especially the fire resistance performance,and weathering resistance performance rarely found in published *** the surface thermal modification condition of reed straw was 250℃（30 min）,the comprehensive performance of reed-based building insulation materials was the best,when the studied material density was 321.3 kg/m3;the compressive strength was 0.59 mPa;the thermal conductivity was 0.101 W/（m·K）;the pH was 11.27;the moisture absorption rate was 25.1%,and the compressive strength loss rate in wet-dry cycles was 18.5%.In addition,it had excellent fire resistance performance and weathering resistance *** new material can be widely used to improve the thermal insulation of traditional buildings and as sandwich filler in prefabricated buildings,such as preparing insulating walls.

Numerical simulation for large baseline interferometric imaging altimeter

Sea topography information holds significant importance in oceanic research and the climate change detection. Radar imaging altimetry has emerged as the leading approach for global ocean observation,employing synthetic aperture radar(SAR) interferometry to enhance the spatial resolution of Sea topography. Nevertheless, current payload capacity and satellite hardware limitations prevent the extension of the interferometric baseline by enlarging the physical antenna size. This constraint hinders achieving centimeter-level accuracy in interferometric altimetry. To address this challenge, we conducted a numerical simulation to assess the viability of a large baseline interferometric imaging altimeter(LB-IIA). By controlling the baseline within the range of 600-1000 m through spiral orbit design in two satellites and mitigating baseline de-correlation with the carrier frequency shift(CFS) technique, we aimed to overcome the above limitations. Our findings demonstrate the efficacy of the CFS technique in compensating for baseline decoherence, elevating coherence from less than 0.1 to over 0.85. Concurrently. The height difference accuracy between neighboring sea surfaces reaches 1 cm within a 1 km resolution. This study is anticipated to serve as a foundational reference for future interferometric imaging altimeter development, catering to the demand for high-precision sea topography data in accurate global bathymetry inversion.

Long-duration aqueous Zn-ion batteries achieved by dual-salt highly-concentrated electrolyte with low water activity

Aqueous Zn-ion batteries have attracted much attention due to their unique high safety and low-cost ***,their practical applications are at a slow pace due to their short cycle life,which fundamentally results from the instability of the positive/negative electrode interface in the traditional dilute aqueous electrolytes with high water *** highly concentrated electrolyte（HCE）has been considered as an effective *** previous studies of single salt-based HCE（SSHCE）,herein,a new dual-salt HCE（15 m ZnCl2+10 m NH4NH2SO3DS-HCE） was proposed for the first ***-HCE was proven to simultaneously possess higher conductivity than traditional dilute electrolytes and ultralow water activity of SS-HCE by the regulation of dual high-concentration salts on the solvation structure,which renders the Zn‖Zn symmetric cell the record-long cycling life of 2200 h compared with those with SS-HCE（30 m ZnCl2,300 h） and other reported ***,the Zn‖NH4V4O10full cell with DS-HCE demonstrated impressed rate capability within a wide-range current densities from 0.1 to 10 A ***,at the high current density of 5 A g-1,the full cell shows almost100% capacity retention after 4000 cycles,which indicates the promising future of the DS-HCE system for long-duration aqueous Zn-ion batteries.

Functional ternary salt construction enabling an in-situ Li3N/LiF-enriched interface for ultra-stable all-solid-state lithium metal batteries

Poly（ethylene oxide）-based polymer all-solid-state lithium metal batteries（ASSLBs） have received widespread attention due to their low cost,good process ability,and high energy ***,the growth of Li dendrites within polymer solid-state electrolytes damages the reversibility of Li anodes and still impedes their widespread *** efficient strategy is to construct a superior solid electrolyte ***,a stable interface enriched with Li3N and LiF is in-situ formed between Li anode and a terna ry salt *** terna ry salt electrolyte is innovatively designed by introducing lithium bis（trifluoromethane sulfonyl）imide（LiTFSI）,lithium bis（fluorosulfonyl）imide（LiFSI）,and LiNO3to poly（ethylene oxide） *** characterization indicates that LiNO3and LiFSI contribute to forming a Li3N-LiF-enriched interface and meanwhile LiTFSI ensures excellent ***,among various Li compound components,Li3N has high ionic conductivity,which is beneficial for reducing overpotential,while LiF has high interfacial energy which can enhance nucleation energy and suppress the formation of Li *** experimental results show that ASSLBs coupled with LiFePO4cathode display extremely excellent cycle stability approximately 2200 cycles at 2 C,with a final and corresponding discharge specific capacity of 96.7 mA h g-1. Additionally,a schematic illustration of the working mechanism for the Li3N-LiF interface is proposed.

Engineering nanoparticle structure at synergistic Ru-Na interface for integrated CO_(2)capture and hydrogenation

The development of dual functional material for cyclic CO_(2)capture and hydrogenation is of great significance for converting diluted CO_(2)into valuable fuels,but suffers from kinetic limitation and deactivation of adsorbent and ***,we engineered a series of RuNa/γ-Al_(2)O_(3)materials,varying the size of ruthenium from single atoms to clusters/*** coordination environment and structure sensitivity of ruthenium were quantitatively investigated at atomic *** findings reveal that the reduced Ru nanoparticles,approximately 7.1 nm in diameter with a Ru-Ru coordination number of 5.9,exhibit high methane formation activity and selectivity at 340°*** Ru-Na interfacial sites facilitate CO_(2)migration through a deoxygenation pathway,involving carbonate dissociation,carbonyl formation,and ***-situ experiments and theoretical calculations show that stable carbonyl intermediates on metallic Ru nanoparticles facilitate heterolytic C–O scission and C–H bonding,significantly lowering the energy barrier for activating stored CO_(2).

metrological traceable calibration of organic carbon and elemental carbon based on laboratory-generated reference materials

Carbonaceous aerosol,including organic carbon(OC)and elemental carbon(EC),has significant influence on human health,air quality and climate *** measurement of carbonaceous aerosol is essential to reduce the uncertainty of radiative forcing estimation and source *** accurate separation of OC and EC is controversial due to the charring of ***,the development of reference materials(Rm)for the validation of OC/EC separation is an important basis for further *** Rms were mainly based on ambient air sampling,which could not provide traceability of OC and EC *** develop traceable Rms with known OC/EC contents,our study applied an improved aerosol generation and mixing technique,providing uniform deposition of particles on quartz *** generate OC aerosol with similar pyrolytic property of ambient aerosol,both water soluble organic carbon(WSOC)and water insoluble organic carbon(WIOC)were used,and amorphous carbon was selected for EC *** Rms were analyzed using different *** homogeneity within the filter was validated,reaching below 2%.The long-term stability of Rms has been validated with RSD ranged from 1.7%–3.2%.Good correlationwas observed between nominal concentration of Rmswithmeasured concentration by two protocols,while the difference of EC concentration was within 20%.The results indicated that the newly developed Rms were acceptable for the calibration of OC and EC,which could improve the accuracy of carbonaceous aerosol ***,the laboratory-generated EC-Rms could be suitable for the calibration of equivalent BC concentration by Aethalometers.

Evolution and generation mechanism of retained oil in lacustrine shales: A combined ReaxFF-mD and pyrolysis simulation perspective

To accurately investigate the evolution characteristics and generation mechanism of retained oil, the study analyzed organic-rich lacustrine shale samples from the Paleogene Kongdian Formation in Cangdong Sag, Bohai Bay Basin. This analysis involves Rock-Eval pyrolysis, pyrolysis simulation experiments,Gas Chromatograph mass Spectrometer（GC-mS）, and reactive molecular dynamics simulations（Reax FF）. The results revealed the retained oil primarily consisted of n-alkanes with carbon numbers ranging from C14to C36. The generation of retained oil occurred through three stages. A slow growth stage of production rate was observed before reaching the peak of oil production in Stage I. Stage II involved a rapid increase in oil retention, with C12-C17and C24-C32serving as the primary components,increasing continuously during the pyrolysis process. The generation process involved the cleavage of weak bonds, including bridging bonds（hydroxyl, oxy, peroxy, imino, amino, and nitro）, ether bonds, and acid amides in the first stage（Ro= 0.50%-0.75%）. The carbon chains in aromatic ring structures with heteroatomic functional groups breaks in the second stage（Ro= 0.75%-1.20%）. In the third stage（Ro= 1.20%-2.50%）, the ring structures underwent ring-opening reactions to synthesize iso-short-chain olefins and radicals, while further breakdown of aliphatic chains occurred. By coupling pyrolysis simulation experiments and molecular simulation technology, the evolution characteristics and bond breaking mechanism of retained oil in three stages were revealed, providing a reference for the formation and evolution mechanism of retained oil.
