Predictability of the upper ocean heat content in a Community Earth System model ensemble prediction system

Upper ocean heat content(OHC)has been widely recognized as a crucial precursor to high-impact climate variability,especially for that being indispensable to the long-term memory of the *** the predictability of OHC using state-of-the-art climate models is invaluable for improving and advancing climate *** developed retrospective forecast experiments,based on a Community Earth System model ensemble prediction system,offer a great opportunity to comprehensively explore OHC *** results indicate that the skill of actual OHC predictions varies across different oceans and diminishes as the lead time of prediction *** spatial distribution of the actual prediction skill closely resembles the corresponding persistence skill,indicating that the persistence of OHC serves as the primary predictive signal for its *** decline in actual prediction skill is more pronounced in the Indian and Atlantic oceans than in the Pacific Ocean,particularly within tropical ***,notable seasonal variations in the actual prediction skills across different oceans align well with the phase-locking features of OHC *** potential predictability of OHC generally surpasses the actual prediction skill at all lead times,highlighting significant room for improvement in current OHC predictions,especially for the North Indian Ocean and the Atlantic *** such improvements necessitates a collaborative effort to enhance the quality of ocean observations,develop effective data assimilation methods,and reduce model bias.

Novel Sum-of-Sinusoids Simulation Channel modeling for 6G multiple-Input multiple-Output Vehicle-to-Everything Communications

In this paper,a statistical cluster-based simulation channel model with a finite number of sinusoids is proposed for depicting the multiple-input multiple-output(mImO)communications in vehicleto-everything(V2X)*** the proposed sum-of-sinusoids(SoS)channel model,the waves that emerge from the transmitter undergo line-of-sight(LoS)and non-line-of-sight(NLoS)propagation to the receiver,which makes the model suitable for describing numerous V2X wireless communication scenarios for sixth-generation(6G).We derive expressions for the real and imaginary parts of the complex channel impulse response(CIR),which characterize the physical propagation characteristics of V2X wireless *** statistical properties of the real and imaginary parts of the complex CIRs,i.e.,autocorrelation functions(ACFs),Doppler power spectral densities(PSDs),cross-correlation functions(CCFs),and variances of ACFs and CCFs,are derived and *** results are generated and match those predicted by the underlying theory,demonstrating the accuracy of our derivation and *** proposed framework and underlying theory arise as an efficient tool to investigate the statistical properties of 6G mImO V2X communication systems.

A high Li-ion diffusion kinetics in multidimensional and compact-structured electrodes via vacuum filtration casting

manufacturing process,diffusion co-efficient and areal capacity are the three main criteria for regulating thick electrodes for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs).However,simultaneously regulating these criteria for LIBs is desirable but remains a significant *** this work,niobium pentoxide(Nb_(2)O_(5))anode and lithium iron phosphate(LiFePO_(4))cathode materials were chosen as the model materials and demonstrate that these three parameters can be simultaneously modulated by incorporation of micro-carbon fibers(mCF)and carbon nanotubes(CNT)with both Nb_(2)O_(5) and LFP via vacuum filtration *** as-prepared mNC-20 anode and mLC-20 cathode achieves high reversible areal capacity of≈5.4 m A h cm^(-2)@0.1 C and outstanding Li-ion diffusion coefficients of≈10~(-8)cm~2 s~(-1)in the half-cell *** assembled mNC-20‖mLC-20 full cell LIB delivers maximum energy and power densities of244.04 W h kg^(-1)and 108.86 W kg^(-1),*** excellent electrochemical properties of the asprepared thick electrodes can be attributed to the highly conductive,mechanical compactness and multidimensional mutual effects of the mCF,CNT and active materials that facilitates rapid Li-ion diffusion ***,electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS),symmetric cells analysis,and insitu Raman techniques clearly validates the enhanced Li-ion diffusion kinetics in the present architecture.

Comprehensive Summary,The asymmetric partial reduction of 1,3-diketones stands as a straightforward pathway to access optically active β-hydroxyketones. In this paper, an asymmetric Piers-type hydrosilylation of 2,2-difluoro-1,3-diketones was successfully realized by using a frustrated Lewis pair of chiral borane and tricyclohexylphosphine as a catalyst, delivering a variety of α,α-difluoro-β-hydroxyketones in high yields with up to 99% ee. Significantly, no over-reduced diol products were observed even with an excess amount of silanes. The product can be conveniently converted to α,α-difluoro-β-hydroxyester or 1,3-anti-diol via an oxidation with m-CPBA or a reduction with DIBAL-H without obvious loss of ee.

Rapid prediction of damaged ship roll motion responses in beam waves based on stacking algorithm

Accurate modeling for highly non-linear coupling of a damaged ship with liquid sloshing in waves is still of considerable interest within the computational fluid dynamics(CFD)and AI *** paper describes a data-driven Stacking algorithm for fast prediction of roll motion response amplitudes in beam waves by constructing a hydrodynamics model of a damaged ship based on the dynamic overlapping grid CFD *** general idea is to optimize various parameters varying with four types of classical base models like multi-layer perception,support vector regression,random forest,and hist gradient boosting *** offers several attractive properties in terms of accuracy and efficiency by choosing the standard DTmB 5415 model with double damaged compartments for *** is clearly demonstrated that the predicted response amplitude operator(RAO)in the regular beam waves agrees well with the experimental data available,which verifies the accuracy of the established damaged ship hydrodynamics *** high-quality CFD samples,therefore,implementation of the designed Stacking algorithm with its optimal combination can predict the damaged ship roll motion amplitudes effectively and accurately(e.g.,the coefficient of determination 0.9926,the average absolute error 0.0955 and CPU 3s),by comparison of four types of typical base models and their various ***,the established Stacking algorithm provides one potential that can break through problems involving the time-consum.ng and low efficiency for large-scale lengthy CFD simulations.

Non-contact and full-field online monitoring of curing temperature during the in-situ heating process based on deep learning

Online monitoring of the curing temperature field is essential to improving the quality and efficiency of the manufacturing process of composite *** embedded sensor-based technologies have difficulty monitoring the full temperature field or have to introduce heterogeneous items that could have an undesired impact on the *** this paper,a non-contact,full-field monitoring method based on deep learning that predicts the internal temperature field of composite parts in real time using surface temperature measurements of auxiliary materials is *** the proposed method,an average temperature monitoring accuracy of 97%is achieved in various heating *** addition,this method also demonstrates satisfying feasibility when a stronger thermal barrier covers the *** method was experimentally validated during the self-resistance electric heating process,in which the monitoring accuracy reached 93.1%.This method can potentially be applied to automated manufacturing and process control in the composites industry.

Copper-coated Porous Polyimide as Ultralight and Safe Current Collectors for Advanced LIBs

metallic copper is widely used as current collector(CC) for graphite anode of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs) due to its high electrical conductivity and electrochemical stability. However, the large volume density of commercial copper foil(~8.9 g·cm^(-3)) limits the increase of energy density of battery. Here, copper-coated porous polyimide(Cu@PPI) was prepared by vacuum evaporation as collector for the graphite anode. The sandwich structure connects the copper metal on both sides of the collector with excellent electrical conductivity. Compared to commercial Cu foil, Cu@PPI has lighter mass(≤3.9 mg for disc of 12 mm diameter versus 9.9 mg of ~10 μm Cu foil) and lower volume density(≤3.3 g·cm^(-3)). In addition, the porous structure allows of better adhesion of reactive substances and electrochemical properties than pure Cu foils. It is estimated that the energy density of Cu@PPI should be much higher than that of Cu foil. This strategy should be applicable for other current collectors.

Single atom catalysts(SACs)play a crucial role in energy catalysis due to their distinct coordination environment and high atomic utilization *** study focuses on the synthesis of a monatomic Cu catalyst with Cu-N1C1 coordination anchored to N-doped Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) mXene(Cu SA@N-Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x))to achieve efficient reduction of CO_(2) to *** characterization,including morphology and multispectral analysis,confirmed the uniform distribution of asymmetrically coordinated Cu atoms in unsaturated C-Cu-N bridge fragments on Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x).The Cu SA@N-Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) catalyst exhibited an excellent CO selectivity with Faraday efficiency of 97.4%at-0.58 V *** hydrogen electrode(RHE)and satisfactory *** in situ X-ray absorption fine structure(XAFS)results confirmed that the carbon dioxide reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR)product distribution is mainly affected by potential-dependent valence change of Cu *** findings highlight the extensive potential of tuning coordination structure of mXene-based single-atom catalysts for CO_(2) reduction reactions.

Impact pressure of waves generated by landslides on bank slopes

Impulse waves that are generated by landslides in narrow reservoir areas threaten the stability of buildings and bank *** discuss the action process and evolution law of the wave pressure on bank slopes,a three-dimensional physical model test that considers impulse waves generated by landslides was performed,and factors including landslide width,thickness,slope angles of the sliding surface,and bank slope angle were *** on wave forms on the bank slopes,wave pressure curve characteristics,and peak value,the action process of wave pressure could be divided into the following stages:maximum pulsating pressure stage,wave impact stage(when waves break),and stationary pulsation *** was found that wave breaking is dependent on the value of the surf similarity parameterξ.The distribution pattern of impact pressure decays linearly on both sides of the maximum impact pressure point,and the attenuation degree decreases when it attains 40%of the maximum ***,it is proposed that the prediction formula for the maximum effective impact pressure of the bank slope be related to the reciprocal of wave steepness,relative water depth,and slope *** prediction formula provides strong theoretical support for early safety warning and for predicting the bank slope under impulse waves generated by landslides.
