Tight focusing with very small f-numbers is necessary to achieve the highest at-focus ***,tight focusing imposes strong demands on precise target positioning in-focus to achieve the highest on-target irradiance We describe several near-infrared,visible,ultraviolet and soft and hard X-ray diagnostics employed in a~10^(22)W/cm^(2)laser±plasma *** used nearly 10 J total energy femtosecond laser pulses focused into an approximately1.3-μm focal spot on 5±20μm thick stainless-steel *** discuss the applicability of these diagnostics to determine the best in-focus target position with approximately 5μm accuracy(i.e.,around half of the short Rayleigh length)and show that several diagnostics(in particular,3ωreflection and on-axis hard X-rays)can ensure this *** demonstrated target positioning within several micrometers from the focus,ensuring over 80%of the ideal peak laser intensity *** approach is relatively fast(it requires 10±20 laser shots)and does not rely on the coincidence of low-power and high-power focal planes.

Prevalence and intensity of urinary schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminths among women of reproductive age in mwaluphamba,Kwale

Objective:To assess the epidemiology of urinary schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminthiasis among women of reproductive age in mwaluphamba,Kwale County,***:A community-based cross-sectional study design was employed to randomly sample 422 women of reproductive age(15-m four villages in mwaluphamba *** specimens were collected and examined using the kato-Katz method,while filtration technique was used to analyze urine ***’sociodemographic details were obtained using a standardized ***:Urinary schistosomiasis prevalence was at 4.7%(20/422,95%CI 2.8%-6.9%)while the prevalence of soil-transmitted helminthiasis infection was 4.5%(19/422,95%CI 2.6%-6.7%).The infection intensities of urinary schistosomiasis among the study participants ranged from 1 to 120 eggs/10 mL of urine with median egg count of 18.45 eggs/10 *** patients were diagnosed with light infection,of 56.16 egg/gram and 48.48 egg/gram for Trichuris trichiura and hookworms,*** without latrines had 15.7 times higher risk of having urinary schistosomiasis compared to those with a ***,use of surface water(aOR=1.0,95%CI 0.2-1.4,P=0.010)and crossing the river to go to a place(aOR=1.1,95%CI 0.3-1.6,P=0.009)were statistically significant risk factors for getting urinary *** bivariable regression analysis,defecating around the water source(OR=4.3,95%CI 1.5-12.9)had a statistically significant association with the prevalence of soil-transmitted helminthiasis(P=0.008).Conclusions:This study has given an insight on the prevalence and intensity of urinary schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminthiasis in mwaluphamba location that form a basis for strengthening the control and elimination programmes for these neglected tropical diseases.

Protective effect of Irsogladine on monochloramineinduced gastric mucosallesions in rats:a comparative study with rebamipide

AIm To examine the effect of irsogladine, a novel antiulcer drug, on the mucosal ulcerogenic response to monochloramine (NH 2Cl) in rat stomach, in comparison with rebamipide, another antiulcer drug with cytoprotective activity. mETHODS AND RESULTS Oral administration of NH 2Cl (120*!mm) produced severe hemorrhagic lesions in unanesthetized rat stomachs. Both irsogladine ( 1*!mg/*!kg - 10*!mg/*!kg , po ) and rebamipide ( 30*!mg/*!kg - 100*!mg/*!kg , po ) dose dependently prevented the development of these lesions in response to NH 2Cl, the effect of irsogladine was significant at 3*!mg/*!kg or greater, and that of rebamipide only at 100*!mg/*!kg . The protective effect of irsogladine on NH 2Cl induced gastric lesions was significantly reduced by N G nitro L arginine methyl ester (L NAmE) but not by indomethacin, while that of rebamipide was significantly mitigated by indomethacin but not by L NAmE. Topical application of NH 2Cl (20*!mm) caused a marked reduction of potential difference (PD) in ex vivo stomachs. This PD reduction was not affected by mucosal application of irsogladine, but significantly prevented by rebamipide. The mucosal exposure to NH 4OH (120*!mm) also caused a marked PD reduction in the ischemic stomach (bleeding from the carotid artery), resulting in gastric lesions. These ulcerogenic and PD responses caused by NH 4OH plus ischemia were also significantly mitigated by rebamipide, in an indomethacin sensitive manner, while irsogladine potently prevented such lesions without affecting the PD response, in a L NAmE sensitive manner. CONCLUSION These results suggest that ① NH 2Cl generated either exogenously or endogenously damages the gastric mucosa, ② both irsogladine and rebamipide protect the stomach against injury caused by NH 2Cl, and ③ the mechanism underlying the protective action of irsogladine is partly mediated by endogenous nitric oxide, while that of rebamipide is in part mediated by endogenous prostaglandins.

Tests with two different sized models were conducted in the marine Propeller Cavitation Tunnel at the Univer- sity of *** two angles of attack the developed sheet-cloud and bubble cavitation *** pattern was recorded by pure indium specimens and noise was measured with a hydrophone mounted inside the *** broadband SPL was mainly used for correlation of noise with pit counting results from *** case of sheet- cloud cavitation power law relations between velocity and SPL have been found and there existed a linear relation- ship between SPL values and IgPR values(PR-pitting rate).However in case of bubble cavitation such power law relation does not exist between pitting rate and velocity,and neither between SPL and *** was noticed that the different trends of SPL for these two different types of cavitation could be qualitatively linked to their pitting rates by using some SPL values at high center frequencies.

Benchmark Integral Cross Sections for Electron Impact Excitation of the n=2 States in Helium

In this paper, we present integral cross sections （ICS） for electron impact excitation of the n = 2 levels in helium in the impact energy range of 23.5 eV to 35 eV. The ICS of each final state, 2^3S, 2^1S, 2^3P and 2^1P, has been determined by integration of the angular differential cross sections （DCS） over all of 0° to 180°, where those DCS were obtained from both our previous experiments and the extrapolation using the convergent close coupling calculation. The present experimental ICS for the optically allowed 21P transition state are also compared with those obtained from the BE f-scaling method. Very good agreement between the experimental and BE f-scaled 21P ICSs is generally found in the measured impact energy region.

Non-equiatomic high entropy bulk metallic glasses were reported recently and show unique mechanical and physical *** mechanical relaxation behavior of Zr_(35)Hf_(17.5)Ti_(5.5)Al_(12.5)Co_(7.5)Ni_(12)Cu_(10)high entropy bulk metallic glass was investigated by dynamic mechanical analysis(DmA)and the mechanical spectra could be well described by the quasi-point defects(QPD)*** to typical metallic glasses,the intensity of theβrelaxation of Zr_(35)Hf_(17.5)Ti_(5.5)Al_(12.5)Co_(7.5)Ni_(12)Cu_(10)high entropy bulk metallic glass is lower due to the sluggish *** the same time,the correlation factor is higher than that of conventional metallic glasses and this is ascribed to the high configuration *** parallel,physical aging below the glass transition temperature leads to a decrease of atomic mobility,caused by a decrease of the concentration of defects.
