magnitude and direction of temperature variability affect hospitalization for myocardial infarction and stroke:population-based evidence from Guangzhou,China

Relationships between nonoptimal temperatures and cardiovascular disease(CVD)mortality have been well ***,evidence of the association between temperature variability(TV)and CVD morbidity is *** study aimed to quantify the risk and burden of CVD-related hospitalization associated with the magnitude and direction of *** on meteorology and population-based hospitalizations for myocardial infarction(mI)and stroke were collected in Guangzhou,China,from 2013 to *** temperature variability(HTV)was measured as the standard deviation of hourly temperature records over specific exposure *** direction(upward or downward)of HTV was defined as the average daily mean temperature change relative to that of the previous day during the exposure ***-Poisson regression was applied to assess the impact of HTV after adjusting for the daily mean temperature,and the hospitalization fractions attributable to HTV were calculated.A 1℃-increase in HTV was significantly associated with a 2.24%and 1.72%increase in hospitalizations for mI and hemorrhagic stroke(HS)at lag 0–1 d,respectively,and a 1.55%increase in hospitalizations for ischemic stroke(IS)at lag 0–3 *** the study period,5.99%,4.64%,and 4.53%of mI,HS,and IS hospitalizations,respectively,were attributable to *** upward TV exerts acute effects on CVD hospital admissions,whereas the impact of downward TV generally *** findings highlight the importance of the magnitude and direction of temperature fluctuations,in addition to the mean level,in assessing the adverse health impacts of temperature variations.

Effect of nano-graphite on mechanical properties and oxidation resistance of ZrB_(2)-SiC-graphite electrode ceramics

Development of an automatic measurement system using atmospheric pressure photoionization ultrahigh-resolution mass spectrometry and application for on-line analysis of particulate matter

On-line chemical characterization of atmospheric particulate matter(Pm)with soft ionization technique and ultrahigh-resolution mass Spectrometry(UHRmS)provides molecular information of organic constituents in real *** we describe the development and application of an automatic measurement system that incorporates Pm_(2.5)sam.ling,thermal desorption,atmospheric pressure photoionization,and UHRmS *** formulas of detected organic compounds were deducted from the accurate(±10 ppm)molecular weights obtained at a mass resolution of 100,000,allowing the identification of small organic compounds in Pm_(2.5).Detection efficiencies of 28 standard compounds were determined and we found a high sensitivity and selectivity towards organic amines with limits of detection below 10 *** a proof of principle,Pm_(2.5)samples collected off-line in winter in the urban area of Beijing were analyzed using the Ionization module and HRmS of the *** automatic system was then applied to conduct on-line measurements during the summer time at a time resolution of 2 *** detected organic compounds comprised mainly CHON and CHN compounds below 350 m/*** seasonal variations in elemental composition were observed with shorter carbon backbones and higher O/C ratios in summer than that in *** result is consistent with stronger photochemical reactions and thus a higher oxidation state of organics in *** variation in signal intensity of each formula provides crucial information to reveal its source and formation *** summary,the automatic measurement system serves as an important tool for the on-line characterization and identification of organic species in Pm_(2.5).

Fabrication of Bio-inspired Superamphiphobic Aluminum Alloy Surface with Oil-triggered Wenzel-Slippery Transition via Femtosecond Laser

Surface-tension-confined microfluidic devices are platforms for manipulating 2D droplets based on patterned surfaces with special *** have great potential for various applications,but are still in the early stages of development and face some challenges that need to be *** study,inspired by the Wenzel and slippery transition of rose petal,develops a Patterned Oil-triggered Wenzel-slippery Surface(POWS)to examine the microfluidic devices.A laser-chemical composite method is established to fabricate POWSs,which take rose-petal-like microstructures as wettability pattern and a superamphiphobic surface as the *** prepared POWSs switched between high adhesion superhydrophobic state and the slippery liquid-infused surface state through adding or removing the lubricant *** the high adhesion superhydrophobic state,the droplets can be sticked on the *** the slippery liquid-infused state,the droplet can slide along the wettability pattern as the designed route.A POWS-based droplet reactor is further constructed,on which,the droplets can be remotely controlled to move,mix and react,as *** a POWS,which manipulates droplets with surface tension controlled by the switchable wettability patterns,would be a promising candidate to construct multiple surface-tension-confined microfluidic *** addition,the fabrication technique and design principle proposed here may aid the development of various field related to the bio-inspired surfaces,such as water collection,desalination and high throughput analysis,etc.

machine learning solution for regional landslide susceptibility based on fault zone division strategy

Landslide susceptibility assessment is an essential tool for disaster prevention and management. In areas with multiple fault zones, the impact of fault zone on slope stability cannot be disregarded. This study performed qualitative analysis of fault zones and proposed a zoning method to assess the landslide susceptibility in Chengkou County, Chongqing municipality, China. The region within a distance of 1 km from the faults was designated as sub-zone A, while the remaining area was labeled as sub-zone B. To accomplish the assessment, a dataset comprising 388 historical landslides and 388 non-landslide points was used to train the random forest model. 10-fold cross-validation was utilized to select the training and testing datasets for the model. The results of the models were analyzed and discussed, with a focus on model performance and prediction uncertainty. By implementing the proposed division strategy based on fault zone, the accuracy, precision, recall, F-score, and AUC of both two sub-zones surpassed those of the whole region. In comparison to the results obtained for the whole region, sub-zone B exhibited an increase in AUC by 6.15%, while sub-zone A demonstrated a corresponding increase of 1.66%. moreover, the results of 100 random realizations indicated that the division strategy has little effect on the prediction uncertainty. This study introduces a novel approach to enhance the prediction accuracy of the landslide susceptibility mapping model in areas with multiple fault zones.

Scintillators are widely utilized in high-energy radiation detection in view of their high light yield and short fluorescence decay ***,constrained by their current shortcomings,such as complex fabrication procedures,high temperature,and difficulty in the large scale,it is difficult to meet the increasing demand for costeffective,flexible,and environment-friendly X-ray detection using traditional ***-related cesium copper halide scintillators have recently received multitudinous research due to their tunable emission wavelength,high photoluminescence quantum yield(PLQY),and excellent optical ***,we demonstrated a facile solution-synthesis route for indium-doped all-inorganic cesium copper iodide(Cs_(3)Cu_(2)I_(5))powders and a high scintillation yield flexible film utilizing indium-doped Cs_(3)Cu_(2)I_(5)*** large area flexible films achieved a PLQY as high as 90.2%by appropriately adjusting the indium doping concentration,much higher than the undoped one(73.9%).moreover,benefiting from low self-absorption and high PLQY,the Cs_(3)Cu_(2)I_(5):In films exhibited ultralow detection limit of 56.2 n Gy/s,high spatial resolution up to 11.3 lp/mm,and marvelous relative light output with strong stability,facilitating that Cs_(3)Cu_(2)I_(5):In films are excellent candidates for X-ray medical *** work provides an effective strategy for developing environment-friendly,low-cost,and efficient scintillator films,showing great potential in the application of highperformance X-ray imaging.

CmKLR1 senses chemerin/resolvin E1 to control adipose thermogenesis and modulate metabolic homeostasis

Induction of beige fat for thermogenesis is a potential therapy to improve homeostasis against obesity.β3-adrenoceptor(β3-AR),a type of G protein-coupled receptor(GPCR),is believed to mediate the thermogenesis of brown fat in ***,β3-AR has low expression in human adipose tissue,precluding its activation as a standalone clinical *** study aimed at identifying a potential GPCR target to induce beige *** found that chemerin chemokine-like receptor 1(CmKLR1),one of the novel GPCRs,mediated the development of beige fat via its two ligands,chemerin and resolvin E1(RvE1).The RvE1 levels were decreased in the obese mice,and RvE1 treatment led to a substantial improvement in obese features and augmented beige fat ***,despite sharing the same receptor as RvE1,the chemerin levels were increased in obesogenic conditions,and chemerin treatment led to an augmented obese phenotype and a decline of beige fat ***,RvE1 and chemerin induced or restrained the development of beige fat,respectively,via the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1(mTORC1)signaling *** further showed that RvE1 and chemerin regulated mTORC1 signaling differentially by forming hydrogen bonds with different binding sites of *** conclusion,our study showed that RvE1 and chemerin affected metabolic homeostasis differentially,suggesting that selectively modulating CmKLR1 may be a potential therapeutic target for restoring metabolic homeostasis.

Cr-assisted low-temperature densification of(Ti,Zr,Nb,Ta,mo)C high-entropy carbides with ultrafine grain and enhanced hardness

While the use of low-melting-point metals as sintering aids for high-entropy carbide(HEC)ceramics has been well established,their existence can compromise hardness due to residual metallic *** study demonstrates an innovative strategy to meet this challenge,where(Ti,Zr,Nb,Ta,mo)C high-entropy carbide ceramics with ultrafine grains and enhanced hardness are obtained through chromium(Cr)-metal-assisted spark plasma sintering(SPS)at a temperature as low as 1600℃.The results show that the addition of 5 vol%Cr promotes the formation of highly densified single HEC phase ceramics with a high relative density(98.4%)and an ultrafine-grained microstructure(0.17μm).This low-temperature densification mechanism can be attributed to Cr’s solid-solution effect within the matrix and the increased carbon vacancies generated during *** grain size of the(Ti,Zr,Nb,Ta,mo)C ceramics with 5 vol%Cr metal addition is significantly smaller than that of Cr-free(Ti,Zr,Nb,Ta,mo)C ceramics sintered at 2000℃(3.03μm)or via traditional low-temperature liquid-phase sintering(1.3–1.5μm).Importantly,the addition of 5 vol%Cr substantially increased the hardness of the ceramics,with a remarkable increase from 23.57 to 28.16 GPa compared to that of the pure(Ti,Zr,Nb,Ta,mo)C ceramics,owing to the fine-grain strengthening and solid-solution strengthening *** work highlights the uniqueness of Cr metal as a sintering aid in achieving densification and hardness improvements in(Ti,Zr,Nb,Ta,mo)C ceramics,offering a promising strategy for improving the properties of HEC materials for further development in the near future.
