Decay Analysis of Ge Isotopes Formed in Reactions Induced by Tightly and Loosely Bound Projectiles

The dynamical cluster-decay model (DCm) is employed to investigate the decay of ^(6870)Ge~* compound nuclei formed respectively via tightly (~4He) and loosely (~6He) bound projectiles, using ^(64)Zn target. The study is carried out over a wide energy range (E_(c.m.)～5 meV to 16 meV) by including the quadrupole deformations (β_(2i)) and optimum orientations (θ_i^(opt)) of the decaying fragments. The fusion cross-sections, obtained by adding various evaporation channels show nice agreement with the experimental data for ~4He+^(64)Zn reaction. The contribution from competing compound inelastic scattering channel is also analyzed particularly for ^(68)Ge~* nucleus at above barrier energies. On the other hand,the decrement in the fusion cross-sections of ^(70)Ge~* nuclear system is addressed by presuming that ^(65)Zn ER is formed via two different modes:(i) the αn evaporation of ^(70Ge)~* nucleus, and(ii) 1n-evaporation of ^(66)Zn~*nuclear system,formed via breakup and 2n-transfer channels due to halo structure of the ~6He projectile. Besides this, the suppression in2 np evaporation cross-sections suggests the contribution of another breakup and transfer process of ~6He i.e. ~4He+ ^(64)*** contribution of breakup+transfer channels for ~6He+^(64)Zn reaction is duly addressed by applying relevant energy corrections due to the breakup of "~6He" projectile into 2n and ~4He. In addition to this, the barrier lowering, angular momentum and energy dependence effects are also explored in view of the dynamics of chosen reactions.

Experimental investigation into transient pressure pulses during pneumatic conveying of fine powders using Shannon entropy

This paper presents the results of an ongoing investigation into transient pressure pulses using Shan- non entropy. Pressure fluctuations （produced by gas-solid two-phase flow during fluidized dense-phase conveying） are recorded by pressure transducers installed at strategic locations along a pipeline. This work validates previous work on identifying the flow mode from pressure signals （mittal, mallick, ＆ Wypych, 2014）. Two different powders, namely fly ash （median particle diameter 45 μm, particle den- sity 1950 kg/m3. loosely poured bulk density 950 kg/m3） and cement （median particle diameter 15 p,m, particle density 3060 kg/m3, loosely poured bulk density 1070 kg/m3）, are conveyed through different pipelines （51 mm I.D. × 70 m length and 63 mm I.D. × 24 m length）. The transient nature of pressure fluc- tuations （instead of steady-state behavior） is considered in investigating flow characteristics. Shannon entropy is found to increase along straight pipe sections for both solids and both pipelines. However, Shannon entropy decreases after a bend. A comparison of Shannon entropy among different ranges of superficial air velocity reveals that high Shannon entropy corresponds to very low velocities （i.e. 3-5 m/s） and very high velocities （i.e. 11-14 m/s） while low Shannon entropy corresponds to mid-range velocities （i.e. 6-8 m/s）.

Luminescence properties of near-UV excitable yellow-orange light emitting warm CaSrAl_2SiO_7:Sm^(3+) phosphors

Single-phase CaSrAl_2 SiO_7:Sm^(3+) phosphors were synthesized by traditional high temperature solid state reaction method. Formation of samples and phase analysis were confirmed by X-ray diffraction technique. morphology was done by field emission scanning electron microscopy and elemental compositions were confirmed by energy dispersive X-ray analysis. Present phosphors have tetragonal crystallography with space group P42_1 m. Average crystallite size was calculated by using Scherrer and Williamson-Hall method. Photoluminescence study of CaSrAl_2 SiO_7:Sm^(3+) phosphor was *** different excitation wavelengths, PL spectra consist of four emission bands at 564, 570, 601 and650 nm. The emission bands located at 564 and 570 nm are associated with the transition ~4 G_(5/2)→~6 H_(5/2)while emission bands at 601 and 650 nm are due to ~4 G_(5/2)→~6 H_(7/2) and ~4 G_(5/2)→~6 H_(9/2),*** emission was obtained when phosphor was excited under 404 nm wavelength. Non-radiative energy transfer process involved in concentration quenching, was also discussed. CIE coordinate is found in yellow-orange region, hence CaSrAl_2SiO_7:Sm^(3+) phosphors emit yellow-orange light when efficiently excited by near UV(～400 nm) LED chip. Color purity and CCT of the phosphor were determined; CCT suggests that present phosphor is a good candidate as a warm yellow-orange color emitting phosphor. Effect of different heating rates and different UV exposure time on the TL glow curve of the phosphor was investigated. Activation energies and kinetic parameters for different traps were calculated by using peak shape method. TL emission spectrum was also recorded. Present article explains all the possible mechanisms associated with luminescence process in CaSrAl_2 SiO_7:Sm^(3+) phosphors.

Comparative Finite Element Analysis of Jaipur Foot and Polyurethane Foot

FEA is amongst best methods that help users to solve complex problems. There are fixed number of nodes in each ele-ment of the model that define the element boundaries to which boundary condition and loads can be applied. The geo-metry of the structure, the load applications, stress and displacement gradients can be approximated in a accurate man-ner, if the mesh is finer. The problem with the foot was unusual cracks in JP Foot and early breakage of PU Foot due to crack propagation[1]. To solve this problem we modelled the foot using SolidWorks and performed FEA Analysis for single leg below knee amputee patients. After analysis, it has been concluded that JP Foot as compared to PU Foot has more stress bearing capacity but has less displacement threshold due to its material properties[2]. This work will lead to optimization of both the feet thus enhancing the durability of foot.

A catalyst-free new polyol method synthesized hot-pressed Cu-doped Bi2S3 nanorods and their thermoelectric properties

This is the first report on the thermoelectric properties of a catalyst-free polyol method used to prepare stoichiometric Bi2-xCuxS3 samples, x = 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, via hot pressing. Various systematic approaches to arrive at in their stoichiometric compositions are explored precisely with introduction of excess precursor of S. X-ray diffraction data analysis using Rietveld refinement confirms a polyhedral orthorhombic crystal structure with a space group Pnma, in contrast to Pbnm reported earlier. Raman data further substantiates this. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy confirms the valence states of the constituent elements （Bi^3＋, Cu^2＋, and S^2-） and energy dispersive X-ray analysis corroborates their compositions. The particle sizes of the pure Bi2S3 nanoparticles were 20, 35, and 82 nm as determined from the Scherrer formula, atomic force microscopy, and dynamic light scattering, respectively. Their transmission electron microscopy image shows rod-like nanostructures elongated in the 〈010〉 direction with an average diameter of 23 nm and a length of several hundreds of nanometers. A 34% improvement in the thermoelectric figure of merit is observed for Bi.6Cu0.4S3 as compared to pure Bi2S3 at 300 K.
