A new analytical method using Resacetophenone (RATP) modified SiO2 nanoparticles as solidphase extractant has been developed for the preconcentration of trace amounts of Cu(II) in different water samples. Conditions of the analysis such as preconcentration factor, effect of pH, sample volume, shaking time, elution conditions and effects of interfering ions for the recovery of analyte were investigated. The adsorption capacity of nanometer SiO2-RATP was found to be 61.50 μmol·g-1 at optimum pH and the detection limit (3σ) was 0.36 μg·L-1. The extractant showed rapid kinetic sorption. The adsorption equilibrium of Cu(II) on nanometer SiO2-RATP was achieved in 15 mins. Adsorbed Cu(II) was easily eluted with 5 mL of 4 m hydrochloric acid. The maximum preconcentration factor was 60. The method was applied for the determination of trace amounts of Cu(II) in various water and food samples.

The present work was undertaken to study the effects of 28-homobrassinolide on growth, stress markers, antioxidative enzyme [superoxide dismutase (EC 1.***.1.1), guaiacol peroxidase (EC 1.***.1.7), catalase (EC 1.***.1.6) ] activities and protein content in 10 days old seedlings of Brassica juncea L. treated with different degrees (4°C, 44°C) of temperature. 28-homobrassinolide at 10-9 m concentration lowered temperature stress. Different degrees of temperature treatment alone decreased the enzyme activities and protein concentration of seedlings. However, pre-sowing treatments of 28-homobrassinolide lowered the temperature stress and enhanced the contents of mDA and proline, activities of enzymes and protein concentration of seedlings.

Potato is the thirdmost important food crop in *** pathogens threaten sustainable crop production but can be controlled,in many cases,through the deployment of disease resistance genes belonging to the family of nucleotide-binding,leucine-rich-repeat(NLR)*** identify effective disease resistance genes in established varieties,we have successfully established SmRT-AgRenSeq in tetraploid potatoes and have further enhanced the methodology by including dRenSeq in an approach that we term *** inclusion of dRenSeq enables the filtering of candidates after the association analysis by establishing a presence/absence matrix across resistant and susceptible varieties that is translated into an F1 *** a SmRT-RenSeq-based sequence representation of the NLRome from the cultivar Innovator,SmRT-AgRenSeq-d analyses reliably identified the late blight resistance benchmark genes Rpi-R1,Rpi-R2-like,Rpi-R3a,and Rpi-R3b in a panel of 117 varieties with variable phenotype *** benchmark genes were identified with an F1 score of 1,which indicates absolute linkage in the *** method also identified nine strong candidates for Gpa5 that controls the potato cyst nematode(PCN)species Globodera pallida(pathotypes Pa2/3).Assuming that NLRs are involved in controlling many types of resistances,SmRT-AgRenSeq-d can readily be applied to diverse crops and pathogen systems.

Antimicrobial efficacy of three novel organic sanitizers, CHICO WashTm, C8C10 and CG100, was evaluated for the reduction of Escherichia coli O157:H7 during flume-washing of organic leafy greens. Organic formulations at various concentrations: CHICO (C3H8I0C3O7) WashTm (1:20 ratio) and C8C10 and CG100 (0.2 and 0.4%), along with the controls: hydrogen-peroxide and water, were used for washing organic baby and mature spinach and romaine and iceberg lettuce. Leafy greens were inoculated with a 2-strain cocktail of E. coli O157:H7 (6 logs CFU/mL) and washed in each treatment for 1 or 2 minutes. The treated leafy greens were stored at 4°C and surviving pathogen populations determined on days 0, 1, and 3 of storage. Organic sanitizers, for both treatment times, significantly (P E. coli O157:H7 on all the leafy greens during storage. Highest reduction (3.4 logs CFU/g) was observed after treatment with CG100 (0.4%) in romaine lettuce, while CHICO WashTm showed greater than 2 logs CFU/g reduction on all the leafy greens, by day 3. This study demonstrates the potential application of organic sanitizers in flume-washing of organic leafy greens for the reduction of E. coli O157:H7.

This paper discusses about the findings made from a pilot study on the globalization of Higher Education Institutions in *** purpose of this study is to identify the impact of globalization towards higher education institutions in these five elements: higher education demand,internationalization,lifelong learning,ICT Skills and Generic Skills.30 respondents,who are administrators from both public and private institutions of higher learning,were randomly selected to participate in the *** were self-developed based on literature *** were required to compare the importance of all the five elements before the year 1995 and after *** results obtained show that all the five elements have been indicated as more important after 1995 when compared to before 1995.1995 is chosen as the benchmark for globalization for malaysia due to its participation as a member in the World Trade *** study with more respondents and document analysis has to be conducted to further prove the globalization of higher education institutions in the all five elements discussed by this study.

Objective:Nutraceutical products are widely used for their claimed therapeutic ***,falsified or adulterated nutraceuticals present a major health threat to *** study investigates the pharmaceutical quality,safety and anti-inflammatory effects of six male enhancement nutraceuticals that claim to be 100%***:Three batches of six male enhancement products were tested to detect the presence and levels of adulterants via high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC).The pharmaceutical quality of the selected nutraceuticals was tested with near infrared spectroscopy(NIR)and Se De *** cytotoxic effects of these products on HepG2 cells were determined through cell proliferation(XTT)and lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)cytotoxicity ***,the in vitro inflammatory effects of these products were investigated using murine J774 macrophages through cytokine release ***:HPLC analysis detected the presence of sildenafil citrate,a vasodilator,and the active ingredient in Viagra and Revatio,in all batches of the products we *** of sildenafil citrate ranged from 0.45 mg to 51.85 mg among different *** assessment showed inter-and intra-batch heterogeneity in product *** of the XTT and LDH assays showed significant cytotoxic effects of the analyzed *** analysis revealed that the viability of HepG2 treated with tested products varied from 27.57%to 41.43%.Interestingly,the male enhancement products also showed anti-inflammatory ***:Despite their labeling as 100%natural,all products tested in this study contained levels of sildenafil citrate,which was not reported on the *** was a lack of pharmaceutical uniformity among products of the same batch and across different ***,the products we tested had cytotoxic *** study findings highlight the adulteration,poor quality and hazard of these ***,strict regulation of these product
