Antibacterial and cytotoxic metabolites produced by Streptomyces tanashiensis BYF-112 isolated from Odontotermes formosanus

Chemical investigations of the termite-associated Streptomyces tanashiensis BYF-112 resulted in the discovery of four novel alkaloid derivatives: vegfrecines A and B(1 and 2), exfoliazone A(3), and venezueline H(7), in addition to nine known metabolites(4-6, 8-13). The structures of these compounds were elucidated through comprehensive spectroscopic analysis and comparison with existing literature data. Antibacterial assays revealed that viridomycin A(11) exhibited potent antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, with a zone of inhibition(ZOI) of 12.67 mm, in comparison to a ZOI of 17.67 mm for the positive control gentamicin sulfate. Viridomycin A(11) showed moderate activity against micrococcus tetragenus and Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidae, with ZOI values of 15.50 and 14.33 mm, respectively, which were inferior to those of gentamicin sulfate(34.67 and 24.00mm). Viridomycin F(12) also exhibited moderate antibacterial effects against S. aureus, m. tetragenus, and P. syringae pv. actinidae,with ZOI values of 8.33, 16.50, and 10.83 mm, respectively. Cytotoxicity assays demonstrated that viridobruunine A(5), exfoliazone(6), viridomycin A(11), and X-14881E(13) exhibited significant cytotoxicity against human malignant melanoma(A375), ovarian cancer(SKOV-3), and gastric cancer(mGC-803) cell lines, with IC_(50) values ranging from 4.61 to 19.28 μmol·L^(-1). Furthermore, bioinformatic analysis of the complete genome of S. tanashiensis suggested a putative biosynthetic gene cluster(BGC) responsible for the production of compounds 1-12. These findings indicate that the secondary metabolites of insect-associated S. tanashiensis BYF-112hold promise as potential sources of novel antibacterial and anticancer agents.

The poor corrosion and wear resistances of mg alloys seriously limit their potential applications in various *** conventional epoxy coating easily forms many intrinsic defects during the solidification process,which cannot provide sufficient *** the current study,we design a double-layer epoxy composite coating on mg alloy with enhanced anti-corrosion/wear properties,via the spin-assisted assembly *** outer layer is functionalized graphene(FG)in waterborne epoxy resin(WEP)and the inner layer is Ce-based conversion(Ce)*** FG sheets can be homogeneously dispersed within the epoxy matrix to fill the intrinsic defects and improve the barrier *** Ce film connects the outer layer with the substrate,showing the transition *** corrosion rate of Ce/WEP/FG composite coating is 2131 times lower than that of bare mg alloy,and the wear rate is decreased by~90%.The improved corrosion resistance is attributed to the labyrinth effect(hindering the penetration of corrosive medium)and the obstruction of galvanic coupling *** synergistic effect derived from the FG sheet and blocking layer exhibits great potential in realizing the improvement of multi-functional integration,which will open up a new avenue for the development of novel composite protection coatings of mg alloys.

Post-traumatic peritendinous adhesion presents a significant challenge in clinical *** study proposes the use of diamond-like carbon(DLC)deposited on polylactic acid(PLA)membranes as a biophysical mechanism for anti-adhesion barrier to encase ruptured tendons in tendon-injured *** results indicate that PLA/DLC composite membrane exhibits more efficient anti-adhesion effect than PLA membrane,with histological score decreasing from 3.12±0.27 to 2.20±0.22 and anti-adhesion effectiveness increasing from 21.61%to 44.72%.mechanistically,the abundant C=O bond functional groups on the surface of DLC can reduce reactive oxygen species level effectively;thus,the phosphorylation of NF-κB and m1 polarization of macrophages are ***,excessive inflammatory response augmented by m1 macrophage-originated cytokines including interleukin-6(IL-6),interleukin-1β(IL-1β),and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)is largely *** biocompatibility evaluation,PLA/DLC membrane is slowly absorbed within tissue and displays prolonged barrier effects compared to traditional PLA *** studies show the DLC depositing decelerates the release of degradation product lactic acid and its induction of macrophage m2 polarization by interfering esterase and PLA ester bonds,which further delays the fibrosis *** was found that the PLA/DLC membrane possess an efficient biophysical mechanism for treatment of peritendinous adhesion.

Federated learning is an important distributed model training technique in Internet of Things(IoT),in which participant selection is a key component that plays a role in improving training efficiency and model *** module enables a central server to select a subset of participants to performmodel training based on data and device *** doing so,selected participants are rewarded and actively perform model training,while participants that are detrimental to training efficiency and model accuracy are ***,in practice,participants may suspect that the central server may have miscalculated and thus not made the selection *** lack of trustworthiness problem,which can demotivate participants,has received little *** problem that has received little attention is the leakage of participants’private information during the selection *** will therefore propose a federated learning framework with auditable participant *** supports smart contracts in selecting a set of suitable participants based on their training loss without compromising the *** the possibility of malicious campaigning and impersonation of participants,the framework employs commitment schemes and zero-knowledge proofs to counteract these malicious ***,we analyze the security of the framework and conduct a series of experiments to demonstrate that the framework can effectively improve the efficiency of federated learning.

Organic electrode materials(OEms)have attracted substantial attention for aqueous zinc-ion batteries(AZIBs)due to their advantages in relieving resource and environmental ***,the potential of OEms is plagued by their low achievable capacity and high ***,we have proposed a new concept of“co-coordination force”and designed a rigid-flexible coupling crystalline polymer that can overcome the abovementioned *** obtained crystalline polymer(BQSPNs)with multiredox centres makes the BQSPNs exist intermolecular hydrogen bonds(HB)among-C=O,-C=N,and-NH and consequently exhibits transverse two-dimensional arrays and longitudinalπ-πstacking ***,in-situ FTIR,Raman,variable temperature FTIR spectra,and 2D nuclear overhauser effect spectroscopy(NOESY)well capture the existence and evolution process of HB during the electrochemistry reaction process of BQSPNs,uncovering the effect of HB in stabilizing the structure and promoting the reaction *** a result,the BQSPNs with rationally designed“co-coordination force”deliver a high capacity of 459.6 m Ah/g and a stable cycling lifetime for more than 100,000 cycles at 10 A/g in *** results disclose the HB effect and provide a brand-new strategy for high-performance OEms design.
