The usage of renewable energies,including geothermal energy,is expanding rapidly *** low efficiency of geothermal cycles has consistently highlighted the importance of recovering heat loss for these *** paper proposes a combined power generation cycle(single flash geothermal cycle with trans-critical CO_(2) cycle)and simulates in the EES(Engineering Equation Solver)*** results show that the design parameters of the proposed system are significantly improved compared to the BASIC single flash ***,the proposed approach is optimized using the genetic algorithm and the Nelder-mead Simplex *** pressure,steam turbine output pressure,and CO_(2) turbine inlet pressure are three assumed variable parameters,and exergy efficiency is the target *** the default operating mode,the system exergy efficiency was 32%,increasing to 39%using the genetic algorithm and 37%using the Nelder-mead method.

Experimental evaluation and simulation of volumetric shrinkage and warpage on polymeric composite reinforced with short natural fibers

A polymeric natural fiber-reinforced composite is developed by extrusion and injection molding process. The shrinkage and warpage of high-density polyethylene reinforced with short natural fibers of Guadua angustifolia Kunth are analyzed by experimental measure- ments and computer simulations. Autodesk moldflow and Solid Works are employed to simulate both volumetric shrinkage and warpage of injected parts at different configurations： 0wt.%, 20wt.%, 30wt.% and 40 wt.% reinforcing on shrinkage and warpage behavior of polymer composite. Become evident the restrictive effect of reinforcing on the volumetric shrinkage and warpage of injected parts. The results indicate that volumetric shrinkage of natural composite is reduced up to 58% with fiber increasing, whereas the warpage shows a reduction form 79% to 86% with major fiber content. These results suggest that it is a highly beneficial use of natural fibers to improve the assembly properties of polymeric natural fiber-reinforced composites.

Background:A key step in gene expression is the recognition of the stop codon to terminate translation at the correct ***,it has been observed that ribosomes can misinterpret the stop codon and continue the translation in the 3′UTR *** phenomenon is called stop codon read-through(SCR).It has been suggested that these events would occur on a programmed basis,but the underlying mechanisms are still not well ***:Here,we present a strategy for the comprehensive identification of SCR events in the Drosophila melanogaster transcriptome by evaluating the ribosomal density *** associated ribosomal leak rate was estimated for every event identified.A statistical characterization of the frequency of nucleotide use in the proximal region to the stop codon in the sequences associated to SCR events was ***:The results show that the nucleotide usage pattern in transcripts with the UGA codon is different from the pattern for those transcripts ending in the UAA codon,suggesting the existence of at least two mechanisms that could alter the translational termination ***,a linear regression models for each of the three stop codons was developed,and we show that the models using the nucleotides at informative positions outperforms those models that consider the entire sequence context to the stop ***:We report that distal nucleotides can affect the SCR rate in a stop-codon dependent manner.

An important characteristic of fractured rocks is their high seismic attenuation, which so far has been mainly attributed to wave-induced fluid flow（WIFF） between the fractures and the embedding matrix. The influence of fracture connectivity on seismic attenuation has, however, recently, only been investigated. Numerical compressibility and shear tests based on Biot＇s quasi-static poro-elastic equations illustrate that an important manifestation of WIFF arises in the presence of fracture connectivity. The corresponding energy loss, which can be significant for both P- and S-waves, is mainly due to fluid flow within the connected fractures and is sensitive to the permeabilities as well as the lengths and intersection angles of the fractures. Correspondingly, this phenomenon contains valuable information on the governing hydraulic properties of fractured rocks and hence should be accounted for whenever realistic seismic models of such media are needed.

For many years, ruminant nutritionists and microbiologists have been interested in manipulating the microbial ecosystem of the rumen to improve production efficiency of different ruminant species. Removal and restriction of antibiotics subtherapeutic uses from ruminant diets has amplified interest in improving nutrient utilization and animal performance and search for more safe alternatives. Some bacterial and fungal microorganisms as a direct-fed microbial（DFm） can be the most suitable solutions. microorganisms that are commonly used in DFm for ruminants may be classified mainly as lactic acid producing bacteria（LAB）, lactic acid utilizing bacteria（LUB）, or other microorganism＇s species like Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, Enterococcus, Streptococcus, Bacillus, Propionibacterium, megasphaera elsdenii and Prevotellabryantii, in addition to some fungal species of yeast such as Saccharomyces and Aspergillus. A definitive mode of action for bacterial or fungal DFm has not been established; although a variety of mechanisms have been suggested. Bacterial DFm potentially moderate rumen conditions, and improve weight gain and feed efficiency. Fungal DFm may reduce harmful oxygen from the rumen, prevent excess lactate production, increase feed digestibility, and alter rumen fermentation patterns. DFm may also compete with and inhibit the growth of pathogens, immune system modulation, and modulate microbial balance in the gastrointestinal tract. Improved dry matter intake, milk yield, fat corrected milk yield and milk fat content were obtained with DFm administration. However, the response to DFm is not constant; depending on dosages, feeding times and frequencies, and strains of DFm. Nonetheless, recent studies have supported the positive effects of DFm on ruminant performance.

Hard coatings are used to improve the wear resistance of metals which largely depends on adhesion between substrate and *** wear and friction behavior of uncoated and TiCN-coated D2,m2 and m4 steels were evaluated by apin-on-disk test under lubricated *** order to evaluate the influence of lubricant on wear performance,dry friction tests were also *** results showed that friction coefficients were very similar for both uncoated and TiCN-coated *** lubricated conditions,the uncoated D2 tool steel exhibited the lowest friction coefficient,but the TiCN-coated D2 steel presented the smallest wear *** was the main wear mechanism in all the ***,microhardness measurements were carried out,finding an influence of the steel substrate on the hardness of the ***,adhesion test was conducted,suggesting agood adhesion of class 1 between substrates and TiCN coatings.

Purpose: The primary aim of this paper is to design, create, and improve functional and artificial Bruch’s membranes (Bm) using bioengineering techniques, which can be applied in the treatment of maculopathies by supporting the growth and maintenance of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells, thereby potentially enabling subretinal implantation in patients. methods: We fabricated by electrospinning ultrathin 3D nanofibrous membranes from Polycaprolactone (PCL), and different concentrations of gelatin (5%, 15% and 30%). ARPE-19 cells were seeded onto these artificial membranes. mTT assays were performed in order to evaluate ARPE-19 cell viability and cytotoxicity. IF assays were realized to observe the ARPE-19 cells onto each membrane. Ultrastructure of the modified Bruch’s membrane and ARPE-19 morphology after 25 days of culture were studied with transmission and scanning electron microscopy. To evaluate expression changes in markers of ARPE-19 (RPE65 and ZO-1) qRT-PCR assays were realized. Data from three independent experiments were pooled and expressed as the mean SD. A confidence level of P 0.05 was considered to be statistically significant. Results ARPE-19 cells grew on PCL/Gelatin membranes mainly in PCL/30% gelatin combination, which had not cytotoxic effect. RPE65/cytokeratin-18/ and actin-positive ARPE-19 cells formed a correctly orientated monolayer of polygonal cells with morphological polarity. The apical cell surfaces exhibited abundant protruding microfolds. moreover, zones of polygonal border look as if ARPE-19 cells fused among, suggesting the presence of tight junctions. The expression of RPE65 and ZO-1 was unchanged. Conclusions: PCL/30% Gelatine membranes may imitate the natural Bm to such extent that they support RPE-cells and exhibited RPE-like morphology.
