We report on an experiment performed at the FLASH2 free-electron laser(FEL)aimed at producing warm dense matter via soft x-ray isochoric *** the experiment,we focus on study of the ions emitted during the soft x-ray ablation process using time-of-flight electron multipliers and a shifted maxwell–Boltzmann velocity distribution *** find that most emitted ions are thermal,but that some impurities chemisorbed on the target surface,such as protons,are accelerated by the electrostatic field created in the plasma by escaped *** morphology of the complex crater structure indicates the presence of several ion groups with varying *** find that the ion sound velocity is controlled by the ion temperature and show how the ion yield depends on the FEL radiation attenuation length in different materials.

Tribological and wear performance of centrifuge cast functional graded copper based composite at dry sliding conditions

The Effects of Zinc Sulfate on the in Vitro Digestibility of Feeds in Cervids

The captive white-tailed deer industry has an estimated impact of 1.6 billion USD in the state of Texas alone. However, nutritional requirements for cervids are determined through research based on sheep and goats. The objective of this study was to determine the effects of zinc on differences in dry matter digestibility in vitro for white-tailed does (Odocoileus virginianus). Deer (n = 2) were ethically harvested, rumens were collected, and placed into a cooler containing warm water. Rumen contents were agitated, and fluid was filtered using cheese cloth while applying CO2. Fluid was placed into four separate incubator jars with filter bags containing a 1:1 alfalfa to coastal hay blend. Zinc doses of 0.073 mg/kg/d equivalents were added to two of the jars ( Zn), and the additional two jars received 0.00 mg/kg/d (COn). Following 48 h of incubation, in vitro true digestibility (iVTD) showed no significant differences between the control and the treatment groups. Average dry matter digested in vitro was 91.87% and 95.13%, respectively. There were no differences detected in ADF, nDF, iVTD, or Om between the treatment groups. While no detectable differences were observed in this study, this methodology did prove to be viable and functional for microbial digestion in vitro. This study can be replicated with multiple experimental units to confirm the observations of increased digestibility. Formal nutritional guidelines can be created to allow for more efficient feeding of cervids thereby reducing feed costs and continuing the growth of the captive deer industry.

Propagation of light beams in turbid media such as underwater environments,fog,clouds,or biological tissues finds increasingly important applications in science and technology,including bio-imaging,underwater communication,and free-space communication *** many of these applications traditionally relied on conventional,linearly polarized Gaussian beams,light possesses many degrees of freedom that are still largely unexplored,such as spin angular momentum(sam)and orbital angular momentum(OAm).Here,we present nonlinear light-matter interactions of such complex light beams with"rotational"degrees of freedom.in engineered nonlinear colloidal *** making use of both variational and perturbative approach,we consider non-cylindrical optical vortices,elliptical optical vortices,and higher-order Bessel beams integrated in time(HOBBiT)to predict the dynamics and stability of the evolution of these *** results may find applications in many scenarios involving light transmission in strongly scattering environments.

Study of structural,electrical and optical properties of vanadium oxide condensed films deposited by spray pyrolysis technique

Vanadium oxides condensed films are prepared on glass substrates, using spray pyrolysis （SP） technique. The effects of substrate temperature, vanadium concentra- tion in initial solution and the solution spray rate on the nano-structural, electrical, and optical properties of depos- ited films were investigated. Characterizations of the sam- ples were performed using X-ray diffraction （XRD）, scanning electron microscopy （SEm）, and UV-Vis spec- troscopy methods. The type and concentration of the charge carriers were determined and measured by Hall effect experiment. XRD patterns showed that the prepared films had polycrystalline structure, mostly tetragonal fl-V205 and V409 phases with the preferred orientation along （200） direction. The Hall effect experiment revealed that all samples were n-type, except the ones deposited at substrate temperatures Tsub ： 300 ~C and Tsub = 450 ~C, vanadium concentration 0.1 mol/L and solution spray rate 10 mL/min. The charge carrier concentrations obtained were in the range 1016-1018 cm-3. The lowest sheet resistance （R~） was obtained for the samples prepared at T^ub = 450 ~C, vana- dium concentration 0.05 mol/L and solution spray rate 10 mL/min. it was also found that the optical transparency of the samples changed from 20% to 75% and the optical bandgap of the samples was from 2.22 eV to 2.58 eV, depending on the deposition conditions.

BACkGROUnD identifying a potential single monogenetic disorder in healthy couples is costly due to the Assisted Reproduction facilities'current methodology for screening,which focuses on the detecting multiple genetic disorders at ***,we report the successful application of a low-cost and fast preimplantation genetic testing for monogenic/single gene defects(PGT-m)approach for detecting propionic acidemia(PA)in embryos obtained from a confirmed heterozygous propionyl-CoA carboxylase alpha subunit(PCCA)*** SUmmARY A fertile 32-years old mexican couple with denied consanguinity sought antenatal genetic *** were suspected obligate PA carriers due to a previous deceased PA male newborn with an unknown PCCA/propionyl-CoA carboxylase beta subunit(PCCB)***-Generation Sequencing revealed a heterozygous genotype for a pathogenic PCCA variant(c.2041-1G>T,ClinVar:RCV-000802701.1;dbSnP:rs1367867218)in both *** couple requested in vitro fertilization(iVF)and PGT-m for *** iVF,12 oocytes were collected and fertilized,of which two resulted in high-quality *** biopsies and Whole Genome Amplification by a fragmentation/amplification-based method were performed and revealed that the two embryos were *** polymerase chain reaction and further Sanger sequencing of the exon-intron borders revealed a wild-type PCCA male embryo and a heterozygous c.2041-1G>T female *** embryos were transferred,resulting in a clinical pregnancy and the delivery of a healthy male newborn(38 wk,weight:4080 g,length:49 cm,APGAR 9/9).The absence of PA was confirmed by expanded newborn *** We show that using PGT-m with Whole Genome Amplification templates,coupled with iVF,can reduce the transmission of a pathogenic variant of the PCCA gene.

Co-delivery of PARP and Pi3k inhibitors by nanoscale metal-organic frameworks for enhanced tumor chemoradiation

Due to their complementary activity,the use of DnA damage repair(DDR)inhibitors during radiotherapy(RT)has yielded promising ***,this approach is often hindered by toxicity and poor in vivo stability of the DDR in *** scale metal-organic frameworks(nmOFs)represent an emerging class of crystalline materials which exhibit advantageous properties over traditional nanomaterials and demonstrate great potential in ***,a unique,synergistic treatment strategy for enhancing the therapeutic efficacy of RT vianmOF-mediated drug delivery and RT enhancement was evaluated.A nmOF containing the high-Zelement Hf and the ligand 1,4-dicarboxybenzene(Hf-BDC)was synthesized and loaded with the two DDR inhibitor drugs,talazoparib and buparlisib(TB@Hf-BDC-PEG).TB@Hf-BDC-PEGaugmented RT by increasing reactive oxygen species generation and thus DnA damage of which repair was inhibited *** enhancement was demonstrated in vivo where the com.ination of concurrent radiation with in travenous TB@Hf-BDC-PEG administration resulted in improved tumor control and increased ***,no apparent toxicity was observed with nmOF treatment,supporting its potential as an attractive candidate over traditional nano *** work provides the first report of nmOFs employed to enhance thetherapeutic response to RT through DDR inhibitor delivery and physical radiation dose enhancement.
