Trastuzumab resistance is one of the causes of poor prognosis in patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HEr2)-positive(HEr2+)breast cancer(BC).The truncated isoform of dopamine-and cAm.regulated phosphoprotein(t-DArPP)has been reported to be involved in trastuzumab therapy resistance and promoting tum.r *** evaluate the t-DArPP expression in BC,paired tum.rs and surrounding normal tissues were analyzed by real-time polym.rase chain reaction and confirmed higher DArPP-32 kDa family mrNA expression in HEr2+BC tum.r *** established 2 patient-derived xenografts(PDX)mice models to test the efficacy of trastuzumab,named model 1(non-responder)and model 2(responder).t-DArPP and p95-HEr2 protein-protein interactions were detected in PDX tum.r tissue from non-responders using Förster resonance energy transfer ***,there is no response from the ***,mechanistic studies using transwell and western blot assays demonstrated that t-DArPP could upregulate epithelial-mesenchymal transition signaling proteins,enhance p95-HEr2 expression and promote cell *** found that quercetin effectively reduced t-DArPP expression in HEr2+BC *** t-DArPP ShrNA-suppressed cells,quercetin synergistically enhanced trastuzumab-induced apoptotic cell death and G2/m phase *** conclusion,the combination of quercetin and trastuzumab treatment by targeting t-DArPP in HEr2+BC patients has the potential as a biom.rker for mitigating drug resistance.

Non-centrosymmetric topological material has atracted intense atention due to its superior characteristics as compared with the centrosymmetric one, although probing the local quantum geometry in non-centrosymmetric topological material remains challenging. The non-linear Hall（NLH） effect provides an ideal tool to investigate the local quantum geometry. Here, we report a non-centrosymmetric topological phase in ZrTe5, probed by using the NLH effect. The angle-resolved and temperature-dependent NLH measurement reveals the inversion and ab-plane m.rror symmetries breaking at r theoretical calculation. Our findings identify a new non-centrosymmetric phase of ZrTe5and provide a platform to probe and control local quantum geometry via crystal symmetries.

EFFECT OF NOZZLE FAN ANGLE ON SPrAYS IN GAS-SOLID rISEr FLOW

A three-dimensional simulation study is performed for investigating the hydrodynamic behaviors of a cross-flow liquid nitrogen spray injected into an air-fluidized catalytic cracking （FCC） riser of rectangular cross-section. rectangular nozzles with a fixed aspect ratio but different fan angles are used for the spray feeding. While our num.rical simulation reveals a generic three-phase flow structure with strong three-phase interactions under rapid vaporization of sprays, this paper tends to focus on the study of the effect of nozzle fan angle on the spray coverage as well as vapor flux distribution by spray vaporization inside the riser flow. The gas-solid （air-FCC） flow is simulated using the multi-fluid method while the evaporating sprays （liquid nitrogen） are calculated using the Lagrangian trajectory method, with a strong two-way coupling between the Eulerian gas-solid flow and the Lagrangian trajectories of spray. Our simulation shows that the spray coverage is basically dominated by the spray fan angle. The spray fan angle has a very minor effect on spray penetration. The spray vaporization flux per unit area of spray coverage is highly non-linearly distributed along the spray penetration. The convection of gas-solid flow in a riser leads to a significant downward deviation of vapor generated by droplet vaporization, causing a strong recirculating wake region in the immediate downstream area of the spray.

Surface-enhanced raman scattering nanosensors for in vivo detection of nucleic acid targets in a large animal model

Although nanotechnology has led to important advances in in vitro diagnostics, the development of nanosensors for in vivo detection remains very challenging. Here, we demonstrated the proof-of-principle of in vivo detection of nudeic acid targets using a promising type of surface-enhanced raman scattering （SErS） nanosensor implanted in the skin of a large animal model （pig）. The in vivo nanosensor used in this study involves the ＂inverse molecular sentinel＂ detection scheme using plasmonics-active nanostars, which have tunable absorption bands in the near infrared region of the ＂tissue optical window＂, rendering them efficient as an optical sensing platform for in vivo optical detection. Ex vivo measurements were also performed using human skin grafts to demonstrate the detection of SErS nanosensors through tissue. In this stud, a new core--shell nanorattle probe with raman reporters trapped between the core and shell was utilized as an internal standard system for self-calibration. These results illustrate the usefulness and translational potential of the SErS nanosensor for in vivo biosensing.

The prescribed p-mean curvature equation of low regularity in the Heisenberg group

This work reports on the author's recent study about regularity and the singular set of a C 1 smooth surface with prescribed p (or H)-mean curvature in the 3-dimensional Heisenberg *** a differential equation,this is a degenerate hyperbolic and elliptic PDE of second order,arising from the study of Cr *** only the p-mean curvature H ∈ C 0,it is shown that any characteristic curve is C 2 smooth and its (line) curvature *** introducing special coordinates and invoking the jump formulas along characteristic curves,it is proved that the Legendrian (horizontal) normal gains one m.re *** the seed curves are C 2 *** work also obtains the uniqueness of characteristic and seed curves passing through a common point under some mild conditions,*** an on-going project,it is shown that the p-area element is in fact C 2 smooth along any characteristic curve and satisfies a certain ordinary differential equation of second ***,this ODE is analyzed to study the singular set.

Influence of rice straw burning on the levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in agricultural county of Taiwan

Atmospheric particulate and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons （PAHs） size distribution were measured at Jhu-Shan （a rural site） and Sin-Gang （a town site） in central Taiwan during the rice straw burning and non-burning periods. The concentrations of total PAHs accounting for a roughly 58% （34%） increment in the concentrations of total PAHs due to rice-straw burning. Combustion-related PAHs during burning periods were 1.54-2.57 times higher than those during non-burning periods. The mass median diameter （mmD） of 0.88-1.21 μm in the particulate phase suggested that rice-straw burning generated the increase in coarse particle number. Chemical mass balance （CmB） receptor model analyses showed that the prim.ry pollution sources at the two sites were similar. However, ricestraw burning emission was specifically identified as a significant source of PAH during burning periods at the two sites. Open burning of rice straws was estimated to contribute approximately 6.3%-24.6% to total atmospheric PAHs at the two sites.

Bariatric surgery in old age:a comparative study of laparoscopic roux-en-Y gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy in an Asia centre of excellence

Bariatric surgery has been proved to be the safest and efficient procedure in treating m.rbid obese patients,but data is still lacking in the elderly *** aim of our study was to compare the safety and efficacy of laparoscopic roux-en-Y gastric bypass（LrYGB） and sleeve gastrectomy（LSG） in patients aged m.re than 55 *** performed2 a retrospective review of a prospectively collected *** patients with body mass index（BmI） §32 kg/mand aged m.re than 55 years undergoing LrYGB or LSG in BmI Surgery Centre,E-Da Hospital between January 2008 and December 2011 with at least one year of follow up were included for the ***,peri-operative data,weight loss and surgical complications were all recorded and *** age and BmI of these 68 patients22（22 males and 46 female） were 58.8 years（55-79 years） and 39.5 kg/m（32.00-60.40 kg/m）.LrYGB was performed in 44 patients and LSG in 24 *** two groups were comparable in their preoperative BmI,Am.rican Society of Anaesthesia（ASA） score and gender *** patients were significantly older than patients receiving *** proportion of type 2 diabetes preoperatively was significantly higher in LrYGB patients as compared to LSG patients（88.63% vs.50%; P,0.01）.The prevalence of other co-m.rbidities was similar and comparable2 between the *** BmI in the LrYGB and LSG groups at the end of 1 year were 28.8 kg/mand228.2 kg/m.respectively,and there was no statistically significant difference in mean percentage of excess weight loss（%EWL） at 1 *** percentage of resolution of diabetes was significantly higher in LrYGB（69.2%） as compared to LSG（33.3%）.On the other hand,there was no statistical difference in the percentage of resolution of hypertension,hyperlipidemia and fatty liver *** overall m.rbidity and re-operation rate was higher in LrYGB *** m.rbidly elderly patients,both surgeries achieved good weight loss and resolution of *** is s

CO_2 sequestration utilizing basic-oxygen furnace slag:Controlling factors,reaction mechanisms and V–Cr concerns

Basic-oxygen furnace slag（BOF-slag） contains 〉35%CaO,a potential component for CO_*** this study,slag-water-CO_2 reaction experiments were conducted with the longest reaction duration extending to 96 hr under high CO_2 pressures of 100-300 kg/cm2 to optimize BOF-slag carbonation conditions,to address carbonation mechanisms,and to evaluate the extents of V and Cr release from slag *** slag carbonation degree generally reached the maximum values after 24 hr slag-water-CO_2 reaction and was controlled by slag particle size and reaction *** maximum carbonation degree of 71%was produced from the experiment using fine slag of〈0.5 mm under 100℃and a CO_2 pressure of 250 kg/cm^2 with a water/slag ratio of *** release from the slag to water was significantly enhanced（generally 〉2 orders） by slag *** contrast,slag carbonation did not promote chromium.release until the reaction duration exceeded 24 ***,the water chromium content was generally at least an order lower than the vanadium concentration,which decreased when the reaction duration exceeded 24 ***,long reaction durations of 48-96 hr are proposed to reduce environmental impacts while keeping high carbonation *** textures and water compositions indicated that mg-wustite,in addition to CaO-containing minerals,can also be ***,the conventional expression that only considered carbonation of the CaO-containing minerals undervalued the CO_2 sequestration capability of the BOF-slag by^20%.Therefore,the BOF-slag is a better CO_2 storage medium than that previously recognized.

Visual Attributes of Subliminal Priming Images Impact Conscious Perception of Facial Expressions

We investigated, in young healthy participants, how the affective content of subliminally presented priming images and their specific visual attributes impacted conscious perception of facial expressions. The priming images were broadly categorized as aggressive, pleasant, or neutral and further subcategorized by the presence of a face and by the centricity (egocentric or allocentric vantage-point) of the image content. Participants responded to the emotion portrayed in a pixelated target-face by indicating via key-press if the expression was angry or neutral. response time to the neutral target face was significantly slower when preceded by face primes, compared to non-face primes (p rroni corrected). In contrast, faster rTs were observed when angry target faces were preceded by face compared to non-face primes. In addition, participants’ performance was worse when a priming image contained an egocentric face compared to when it contained either an allocentric face or an egocentric non-face. The results suggest a significant impact of the visual features of the priming image on conscious perception of face expression.
