Effect of Stewing in Cooking Step on Textural and morphological Properties of Cooked Rice

Stewing of rice grains by steam after boiling in excess water can be used for cooking rice perfectly. The effects of this procedure in cooking of three varieties of Iranian rice （Sang Tarom, Domsiyah and Fair） on textural and morphological properties of cooked rice grains were investigated. The results showed that this step in rice cooking reduced the hardness and increased the adhesiveness of rice grains significantly. By the use of the scanning electron microscopy, it was shown that the outer surface of cooked rice stewed by steam had less porosity and closer pores due to the modification during cooking, and better gelatinization and more expansion of starch granules compared to non-stewed samples. The use of this procedure in rice cooking to provide a fully cooked and gelatinized, softer and stickier final product is recommended.

Heterostructured materials,defined as materials that contain multiple zones with dramatically different flow stresses,have the potential to push the envelope of the strength-ductility of metals and alloys beyond what can be obtained conventionally[1–3].A prominent example is the heterogeneous lamella Ti that is as strong as its ultrafine-grained Ti,while as ductile as the coarsegrained Ti[4].

Identification of epitopes targeted following virus infection or vaccination can guide vaccine design and development of therapeutic interventions targeting functional sites,but can be ***,we employed peptide microarrays to map linear peptide epitopes(LPEs)recognized following SARS-CoV-2 infetion and *** detected by nonhuman primate(NHP)and patient Igms after SARS-CoV-2 infection extensively overlapped,localized to functionally important virus regions,and aligned with reported neutralizing antibody binding *** LPE overlap occurred atfter infection and vaccination,with LPE clusters specifc to each stimulus,where strong and conserved LPEs mapping to sites known or likely to inhibit spike protein ***-specifc LPEs tended to map to sites known or likely to be afected by structural changes induced by the proline substitutions in the mRNA vaccine's S *** LPEs to regions of known functional importance in this manner may acelerate vaccine evaluation and discovery of targets for sile secific therapeutic interventions.

本文合成了三类具有大平面共轭体系的分子,分别是萘嵌苯酰亚胺(QDI、hdi和ODI)、二聚苝酰亚胺DPDI和基于苝酰亚胺的梯形聚合物LCPT。研究了它们的光谱、电化学、自组装等基本性质,并尝试将其用于有机薄膜太阳能电池和场效应晶体管。这些化合物具有很强的吸收光谱,较低的LUmO能级,是一类很有潜力的电子受体。hdi和ODI具有强烈的近红外吸收,在有机溶剂中的最大吸收波长分别达到908nm和1007nm。QDI和ODI在高规整石墨(HOPG)表面能组装成有序的结构,并且可以通过溶剂的流动来控制组装体系的结构,通过扫描隧道显微镜(STm)清晰地观测这些有序的结构。DPDI在300-600nm之间具有很强的吸收,最大摩尔消光系数超过120000 mcm。LCPT的热稳定温度高达380℃,荧光量子产率达到O.2。

Prediction of hypertensive disease in pregnancy remains challenging. Risk factor based screening utilizing history, physical characteristics, uterine artery Doppler and serum markers have been used with varying success. As hypertension in pregnancy appears to be associated with changes in the maternal vasculature, we have investigated the utility of maternal arterial elasticity measurement, prior to 20 weeks gestation, in the prediction of hypertensive disease in pregnancy. A hdi/Pulsewave CR2000 Research Cardiovascular Profiling System was used to obtain radial artery pulse pressure waveforms from 623 Caucasian women at the time of their first antenatal visit. Outcome data were available in 610 cases and these comprised the study group. The results showed that women who subsequently developed gestational hypertension (n = 20) had higher baseline systolic, diastolic and pulse pressure values (though within the normal range) but similar arterial elasticity to those patients who did not develop hypertension. Women who later developed pre-eclampsia (n = 23) had, in addition, reduced large artery elasticity and increased systemic vascular resistance compared with women who did not develop hypertension. The measurement of maternal radial artery elasticity in early pregnancy may provide an additional refinement in screening for hypertensive disease, particularly pre-eclampsia, in pregnancy.

Objective This study was undertaken to determine the effect of advanc ed ultras ound equipment on the ability to visualize fetal cardiac structures in obese gra vid women. Study design Singleton pregnancies undergoing initial ultrasound exam ination between 14 weeks and 23 weeks 6 days were included. Patients were classi fied by body mass index (BmI) (nonobese mI m2] and obese mI ≥30 kg/ m2]). The rate of suboptimal ultrasound visualization (SUV) of the fetal heart ( cardiac axis, cardiac position, 4-chamber, and outflow tracts views) was compar ed between patients examined by standard (hdi 3000) or advanced ultrasound equip ment (hdi 5000)-(ATL, Philips medical Systems, Bothell, Wash). Results Over a 5 -year period, 7029 singleton gestations met inclusion criteria; 2498 (35.5%) w ere clinically obese. There was no difference in gestational age, rate of low am niotic fluid volume, anterior placenta, or vertex fetal presentation between the groups. When the advanced ultrasound equipment was used, SUV of the fetal heart was lower in the nonobese population (20.8%vs 16.4%; Pmen (38.1%vs 35.5%; P=.27). However, obese patients who were e xamined by advanced ultrasound equipment after 18 weeks had less SUV of the outf low tracts (28.5%vs 23.1%, P=.04) but not of the 4-chamber view. Conclusion D espite advanced ultrasound equipment,maternal obesity significantly limits visua lization of the fetal heart. However, the advanced ultrasound equipment may some what benefit obese gravid women examined after 18 weeksgestation.
