the global obesity pandemic has resulted in a rise in the prevalence of male obesity-related secondary hypogonadism(mOSH)with emerging evidence on the role of testosterone *** aim to provide an updated and practical approach towards its *** did a comprehensive literature search across mEDLINE(via Pubmed),Scopus,and Google Scholar databases using the keywords“mOSH”OR“Obesity-related hypogonadism”OR“testosterone replacement therapy”OR“Selective estrogen receptor modulator”OR“SERm”OR“Guidelines on male hypogonadism”as well as a manual search of references within the articles.A narrative review based on available evidence,recommendations and their practical implications was *** weight loss is the ideal therapeutic strategy for patients with mOSH,achievement of significant weight reduction is usually difficult with lifestyle changes alone in real-world ***,androgen administration is often necessary in the management of hypogonadism in patients with mOSH which also improves many other comorbidities related to ***,there is conflicting evidence for the appropriate use of testosterone replacement therapy(tRt),and it can also be associated with *** evidence-based review updates the available evidence including the very recently published results of the tRAVERSE trial and provides comprehensive clinical practice pearls for the management of patients with *** starting testosterone replacement in functional hypogonadism of obesity,it would be desirable to initiate lifestyle modification to ensure weight *** should be coupled with the management of other comorbidities related to obesity in mOSH *** the risks and benefits of tRt should be considered in every patient before and during longterm management.

tensile strength behavior of cement-stabilized dredged sediment reinforced by polypropylene fiber

this study evaluated the feasibility of using polypropylene fiber(PF)as reinforcement in improving tensile strength behavior of cement-stabilized dredged sediment(CDS).the effects of cement content,water content,PF content and length on the tensile strength and stress–strain behavioral evolutions were evaluated by conducting splitting tensile strength ***,the micro-mechanisms characterizing the tensile strength behavior inside PF-reinforced CDS(CPFDS)were clarified via analyzing macro failure and microstructure *** results indicate that the highest tensile strengths of 7,28,60,and 90 d CPFDS were reached at PF contents of 0.6%,1.0%,1.0%,and 1.0%,exhibiting values 5.96%,65.16%,34.10%,and 35.83%higher than those of CDS,***,3 mm,PF of showed the best reinforcement *** CPFDS exhibited obvious tensile strain-hardening characteristic,and also had better ductility than *** mix factor(C_(C)^(a)/C_(w)^(b))and time parameter(q_(t0)(t))of CDS,and the reinforcement index(k_(t-PF))of CPFDS were used to establish the tensile strength prediction models of CDS and CPFDS,considering multiple *** PF“bridge effect”and associated cementation-reinforcement coupling actions inside CPFDS were mainly responsible for tensile strength behavior *** key findings contribute to the use of CPFDS as recycled engineering soils.

Phase diagram and quench dynamics of a periodically drivenHaldane model

We investigate a periodically driven Haldane model subjected to a two-stage driving scheme in the form of a step *** using the Floquet theory,we obtain the topological phase diagram of the *** also find that anomalous Floquet topological phases exist in the *** on examining the quench dynamics among topological phases,we analyze the site distribution of the 0-mode and p-mode edge states in long-period evolution after a *** results demonstrate that,under certain conditions,the site distribution of the 0-mode can be confined at the edge even in long-period ***,both the 0-mode and p-mode can recover and become confined at the edge in long-period evolution when the post-quench parameters(t,m_(2) /m_(1))in the phase diagram cross away from the phase boundary (m_(2)/ m_(1))=(6√3t2)/ (m_(1)−***,we conclude that whether the edge state is confined at the edge in the long-period evolution after a quench depends on the similarity of the edge states before and after the *** findings reveal some new characteristics of quench dynamics in a periodically driven system.

Prediction of damage potential in mainshock–aftershock sequences using machine learning algorithms

Assessing the potential damage caused by earthquakes is crucial for a community’s emergency *** this study,four machine learning(mL)methods—random forest,extremely randomized trees,AdaBoost(AB),and gradient boosting(GB)—were employed to develop prediction models for the damage potential of the mainshock(DImS)and mainshock–aftershock sequences(DImA).Building structures were modeled using eight single-degree-of-freedom(SDOF)systems with different hysteretic rules.A set of 662 recorded mainshock–aftershock(mS-AS)ground motions was selected from the PEER *** intensity measures(Ims)were chosen to represent the characteristics of the mainshock and *** results revealed that the selected mL methods can well predict the structural damage potential of the SDOF systems,except for the AB *** GB model exhibited the best performance,making it the recommended choice for predicting DImS and DImA among the four mL ***,the impact of input variables in the prediction was investigated using the shapley additive explanations(SHAP)*** high-correlation variables were sensitive to the structural period(t).At t=1.0 s,the mainshock peak ground velocity(PGVm)and aftershock peak ground displacement(PGDA)significantly influenced the prediction of *** t increased to 5.0 s,the primary high-correlation factor of the mainshock Ims changed from PGVm to the mainshock peak ground displacement(PGDm);however,the highcorrelation variable of the aftershock Ims remained *** high-correlation factors for DImS showed trends similar to those of ***,a table summarizing the first and second high-correlation variables for predicting DImS and DImA were provided,offering a valuable reference for parameter selection in seismic damage prediction for mainshock–aftershock sequences.

Unraveling the incompatibility mechanism of ethylene carbonate-based electrolytes in sodium metal anodes

Ethylene carbonate(EC)is widely used in lithium-ion batteries due to its optimal overall performance with satisfactory conductivity,relatively stable solid electrolyte interphase(SEI),and wide electrochemical *** is also the most widely used electrolyte solvent in sodium ion ***,compared to lithium metal,sodium metal(Na)shows higher activity and reacts violently with EC-based electrolyte(NaPF_(6)as solute),which leads to the failure of sodium metal batteries(SmBs).Herein,we reveal the electrochemical instability mechanism of EC on sodium metal battery,and find that the com-bination of EC and NaPF_(6) is electrically reduced in sodium metal anode during charging,resulting in the reduction of the first coulombic efficiency,and the continuous consumption of electrolyte leads to the cell *** address the above issues,an additive modified linear carbonate-based electrolyte is provided as a substitute for EC based ***,ethyl methyl carbonate(EmC)and dimethyl carbon-ate(DmC)as solvents and fluoroethylene carbonate(FEC)as SEI-forming additive have been identified as the optimal solvent for NaFP_(6)based electrolyte and used in Na_(4)Fe_(3)(PO_(4))_(2)(P_(2)O_(7))/Na *** batter-ies exhibit excellent capacity retention rate of about 80%over 1000 cycles at a cut-off voltage of 4.3 V.

the joint European Space Agency and Chinese Academy of Sciences Solar wind magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer(SmILE)mission will explore global dynamics of the magnetosphere under varying solar wind and interplanetary magnetic field conditions,and simultaneously monitor the auroral response of the Northern Hemisphere *** these large-scale responses with medium and fine-scale measurements at a variety of cadences by additional ground-based and space-based instruments will enable a much greater scientific impact beyond the original goals of the SmILE ***,we describe current community efforts to prepare for SmILE,and the benefits and context various experiments that have explicitly expressed support for SmILE can offer.A dedicated group of international scientists representing many different experiment types and geographical locations,the Ground-based and Additional Science Working Group,is facilitating these *** include constructing an online SmILE Data Fusion Facility,the discussion of particular or special modes for experiments such as coherent and incoherent scatter radar,and the consideration of particular observing strategies and spacecraft *** anticipate growing interest and community engagement with the SmILE mission,and we welcome novel ideas and insights from the solar-terrestrial community.

the increase in energy consumption and its collateral damage on the environment has encouraged the development of environment-friendly ceramic materials with good energy storage *** this work,(1-x)Na_(0.5)Bi_(0.5)tiO_(3)-xCa(mg_(1/3)Nb_(2/3))O_(3) ceramics were synthesized by the solid-state reaction *** 0.88Na_(0.5)Bi_(0.5)tiO_(3)-0.12Ca(mg_(1/3)Nb_(2/3))O_(3) ceramic exhibited a high recoverable energy storage density of 8.1 J/cm3 and energy storage efficiency of 82.4% at 550 kV/*** introduction of Ca(mg_(1/3)Nb_(2/3))O_(3) reduced the grain size and increased the band gap,thereby enhancing the breakdown field strength of the ceramic *** method also resulted in good temperature stability(20–140℃),frequency stability(1–200 Hz),and fatigue stability over 106 *** addition,an ultrahigh power density of 187 mW/cm^(3) and a fast charge-discharge rate(t0.9=57.2 ns)can be obtained *** element method analysis revealed that the decrease of grain size was beneficial to the increase of breakdown field ***,the 0.88Na_(0.5)Bi_(0.5)tiO_(3)-0.12Ca(mg_(1/3)Nb_(2/3))O_(3) ceramics resulted in high energy storage properties with good stability and were promising environment-friendly materials for advanced pulsed power systems applications.
