The distribution of the various organic and inorganic constituents and their influences on the combustion of coal has been comprehensively ***,the combustion characteristics of pulverized coal depend not only on rank but also on the composition,distribution,and combination of the *** the proximate and ultimate analyses,determining the macerals in coal involves the use of sophisticated microscopic instrumentation and *** this study,an attempt was made to predict the amount of macerals(vitrinite,inertinite,and liptinite)and total mineral matter from the Witbank Coalfields samples using the multiple input single output white-box artificial neural network(mISOWB-ANN),gene expression programming(GEP),multiple linear regression(mLR),and multiple nonlinear regression(mNLR).The predictive models obtained from the multiple soft computing models adopted are contrasted with one another using difference,efficiency,and composite statistical indicators to examine the appropriateness of the *** mISOWB-ANN provides a more reliable predictive model than the other three models with the lowest difference and highest efficiency and composite statistical indicators.

Typical clinical symptoms of chronic pancreatitis are vague and non-specific and therefore diagnostic tests are required, none of which provide absolute diagnostic certainly, especially in the early stages of disease. Recently-published guidelines bring much needed structure to the diagnostic work-up of patients with suspected chronic pancreatitis. In addition, novel diagnostic modalities bring promise for the future. The assessment and diagnosis of pancreatic exocrine insufficiency remains challenging and this review contests the accepted perspective that steatorrhea only occurs with > 90% destruction of the gland.

The biostimulatory effect of selected organic wastes on bacterial biodegradation of atrazine (2-chloro-4-ethylamino-6-isopropylamino-1,3,5-triazine) in three agricultural soils in Bauchi state, Nigeria, was carried out. The soil physico-chemical characteristics were investigated to further understand the environmental conditions of the sampling sites. Enrichment technique was used to isolate the atrazine-degrading strains. mineralization studies were carried out to determine atrazine biodegradation potentials of strains. Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) amplification of total nucleic acid of strains revealed several bacterial species based on nucleotide sequence analyses. Biostimulatory effect of selected organic wastes carried out showed minimal to average extent of biodegradation. The highest mean values, in CFU/mL, increase in biomass was recorded in Pseudomonas sp for both Cow dung 16.76 (42.03%) and Chicken droppings 12.32 (38.46%). However, biostimulatory effect using consortia provided more promising results, with 41.51% and 42.08% in Cow dung and Chicken droppings, biomass increase, respectively, in studies conducted. This proves that competition, survival of inoculums, bioavailability of organic amendments and nature of chemical are important factors affecting bioremediation.

AtzABC Catabolic Gene Probe from Novel Atrazine-Degrading Rhodococcus Strain Isolated from a Nigerian Agricultural Soil

A batch enrichment technique was used to isolate atrazine-degrading Rhodococcus sp strain from an agricultural land with history of atrazine application in Bauchi state, Northeastern Nigeria. The strain was identified on the basis of physiological, biochemical and 16S r RNA gene sequencing. Growth studies and HPLC analysis showed that the strain has potential of atrazine degradation. An investigation into the catabolic genes Atz ABC, which transform atrazine to cyanuric acid, confirms the chromosomal DNA of strain to harbor BC genes, as compared with the positive control, Rhodococcus jostii RHA1. The strain does not possess the Atz A in all catabolic gene probe carried out. The isolation and characterization of the Rhodococcus sp strain showed that catabolic genes may have evolved from a single origin with widespread global distribution, with possible potential in atrazine bioremediation.

Breaker fluids are designed to dissolve filter cakes by breaking their long-chain molecules,thereby removing solid deposits on the wellbore *** breaker fluids are not intended to infiltrate the hydrocarbon reservoir,they can invade and cause formation damage by altering sandstone reservoirs'wettability and relative *** can lead to a reduction in the overall reservoir *** study coupled tripartite methods to investigate the potential impact of breaker invasion and transport in hydrocarbon reservoirs and its multiscale effect on the performances of sandstone *** utilized experimental,analytical,and numerical methods to assess and predict the susceptibility of reservoirs to breaker fluid invasion and *** experimental and empirical investigations considered varying breaker fluid formulations to evaluate the effects of breaker fluid concentration,formation temperature,and solution gas-oil ratio(GOR)on residual-oil saturation(ROS)and oil-water relative *** adopting the ROS and relative permeability associated with the 50%v/v breaker fluid mixture,the performance of the hydrocarbon reservoir was numerically simulated under the limiting scenarios of no-invasion,moderate-invasion,and deep-invasion of breaker *** results indicate a positive correlation between breaker fluid concentration and ROS,highlighting the risks that breaker fluid invasion and deep infiltration pose to hydrocarbon ***,results show that both live-oil condition(LOC)and dead-oil condition(DOC)reservoirs are susceptible to the detrimental impacts of breaker fluid infiltration,while their invasion can reduce hydrocarbon recovery in both LOC(-6%)and DOC(-28%).The multi-scale effects on reservoir performance are more pronounced at near-wellbore and DOC than at far-field and *** from this work provide valuable insights into the complexity of breaker-fluid invasion in sandstone reservoirs and the mitigation of as
