Crustal structure beneath Tien Shan orogenic belt and its adjacent regions from multi-scale seismic data

As one of the world's most active intracontinental mountain belts, Tien Shan has posed questions for researchers regarding the formation of different tectonic units and active shallow seismicity. Here, we used a huge data set comprising of 7094 earthquakes from local, regional and teleseismic seismic stations. We used waveform modeling and multi-scale double-difference earthquake relocation technique to better constrain the source parameters of the earthquakes. The new set of events provided us with better initial earthquake locations for further tomographic investigation. We found that reverse-faulting earthquakes dominate the whole study area while the fault plane solutions for earthquakes beneath the northwestern Tarim Basin and the main Pamir Thrust are diverse. There is a low-velocity anomaly beneath Bashkaingdy at depth of 80 km, and high-velocity anomalies beneath central Tien Shan at shallower depths. These observations are the keys to understand the mechanism of Tien Shan's formation because of Tarim Basin northward and Kazakh Shield's southward subduction in the south and north respectively. Velocities beneath western Tien Shan are relatively high. We thus infer that the Western Tien Shan is relatively less deformed than the eastern Tien Shan primarily due to a relatively brittle mantle.

Plant virus infections are known to alter host plant attractiveness and suitability for insect *** study was conducted to determine how cucumber mosaic virus (CmV)-infected chilli plants affect the fitness and settling preferences ofnonvector whitefly,Bemisia tabaci adults under dual-choice conditions with volatile organic compounds analyzed using solid phase microextraction coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-mS).Results showed that the presence of CIVIV in chilli plants substantially affects the settling preferences of the ***,which preferred to settle on noninfected *** of the egg stage and the longevity and fecundity of adult *** on CmV-infected chilli plants were not markedly different from those on noninfected chilli *** contrast,the developmental time from egg to adult was significantly reduced in CmV-infected chilli plants compared to the noninfected *** results also showed that CmV-infected chilli plants released significantly more linalool and phenylacetaldehyde than noninfected ***,it was suggested that the behavioral response of *** might be modified by CmV-infected plants,which alter the release of specific headspace *** on these results,the modification of plant volatile profiles may help in enhancing the effectiveness of biological control and the protection of crop plants against ***.

In this article, the fractional derivatives in the sense of the modified Riemann-Liouville derivatives together with the modified simple equation method and the multiple exp-function method are employed for constructing the exact solutions and the solitary wave solutions for the nonlinear time fractional Sharma-Tasso- Olver equation. With help of maple, we can get exact explicit l-wave, 2-wave and 3-wave solutions, which include l-soliton, 2-soliton and 3-soliton type solutions if we use the multiple exp-function method while we can get only exact explicit l-wave solution including l-soliton type solution if we use the modified simple equation method. Two cases with specific values of the involved parameters are plotted for each 2-wave and 3-wave solutions.

In a previous work,Zayed and Al-nowehy have applied the Riccati equation mapping method combined with the generalized extended(G/G)-expansion method and found new exact solutions of the nonlinear KPP *** the present article,we propose a different method,namely,a new sub-equation method consists of the Riccati equation mapping method and the(G/G,1/G)-expansion method to find new exact solutions of the perturbed nonlinear Schrödinger equation with Kerr law nonlinearity in optical fiber *** proposed method is not found ***,trigonometric and rational function solutions are *** solutions of the generalized Riccati equation are presented for the first time which are not reported *** solutions of the given nonlinear equation can be applied in ocean engineering for calculating the height of tides in the ocean.

With the increasing railway vehicle speed, pantograph--catenary （PAC） system has become an important part as its incidents still stand among the prin- cipal causes of railway traffic interruption. Indeed, when a rail vehicle moves, the pantograph should constantly press against the underside of the catenary. nonetheless, it is difficult to get around the complexity of the physical interaction between the pantograph and the contact wire, which could deteriorate the quality of the electricity transfer. Thus, PAC system performances could dramati- cally be reduced because of bad current collection. Therefore, in this paper, we present an output feedback solution in order to design an active control of PAC system. The proposed solution is based on the backstepping control and an adaptive observer that estimates both the （unknown） catenary parameters and the system state. All synthesis steps are given and the closed-loop analysis shows asymptotic tracking behavior regardless of the time-vary- ing catenary stiffness. Furthermore, a numerical example shows that the PAC contact can be regulated with desired effect.

The multiwalled carbon nanotubes thin-film-based electrode was fabricated by electrophoretic deposition and modified with copper （Cu） nanoparticles to fabricate Cu/CnTs nanocomposite sensor for nonenzymatic glucose detection. The expensive glassy carbon electrode was replaced by fluorine-doped tin oxide glass containing CnTs film to confine the Cu nanoparticles growth by electrodeposition through cyclic voltammetry （CV）. The ultraviolet visible and X-ray diffraction analysis revealed the successful deposition of Cu nanoparticles on the CnTs-modified electrode. The atomic force microscopy images confirrqed the morphology of electrodeposited Cu on CnTs film as uniformly dispersed particles. The electrocatalytic activity of electrode to the glucose oxidation was investigated in alkaline medium by CV and amperometric measurements. The fabricated sensor exhibited a fast response time of less than 5 s and the sensitivity of 314 μA rnm^-1 cm^-2 with linear concentration range （0.02-3.0 mm） having detection limit 10.0 μm. Due to simple preparation of sensor, Cu/CnTs nanocomposite electrodes are a suitable candidate for reliable determination of glucose with good stability.

An analytic study of the nonlinear Kolmogorov-Petrovskii-Piskunov(KPP) equation is presented in this paper. The Riccati equation method combined with the generalized extended(G’/G)-expansion method is an interesting approach to find more general exact solutions of the nonlinear evolution equations in mathematical physics. We obtain the traveling wave solutions involving parameters, which are expressed by the hyperbolic and trigonometric function solutions. When the parameters are taken as special values, the solitary and periodic wave solutions are given. Comparison of our new results in this paper with the well-known results are given.
