Nonlinear dynamic analysis of moving bilayer plates resting on elastic foundations

The aim of this study is to investigate the dynamic response of axially moving two-layer laminated plates on the Winkler and Pasternak foundations. The upper and lower layers are formed from a bidirectional functionally graded(FG) layer and a graphene platelet(GPL) reinforced porous layer, respectively. Henceforth, the combined layers will be referred to as a two-dimensional(2D) FG/GPL plate. Two types of porosity and three graphene dispersion patterns, each of which is distributed through the plate thickness,are investigated. The mechanical properties of the closed-cell layers are used to define the variation of Poisson’s ratio and the relationship between the porosity coefficients and the mass density. For the GPL reinforced layer, the effective Young’s modulus is derived with the Halpin-Tsai micro-system model, and the rule of mixtures is used to calculate the effective mass density and Poisson’s ratio. The material of the upper 2D-FG layer is graded in two directions, and its effective mechanical properties are also derived with the rule of mixtures. The dynamic governing equations are derived with a first-order shear deformation theory(FSDT) and the von Kármán nonlinear theory. A combination of the dynamic relaxation(DR) and Newmark’s direct integration methods is used to solve the governing equations in both time and space. A parametric study is carried out to explore the effects of the porosity coefficients, porosity and GPL distributions, material gradients, damping ratios, boundary conditions, and elastic foundation stiffnesses on the plate response. It is shown that both the distributions of the porosity and graphene nanofillers significantly affect the dynamic behaviors of the plates. It is also shown that the reduction in the dynamic deflection of the bilayer composite plates is maximized when the porosity and GPL distributions are symmetric.

Numerical Treatments of Functional Fredholm Integral Equation in 2D with Discontinuous Kernels

This work proposes a new definition of the functional Fredholm integral equation in 2D of the second kind with discontinuous kernels (FT-DFIE). Furthermore, the work is concerned to study this new equation numerically. The existence of a unique solution of the equation is proved. In addition, the approximate solutions are obtained by two powerful methods Toeplitz matrix method (Tmm) and Product Nystr?m methods (PNm). The given numerical examples showed the efficiency and accuracy of the introduced methods.

Search for dark matter production in association with the Z′ boson at the LHC in pp collisions at √s=8 TeV using monte Carlo simulations

This analysis evaluates the possibility of the search for Dark matter(Dm)particles using events with a Zf heavy gauge boson and a large missing transverse momentum at the Large Hadron Collider(LHC).We consider the muonic decay of Z'.The analyzed monte Carlo samples were the Open simulated files produced by the Compact muon Solenoid(CmS)collaboration for proton-proton collisions,corresponding to an integrated luminosity of the LHC run-I with 19.7 fb^(-1) at √s=8 *** scenarios,namely a simplified benchmark scenario,called Dark Higgs,and the effective field theory(EFT)formalism,were used for *** were set on Z′,dark matter masses,and the cutoff scale of the EFT.

This work presents a modified formula for the fractal box counting *** method is based on the utilisation of the probability distribution formula in the fractal box *** purpose of this method is to use it for the discrimination of oil spill areas from the surrounding features,*** surface and look-alikes,using RadARSAT-1 SAR Wide beam mode(W1),Standard beam mode(S2)and Standard beam mode(S1)data acquisition under different wind *** results show that the new formula is able to discriminate between oil spills and look-alike *** results also illustrate that the new fractal formula identifies well the deficiency of oil spills in pairs of S2 ***,there are no significant differences between fractal values of look-alikes,low wind zone,and current shear features in different beam modes for acquisition of RadARSAT-1 SAR *** W1 mode data,however,show an error standard deviation of 0.002,thus performing a better discrimination of oil spills than the S1 and S2 mode data.

Bayesian Variable Selection for mixture Process Variable Design Experiment

This paper discussed Bayesian variable selection methods for models from split-plot mixture designs using samples from metropolis-Hastings within the Gibbs sampling algorithm. Bayesian variable selection is easy to implement due to the improvement in computing via mCmC sampling. We described the Bayesian methodology by introducing the Bayesian framework, and explaining markov Chain monte Carlo (mCmC) sampling. The metropolis-Hastings within Gibbs sampling was used to draw dependent samples from the full conditional distributions which were explained. In mixture experiments with process variables, the response depends not only on the proportions of the mixture components but also on the effects of the process variables. In many such mixture-process variable experiments, constraints such as time or cost prohibit the selection of treatments completely at random. In these situations, restrictions on the randomisation force the level combinations of one group of factors to be fixed and the combinations of the other group of factors are run. Then a new level of the first-factor group is set and combinations of the other factors are run. We discussed the computational algorithm for the Stochastic Search Variable Selection (SSVS) in linear mixed models. We extended the computational algorithm of SSVS to fit models from split-plot mixture design by introducing the algorithm of the Stochastic Search Variable Selection for Split-plot Design (SSVS-SPD). The motivation of this extension is that we have two different levels of the experimental units, one for the whole plots and the other for subplots in the split-plot mixture design.

Alumina Effect on the Phase Transformation of 3Y-TZP Ceramics

The isothermal tetragonal-to-monoclinic phase transformation of 3 mol fraction Y2O3-ZrO2 ceramics contain- ing different amounts of Al2O3 during ageing in water at 130℃ for periods of time up to 40 h was investigated to explore the effect of Al2O3 addition on this transformation. The propagation of the transformation into the specimen interiors was suppressed by the addition of Al2O3. The transformation kinetics showed a nucleation and growth mechanism on the specimen surface to be dominant in the low temperature ageing in water environment.

Facing the lateral vibration problem of a machine rotor as a beam on elastic supports in bending,the authors deal with the free vibration of elastically restrained Bernoulli-Euler beams carrying a finite number of concentrated elements along their *** on Rayleigh’s quotient,an iterative strategy is developed to find the approximated torsional stiffness coefficients,which allows the reconciliation between the theoretical model results and the experimental ones,obtained through impact *** mentioned algorithm treats the vibration of continuous beams under a determined set of boundary and continuity conditions, including different torsional stiffness coefficients and the effect of attached concentrated masses and rotational inertias, not only in the energetic terms of the Rayleigh’s quotient but also on the mode shapes,considering the shape functions defined in *** loading cases are examined and examples are given to illustrate the validity of the model and accuracy of the obtained natural frequencies.

Background The aim of this review was to summarize and identify the variations in the effectiveness of psychological interventions on adherence,metabolic control,and coping with stress in adolescents with type 1 diabetes(T1D).methods An electronic search of literature was performed using Pubmed(NLm),Embase(Ovid),CINAHL Plus(EBSCO-host),PsycINFO(Ovid),and Google *** search was limited to include articles reported the effect of one of the psychological interventions:cognitive behavioral therapy(CBT),coping skills training(CST),stress management,or psychotherapy *** report included peer-reviewed articles published in English from January 1990 until may 2019in adolescents with T1D,and summarizes the results of 24 studies that met the inclusion *** Psychological interventions showed differential effects on adherence,metabolic control,and coping with stress in adolescents with *** interventions using principles of CBT appear to have a superior positive effect on regimen adherence compared with other types of psychological *** contrast,metabolic control was significantly improved with the implementation of CST and some forms of *** management and psychotherapy interventions showed significant promises for adolescents to cope with their diabetes-related daily *** However,the findings may add some promises to diabetes management in adolescents,additional research to understand the effect of these interventions is needed.
