Soils in extraterrestrial space: Need for studies under microgravity

With the increased interest of plants in space, gravity cannot be ignored when studying soil-plant-water relations. Therefore, it is important to understand the water relations of soils under zero gravity in space or under reduced gravity on the moon or mars. This paper outlines the problems of moving water in soils under zero gravity or microgravity, as well as growing plants in these soils. It is suggested that microgravity experiments could be done on Earth using both soils and plants. Results from such experiments could be used to grow plants when mankind establishes bases on the moon and mars.

2022年,《深入打好城市黑臭水体治理攻坚战实施方案》发布,要求努力解决河流雨后黑臭和雨季河流断面水质下降问题,力争到2025年,进水BOD浓度高于100毫克/升的城市生活污水处理厂规模占比达90%以上,城市生活污水集中收集率达到70%以上。水行业正面临着防止雨后河流返黑和改善雨季河流水质等新任务。因此,结合近年来成绩、实践和欧美的经验教训,提出和讨论了与进一步改善网-厂-水体城市污水系统升级改造及运行效率相关的四个问题:分流制管网有没有外(雨)水入侵和溢流、污水处理厂的进水浓度应多高、为什么部分污水处理厂需局部扩容、为什么污水管道中流速低于自净流速,并在此基础上,对相关工作提出了建议。

magnesium(mg)alloys are gaining great consideration as body implant materials due to their high biodegradability and ***,they suffer from low corrosion resistance and antibacterial *** this research,semi-powder metallurgy followed by hot extrusion was utilized to produce the magnesium oxide@graphene nanosheets/magnesium(mgO@GNS/mg)composite to improve mechanical,corrosion and cytocompatibility *** have revealed that the incorporation of mgO@GNS nanohybrids into mg-based composite enhanced microhardness and compressive *** vitro,osteoblast cell culture tests show that using mgO@GNS nanohybrid fillers enhances osteoblast adhesion and apatite *** presence of mgO@GNS nanoparticles in the composites decreased the opening defects,micro-cracks and micro-pores of the composites thus preventing the penetration of the corrosive solution into the *** demonstrated that the mgO@GNS/mg composite possesses excellent antibacterial properties because of the combination of the release of mgO and physical damage to bacterium membranes caused by the sharp edges of graphene nanosheets that can effectively damage the cell wall thereby facilitating penetration into the bacterial lipid ***,the mgO@GNS/mg composite with high mechanical strength,antibacterial activity and corrosion resistance is considered to be a promising material for load-bearing implant applications.

Abstract:This paper addresses the problem of improving the optimal value of the maximum Capacity Path(mCP)through expansion in a flexible network,and minimizing the involved *** only condition applied to the cost functions is to be non-decreasing *** is a non-restrictive condition,reflecting the reality in practice,and is considered for the first time in the ***,the total cost of expansion is a combination of max-type cost(e.g.,for supervision)and sum-type cost(*** building infrastructures,price of materials,price of labor,etc.).For this purpose,two types of strategies are combined:(l)increasing the capacity of the existing arcs,and(l)adding potential new *** different problems are introduced and *** the problems have immediate applications in Internet routing *** first one is to extend the network,so that the capacity of an mcP in the modified network becomes equal to a prescribed value,therefore the cost of modifications is minimized.A strongly polynomial-time algorithm is deduced to solve this *** second problem is a network expansion under a budget constraint,so that the capacity of an mcP is maximized.A weakly polynomial-time algorithm is presented to deal with *** the special case when all the costs are linear,a meggido's parametric search technique is used to develop an algorithm for solving the problem in strongly polynomial *** new approach has a time complexity of O(n^(4)),which is better than the time complexity of O(n4 log(n)of the previously known method from literature.

multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning(mARL)has proven to be successful in cooperative *** is used to investigate how autonomous agents with the same interests can connect and act in one *** cooperation scenarios are explored in recreational cooperative augmented reality environments,as well as realworld scenarios in *** this paper,we explore the realm of mARL and its potential applications in cooperative *** focus is on developing a multi-agent system that can collaborate to attack or defend against enemies and achieve victory withminimal *** accomplish this,we utilize the StarCraftmulti-Agent Challenge(SmAC)environment and train four mARL algorithms:Q-learning with mixtures of Experts(QmIX),Value-DecompositionNetwork(VDN),multi-agent Proximal PolicyOptimizer(mAPPO),andmulti-Agent Actor Attention Critic(mAA2C).These algorithms allow multiple agents to cooperate in a specific scenario to achieve the targeted *** results show that the QmIX algorithm outperforms the other three algorithms in the attacking scenario,while the VDN algorithm achieves the best results in the defending ***,the VDNalgorithmreaches the highest value of battle wonmean and the lowest value of dead *** research demonstrates the potential formARL algorithms to be used in real-world applications,such as controllingmultiple robots to provide helpful services or coordinating teams of agents to accomplish tasks that would be impossible for a human to *** SmAC environment provides a unique opportunity to test and evaluate mARL algorithms in a challenging and dynamic environment,and our results show that these algorithms can be used to achieve victory with minimal damage.
