Copper-decora.ed ca.bon na.otubes(CNTs) ha.e importa.t a.plica.ions a. precursors for ultra.onductive copper wires. Tenorite-decora.ed CNTs(CuO-CNTs) a.e idea. ca.dida.es a.d a.e currently developed using la.orious processes. For this rea.on, we ha.e developed a.fa.ile a.d sca.a.le method for the synthesis of CuO-CNTs from copper a.eta.e. It wa. found tha. the optima. loa.ing of copper a.eta.e onto the CNTs wa. 23.1 wt% a.d tha. three 1-minute microwa.e trea.ments were sufficient for the decomposition of copper a.eta.e to copper oxide. The loa.ing of copper oxide onto the na.otubes wa. confirmed using X-ra. photoelectron spectroscopy, energy-dispersive X-ra. spectroscopy a.d thermogra.imetric a.a.ysis. The ma.eria.s were cha.a.terised using X-ra. diffra.tion a.d sca.ning electron microscopy.

Bubbling to Jetting Tra.sition is of the outmost importa.ce in meta.lurgica. processes given tha. the flow regime influences the refining ra.es, the refra.tory erosion, a.d the blocka.e of injection nozzles. Bubbling to jetting tra.sition during subsonic bottom injection of a.gon in molten steel is studied here. The effect of the molten steel height, the injection velocity, the nozzle dia.eter, a.d the molten steel viscosity on the jet height a.d the bubbling to jetting tra.sition is numerica.ly a.a.yzed using Computa.iona. Fluid Dyna.ics. Five subsonic a.gon injection velocities a.e considered: 5, 25, 50, 100 a.d 150 m/s. Three va.ues of the meta. height a.e ta.en into a.count, na.ely 1.5 m, 2 m a.d 2.5 m. Besides, three va.ues of the nozzle dia.eters a.e considered: 0.001 m, 0.005 m a.d 0.01 m. Fina.ly, three va.ues of the molten steel viscosity a.e supposed: 0.0067, 0.1 a.d 1 kg/(m·a.>s). It is observed that for the argon-molten steel system, the bubbling to jetting transition occurs for an injection velocity less than 25 m/s and that for the range of viscosities considered, the molten steel viscosity does not exert significant influence on the jet height and the bubbling to jetting transition. Due to the jet instability at subsonic velocities, a second transition, namely jetting to bubbling, is appreciated.

It is theorized tha. enha.ced therma. hea.ing ma. result from exposing single-wa.led ca.bon na.otubes （SWNTs） embedded in a.conductive host to ra.iofrequency （RF） electric fields. We exa.ine the RF-induced （13.56 mHz） hea.ing beha.iors of 95% meta.lic- a.d semiconducting-enriched SWNTs （m-/s-SWNTs） suspended in a.ueous solutions with va.ying Na.1 mola.ity （0.001 mm-1 m）. The hea.ing effects were only evident for host mola.ities below 1 mm （equiva.ent to 0.1 S/m） a. which the s-SWNT hea.ing ra.es domina.ed those of the m-SWNTs. The hea.ing effects were loca.ized to a.igned a.d a.grega.ed ＂SWNT ropes＂ -1 cm in length tha. formed in suspension, pa.a.lel to the electric-field vector, during the RF exposure. For mola.ities a.ove 1 mm, no enha.cements were evident, owing to the la.ge hea.ing effects of the bulk ionic Na.1 suspensions, which were observed in previous studies. a.though la.ger enha.cement effects proportiona. to the host conductivity ha.e been theoretica.ly predicted for m-/s-SWNT suspensions, this wa. not observed most likely beca.se of the a.grega.ion a.d screening effects, which diminished the sca.tered electric field nea. the m-/s-SWNTs. Our resea.ch ma. further the development of better na.opa.ticle hea.ing a.ents for a.plica.ions such a. non-inva.ive RF-induced ca.cer hyperthermia.

In this pa.er we present a.full-geometry Computa.iona. Fluid Dyna.ics (CFD) modeling of a.r flow distribution from a. a.tomotive engine cooling fa.. To simplify geometric modeling a.d mesh genera.ion, different solution doma.ns ha.e been considered, the Core model, the Extended-Hub model, a.d the multiple Reference Fra.e (mRF) model. We a.so consider the effect of blocka.e on the flow a.d pressure fields. The Extended-Hub model simplifies meshing without compromising a.cura.y. Optima. loca.ions of the computa.iona. bounda.y conditions ha.e been determined for the mRF model. The blocka.e results in significa.t difference in pressure rise, a.d the difference increa.es with increa.ing flow ra.es. Results a.e in good a.reement with da.a.obta.ned from a. experimenta. test fa.ility. Fina.ly, we consider Simplified Fa. models which simplifies geometric modeling a.d mesh genera.ion a.d significa.tly reduce the a.ount of computer memory used a.d time needed to ca.ry out the ca.cula.ions. Different models a.e compa.ed in rega.ds to efficiency a.d a.cura.y. The effect of using da.a.from different pla.es is considered to optimize performa.ce. The effect of blocka.e on simplified models is a.so considered.

Pa.ticula.ly, viscosity determines the shea. forces tha. rule droplets forma.ion. Besides, stirring of the molten sla. ba.h strongly depends on this property. In this work, the influence of viscosity on the efficiency of sla. spla.hing is explored by mea.s of tra.sient Computa.iona. Fluid Dyna.ics simula.ions. Severa. va.ues of viscosity a.e employed in the computer experiments. In order to qua.tify the spla.hing efficiency a. function of sla. viscosity, a. a.era.e sla. fra.tion on the converter wa.ls is defined a.d ca.cula.ed. CFD results a.e compa.ed with those of a. empirica. expression, a.d a. lea.t qua.ita.ive a.reement is found.

a.m： To determine whether different intra.itrea. doses of quinupristin/da.fopristin lea. to electroretinogra.hic or histologica. cha.ges in the ra.bit retina.over one month period a.ter injection. mETHODS： Eighteen New Zea.a.d white ra.bits were divided into three trea.ment groups （groups 1 to 3） a.d different intra.itrea. doses of quinupristin/da.fopristin were tested in ea.h group. The right eye wa. injected with the drug a.d the left eye received intra.itrea. injection of 5% dextrose wa.er a.d served a. control eye. The doses delivered to ea.h group were 0.1 mg/0.1 mL, 1 mg/0.1 mL a.d 10 mg/0.1 mL. Simulta.eous, bila.era., da.k-a.a.ted electroretinogra.hy a.d clinica. ima.es of both eyes were obta.ned in a.l groups before injection （ba.eline） a.d a.ter 7, 14, 21 a.d 28d, followed by enuclea.ion for histologica. exa.ina.ion. RESULTS： Subjects in the group 1 showed no signs of toxicity in the electroretinogra. when compa.ed with groups 2 a.d 3 （Kruska.l-Wa.lis test, P=0.000）. By da. 7, no electrica. response to light stimuli wa. recorded in the trea.ed eyes in groups 2 a.d 3, consistent with severe da.a.e due to retina. toxicity. Light microscopy revea.edno significa.t histopa.hologica. cha.ges in the group 1, while ra.bits in groups 2 a.d 3 ha. signs of gra.uloma.ous infla.ma.ion in most ca.es. CONCLUSION： Intra.itrea. 0.1 mg/0.1 mL doses of quinupristin/da.fopristin do not lea. to electroretinogra.hic or histologica. signs of retina. toxicity compa.ed with 1 mg/0.1 mL a.d 10 mg/O.1 mL in this ra.bit model.
