Evaluation of Groundwater Quality in the deep maastrichtian Aquifer of Senegal Using multivariate Statistics and Water Quality Index-Based GIS

A regional groundwater quality evaluation was conducted in the deep maastrichtian aquifer of Senegal through multivariate statistical analysis and a GIS-based water quality index using physicochemical data from 232 boreholes distributed over the whole country. The aim was to 1) identify the water types and likely factors influencing the hydrochemistry, and 2) determine the suitability of groundwater for drinking and irrigation. Results showed that sodium, chloride, and fluoride are highly correlated with electrical conductivity (ec) reflecting the significant contribution of these elements to groundwater mineralization. The principal component analysis evidenced: 1) salinization processes (loaded by Na+, K+, ec, cl-, F- and HcO3-) controlled by water/rock interaction, seawater intrusion and cation exchange reactions;2) dolomite dissolution loaded by the couple ca2+ and mg2+ and 3) localized mixing with upper aquifers and gypsum dissolution respectively loaded by NO3- and SO42-. The hierarchical clustering analysis distinguished four clusters: 1) freshwater (ec = 594 μs/cm) with mixed-HcO3 water type and ionic contents below WHO standard;2) brackish (Na-mixed) water type with moderate mineralization content (1310 μs/cm), 3) brackish (Na-cl) water type depicted by high ec values (3292 μs/cm) and ionic contents above WHO and 4) saline water with Na-cl water type and very high mineralization contents (5953 μs/cm). The mapping of the groundwater quality index indicated suitable zones for drinking accounting for 54% of the entire area. The occurrence of a central brackish band and its vicinity, which were characterized by high mineralization, yielded unsuitable groundwater for drinking and agricultural uses. Boletus spp. is a wild edible Gelam mushroom, which is only available at coastal area of Bachok, Kelantan. Locals have used this mushroom as a food source and as a traditional medicine. In this study, antioxidants were extracted using mili-Q water and methanol. Extraction of 1.0 g of Boletus spp. mushroom pileus and stipe by water produced 0.22 ± 0.09 g and 0.3 ± 0.07 g of total aqueous soluble extracts, respectively. methanol extraction of 1.0 g Boletus spp. mushroom pileus and stipe produced 0.31 ± 0.08 mg and 0.37 ± 0.05 mg of total methanol soluble extracts, respectively. dPPH assay has been used to determine the value of antioxidant efficiency of each extracts. dPPH assay revealed that the ec50 value of pileus aqueous soluble extract and both pileus and stipe methanol soluble extracts were 1.2 mg/ml. The ec50 value of stipe aqueous soluble extracts was 1.4 mg/ml. The ec50 value of ascorbic acid, an antioxidant control was 0.5 mg/ml. Liquid chromatography- dPPH (Lc-dPPH) assay combined with Quadrupole Time-of-flight mass Spectrometry (QTOF-mS) analysis of 3:2 ratio methanol and water extract has detected 43 antioxidant compounds that were involved in the reduction of dPPH. To identify these compounds, SImcA 3.0 software that consists of PcA, OPLS-dA and s-plot analyses had been used. PcA analysis had shown the antioxidant activity from sample on dPPH as 73.6%. This antioxidant activity confirmed by OPLS-dA analysis had shown the variability between sample and control as 99.6% with 99.3% prediction. S-plot selection had shown ten antioxidant compounds significantly involved in the dPPH assay. Four of these compounds were identified by the mETLIN and NIST databases. The antioxidant metabolites were 2,4,6-trimethylacetophenone imine, glutamyl tryptophan, azatadine and lithocholic acid glycine conjugate. The soil of subtropical vegetable fields is an important source of the atmospheric greenhouse gas nitrous oxide（N2O）. In a field study in subtropical china, the authors used an eddy covariance（ec）system based on a close-path quantum cascade laser（QcL） spectrometer to measure N2O fluxes from a vegetable field. during the experimental period from 9 October 2014 to 18 February 2015,the observed half-hourly N2O fluxes ranged from.10.7 to 1077.4 μg N m^-2h^-1, with a mean value of99.3 μg N m^-2h^-1. The detection limit（95% confidence level） of the ec system for half-hourly fluxes was estimated at 18.5 μg N m^-2h^-1, i.e. smaller than 97.5% of all measured fluxes, and within the range of the lower limit of reported N2O emissions from subtropical vegetable fields. The random uncertainties in the half-hourly fluxes were estimated at 60% on average, of which 62% was due to stochastic variations caused by turbulence and 38% by instrumental noise. The flux systematic uncertainties were estimated at.18% on average, mainly due to the spectral attenuation; however,this negative bias had already been corrected for by calculating half-hourly fluxes. In conclusion,the close-path QcL-based ec technique is capable of measuring the N2O fluxes from the subtropical vegetable fields of china with high reliability and accuracy.

A field experiment was conducted for two consecutive years in a farmer's field at Haji mora Village, dera Ismail Khan (d.I. Khan) in the Northwest Frontier Province (NWPP) of Pakistan to compare various management practices, such as the effect of various organic manures and gypsum in a rice-wheat cropping system on a saline-sodic Entisol (Zindani soil series). The treatments consisted of 1) a control (rice-wheat), 2) gypsum, 3) farmyard manure (FYm), 4) berseem (Trifolium alexzndrinum L.) as green manure (Gm), and 5) dhancha (Sesbania sp.) as Gm. All treatments increased yields of both rice and wheat significantly (P control, with the green manure treatments proving more economical than the others; while they decreased pH, electrical conductivity (ec), and sodium adsorption ratio (SAR) of the soil. Saturation percentage and available water of the soil were raised for all treatments due to an increase in organic matter content of the soil.

Gene therapy using siRNA molecules is nowadays considered as a promising approach. For successful therapy, development of a stable and reliable vector for siRNA is crucial. Non-viral and non-organic vectors like mesoporous silica nanoparticles(mSN) are associated with lack of most viral vector drawbacks, such as toxicity, immunogenicity, but also generally a low nucleic acid carrying capacity. To overcome this hurdle, we here modified the pore walls of mSNs with surface-hyperbranching polymerized poly(ethyleneimine)(hbPEI), which provides an abundance of amino-groups for loading of a larger amount of siRNA molecules via electrostatic adsorption. After loading, the particles were covered with a second layer of pre-polymerized PEI to provide better protection of siRNA inside the pores, more effective cellular uptake and endosomal escape. To test the transfection efficiency of PEI covered si RNA/mSNs, mdA-mB 231 breast cancer cells stably expressing GFP were used. We demonstrate that PEI-coated si RNA/mSN complexes provide more effective delivery of si RNAs compared to unmodified mSNs. Thus, it can be concluded that appropriately surface-modified mSNs can be considered as prospective vectors for therapeutic siRNA delivery.

A partial wave scattering matrix for the total effective complex potential of nucleus nucleus collisions is proposed to easily analyze the angular variations of elastic scattering and fusion cross-sections simultaneously with a unique *** expectation value of the imaginary part of the potential calculated using the distorted waves from the full potential in the elastic channel accounts for σ_(r).This is equated to the sum of the cross-sections due to absorption in different regions of the potential where the imaginary part is actively *** potential is taken as energy independent and features a weakly absorbing nature,which supports the resonance states in various partial wave ***,these resonances show oscillatory behavior changes with respect to energy d(E_(c.m.))=d^(2)(E_(c.m.)σ_(fus))/dE_(c.m.)^(2).In this paper,we discuss elastic scattering and fusion cross-sections in conjunction with the results of d(E_(c.m.))for the^(16)+^(92)Zr system.
