Designing electrocatalysts for HEr in alkaline conditions to overcome the sluggish kinetics associated with the additional water dissociation step is a recognized challenge in promoting the hydrogen *** this end,delicately tuning the atomic-scale structure and surface composition of nanoparticles is a common strategy and,specifically,making use of hybrid structures,can produce synergistic effects that lead to highly active ***,we present a core-shell catalyst of Ag@moS_(2)that shows promising results towards the hydrogen evolution reaction(HEr)in both 0.5 m H_(2)SO_(4)and 0.5 m *** this hybrid structure,the moS_(2)shell is strained and defective,and charge transfer occurs between the conductive core and the shell,contributing to the electrocatalytic *** shelling process results in a large fraction of Ag_(2)S in the cores,and adjusting the relative fractions of Ag,Ag_(2)S,and moS_(2)leads to improved catalytic activity and fast charge-transfer *** suggest that the enhancement of alkaline HEr is associated with a cooperative effect of the interfaces,where the Ag(Ⅰ)sites in Ag_(2)S drive the water dissociation step,and the formed hydrogen subsequently recombines on the defective moS_(2)*** study demonstrates the benefits of hybrid structures as functional nanomaterials and provides a scheme to activate moS_(2)for HEr in alkaline conditions.

Background:After promising initial results from the administration of a third(booster)dose of the BNT162b2 messenger rNA vaccine(Pfizer-BioNTech)to persons 60 years of age or older,the booster campaign in Israel was gradually expanded to persons in younger age groups who had received a second dose at least 5 months ***:we extracted data for the period from July 30 to October 10,2021,from the Israel ministry of Health database regarding 4,696,865 persons 16 years of age or older who had received two doses of BNT162b2 at least 5 months *** the primary analysis,we compared the rates of confirmed coronavirus disease 2019(Covid-19),severe illness,and death among those who had received a booster dose at least 12 days earlier(booster group)with the rates among those who had not received a booster(nonbooster group).In a secondary analysis,we compared the rates in the booster group with the rates among those who had received a booster 3 to 7 days earlier(early postbooster group).we used Poisson regression models to estimate rate ratios after adjusting for possible confounding factors.

In this study, it has been investigated that the incorporation of poly(ethylene glycol) and 4-styrenesulfonic acid sodium salt into acrylamide hydrogel during free radical solution polymerization synthesis for novel highly swollen adsorbents and for the effective removal of some potential pollutants from aqueous solutions such as cationic dyes. Poly(ethylene glycol)diacrylate was used as a multifunctional crosslinker. The main purpose of this study was to combine both monomers and a polymer in a new polymeric system. Dye sorption properties of the polymeric hydrogels were investigated by using cationic dye such as Janus Green B. Swelling and sorption studies were carried out at 25°C. For structural characterization, FT-IR analysis and SEM studies were applied. To determine the sorption behaviors of Janus Green B, some sorption parameters such as dye removal capacity, adsorption percentage, and partition coefficient of the polymeric hydrogels were investigated.

For patients who are unresponsive to pharmacological treatments of glaucoma,an implantable glaucoma drainage devices(GDD)are often used to manage the intraocular ***,the microscale channel that removes excess aqueous humor from the anterior chamber often gets obstructed due to biofouling,which necessitates additional surgical *** we demonstrate the proof-of-concept for smart self-clearing GDD by integrating magnetic microactuators inside the drainage tube of *** magnetic microactuators can be controlled using externally applied magnetic fields to mechanically clear biofouling-based obstruction,thereby eliminating the need for surgical *** this work,our prototype magnetic microactuators were fabricated using low-cost maskless photolithography to expedite design *** fabricated devices were evaluated for their static and dynamic mechanical *** transient numerical analysis,the fluid–structure interaction of our microactuator inside a microtube was characterized to better understand the amount of shear force generated by the device ***,the anti-biofouling performance of our device was evaluated using fluorescein isothiocyanate labeled bovine serum *** microactuators were effective in removing proteinaceous film deposited on device surface as well as on the inner surface of the microchannel,which supports our hypothesis that a smart self-clearing GDD may be possible by integrating microfabricated magnetic actuators in chronically implanted microtubes.

Nanostructured multiphase zirconia films （mZFs） are deposited on Zr substrate by the irradiation of energetic oxygen ions emanated from a plasma focus device. The oxygen operating gas pressure of 1 mbar （1 bar=105 Pa） provides the most appropriate ion energy flux to deposit crystalline ZrO2 films. X-ray diffraction （XrD） patterns reveal the formation of polycrystalline ZrO2 films. The crystallite size （CS）, crystal growth, and dislocation densities are attributed to increasing focus shots, sample axial distances, and working gas pressures. Phase and orientation transformations from t-ZrO2 to m-ZrO2 and c-ZrO2 are associated with increasing focus shots and continuous annealing. For lower （200 ℃） annealing temperature （AT）, full width at half maximum （FwHm） of diffraction peak, CS, and dislocation density （δ） for （020） plane are found to be 0.494, 16.6 nm, and 3.63×10-3 nm-2 while for higher （400 ℃） AT, these parameters for （111） plane are found to be 0.388, 20.87 nm, and 2.29×10-3 nm-2, respectively. Scanning electron microscope （SEm） results demonstrate the formation of rounded grains with uniform distribution. The estimated values of atomic ratio （O/Zr） in ZrO2 films deposited for different axial distances （6 cm, 9 cm, and 12 cm） are found to be 2.1, 2.2, and 2.3, respectively. Fourier transform infrared （FTIr） analysis reveals that the bands appearing at 441 cm-1 and 480 cm-1 belong to m-ZrO2 and t-ZrO2 phases, respectively. maximum microhardness （8.65±0.45 GPa） of ZrO2 film is ～ 6.7 times higher than the microhardness of virgin Zr.
