Collision tumor of the kidney composed of clear cell carcinoma and collecting duct carcinoma: report of a case with unusual morphology and clinical follow-up

We report the case of a 67-year-old female who presented with a large renal mass. Gross examination of the nephrectomy specimen demonstrated a 6-cm renal mass that invaded into the renal sinus and perinephric fat. Histologic examination revealed two distinct tumor types. The first type was a conventional(clear cell) renal cell carcinoma that was of low nuclear grade and comprised the minority of the overall tumor. The second type was a high-grade collecting duct carcinoma with glandular/tubular differentiation and composed the majority of the tumor. Immunohistochemical studies demonstrated distinctive patterns of the two tumor types, thus confirming two distinct lineages. Five months postoperatively, the patient developed metastasis to the lungs and right hilar lymph node region. A fine needle aspiration of a lung nodule demonstrated a metastatic, poorly differentiated carcinoma, similar to the collecting duct carcinoma component in the kidney. Collision tumors of the kidney are rare with fewer than 10 cases reported in the literature. Our report further expands the spectrum of this rare phenomenon.

Low-cost preparation methods for cathodes with high capacity and long cycle life are crucial for commercializing potassium-ion batteries(PIBs).Presently,the charging/discharging strain that develops in the active cathode material of PIBs causes cracks in the particles,leading to a sharp capacity ***,to abate the strain release and the need for an industrially relevant process,a simple low-cost co-precipitation method for synthesizing yolk-shell P3-type K_(0.5)[mn_(0.85)Ni_(0.1)Co_(0.05)]O_(2) (YS-KmNC)was *** cathode material for PIBs,the YS-KmNC delivers a high reversible capacity(96 mAh g^(-1) at 20 mA g^(-1))and excellent cycle stability(80.5%retention over 400 cycles at a high current density of 200 mA g^(-1)).more importantly,a full battery assembled with the YS-KmNC cathode and a commercial graphite anode exhibits a high operating voltage(0.5-3.4 V)and an excellent cycling performance(84.2%retention for 100 cycles at 100 mA g^(-1)).Considering the low-cost,simple production process and high performance of YS-KmNC cathode,this work could pave the way for the commercial development of PIBs.

In this paper, we have applied the Lie algebraic model to nano-bio molecules to determine the vibrational spectra of different stretching and bending vibrational modes. The determined vibrational energy levels by the Lie algebraic model are compared with the experimental data. The results from the theoretical mode[ are consistent with the experimental data. The vibrational energy levels are clustering in the excited states.

manufacturing features represent area of interest on the machinable surface of a part, which can provide a unique set of removable volumes from part. Feature description in standard for exchange of product(STEP) AP224 is an efficient neutral format for the development of feature based process planning. Process planning information of features can be converted to numerical control(NC)code to have complete manufacturing information of part. STEP-NC code provides an efficient manufacturing information model compared to G-m codes. In this work, an interface is developed for extraction of feature information available in AP224(AIm) format and the ruled-based approach is used to select different process planning parameters. A graphical user interface(GUI) is developed for the interface for displaying features information as represented in AP224 file. Furthermore, the interface generates STEP-NC code in AP238 format. The developed interface has three modules. 1) module I: Reading interface for STEP AP224 file and development of GUI. 2)module II: Selection of feature based process planning parameters. 3) module III: Writing interface for STEP-NC(AP238). The developed interface has been implemented in Java through Java standard data access interface(JSDAITm). The generated STEP-NC AP238 code for the test part has been successfully simulated on STEP-NC machine Tm, an AP238 simulator. This article also provides an in-depth view of application interpreted model(AIm) representation format of STEP for AP224 and AP238.

Numerical modeling of friction stir welding using the tools with polygonal pins

Friction stir welding using the tools with polygonal pins is often found to improve the mechanical strength of weld joint in comparison to the tools with circular pins. However, the impacts of pin profile on the peak temperature, tool torque and traverse force, and the resultant mechanical stresses experienced by the tool have been rarely reported in a systematic manner. An estimation of the rate of heat generation for the tools with polygonal pins is challenging due to their non-axisymmetric cross-section about the tool axis. A novel methodology is presented to analytically estimate the rate of heat generation for the tools with polygonal pins. A three-dimensional heat transfer analysis of friction stir welding is carried out using finite element method. The computed temperature field from the heat transfer model is used to estimate the torque, traverse force and the mechanical stresses experienced by regular triangular, square, pentagon and hexagon pins following the principles of solid mechanics. The computed results show that the peak temperature experienced by the tool pin increases with the number of pin sides. However, the resultant maximum shear stress experienced by the pin reduces from the triangular to hexagonal pins.

The light curve solutions of two W Uma binary systems in the intermediate open cluster NGC 7789 are presented in this paper. These variables were observed using the 2 m telescope of the IUCAA-Girawali Observatory. The V passband photo- metric solutions of the two W Uma binaries were obtained using the latest version of the W-D program. The result shows that both systems are H-subtype W Uma binaries with high mass ratios.

As a cathode material for potassium-ion batteries (PIBs), manganese-based layered oxides have attracted widespread attention due to their low cost, ease of synthesis, and high performance. However, the Jahn-Teller effect caused by mn3+ and the irreversible phase transformation of the structure leads to poor cycle stability, limiting the development of layered oxides in PIBs. Herein, we demonstrate the use of phase-transition-free CaTiO_(3) as rivets in K_(0.5)mn_(0.9)Ti_(0.1)O_(2) by a simple solid-state method. As verified by the in situ X-ray diffraction, the CaTiO_(3) rivets effectively prevent the slippage of the transition metal layer during charge and discharge, inhibiting structural degradation. As a result, the obtained K_(0.5)mn_(0.9)Ti_(0.1)O_(2)-0.02CaTiO_(3) shows excellent cycling stability and rate performance, with high capacities of 119.3 and 70.1 mAh·g^(-1) at 20 and 1000 mA·g^(-1), respectively. At 200 mA·g^(-1), the capacity retention remains 94.7% after more than 300 cycles. This work represents a new avenue for designing and optimizing layered cathode materials for PIBs and other batteries.

A comparison of the cDNA sequences （1 056 bp） of Bombyx mori DnaJ 5 homolog with B. mori genome revealed that unlike in other Hsps, it has an intron of 234 bp. The DnaJ 5 homolog contains 351 amino acids, of which 70 contain the conserved DnaJ domain at the N-terminal end. This homolog orB. mori has all desirable functional domains similar to other insects, and the 13 different DnaJ homologs identified in B. mori genome were distributed on different chromosomes. The expressed sequence tag database analysis of Hsp40 gene expression revealed higher expression in wing disc followed by diapause-induced eggs. microarray analysis revealed higher expression of DnaJ 5 homolog at 18th h after oviposition in diapause-induced eggs. Further validation of DnaJ 5 expression through qPCR in diapause-induced and nondiapause eggs at different time intervals revealed higher expression in diapause eggs at 18 and 24 h after oviposition, which coincided with the expression of Hsp70 as the Hsp 40 is its co-chaperone. This study thus provides an outline of the genome organization of lisp40 gene, and its role in egg diapause induction in B. mori.
