研究由开孔聚合物和金属/聚合物泡沫芯制成的轻质夹层板的力学性能和能量吸收性能。通过结合聚合物树脂的增材制造和三层金属(Ni/Ni-Cu/Ni)的电沉积制备多层夹层板,每英寸孔数(PPI)为4、5和6。测试样品在单轴压缩变形过程中的屈服强度,计算其能量吸收密度、互补能和比吸收能(SEA)。结果表明,与相同厚度的纯Ni和Cu夹层板相比,复合夹层板的性能有明显改善。增加PPI和金属层可提高力学性能和能量吸收性能,当PPI为6时,屈服强度(能量吸收密度)由聚合物夹层板的0.12 mPa(0.12mJ/m^(3))提高到三层金属夹层板的1.83mPa(0.67 mJ/m^(3))。对夹层板结构归一化能量的研究表明,夹层板具有可预测的塑性变形行为,多金属层改善了新型夹层板的力学性能。其能量吸收性能的显著增强可保证材料在不同行业的独特应用。

Spouted bed with a porous draft tube is used for drying of grains and chemical products and thermal disinfestations process. This work provides a computational fluid dynamics （CFD） simulation of binary mixtures of glass particles in a spouted bed with a porous draft tube. The simulation used the multi-fluid Eulerian-Eulerian approach based on kinetic theory of granular flows, incorporating a kinetic-frictional constitutive model for dense assemblies of particulate solids and Gidaspow＇s drag model for the interaction between gas and particles. Influences of solids mass fraction and inlet gas flow rate on pressure distribution, gas and particle velocities were studied. The modeling results were compared with the exper- imental work of Ishikura, Nagashima, and Ide （2003） for the flow condition along the axis of the spouted bed. Good agreement between the modeling results and experimental data was observed.

The global cryosphere is experiencing accelerated melting due to climate change.Currently,the Karakoram anomaly is under discussion with a debate about the possibility that the anomaly may have recently ended.This study aims to evaluate the up-to-date changes in snow cover in the western Karakoram region.We observed the snow cover changes in Passu and Ghulkin valleys in the Hunza River basin(HRB)of the Karakoram through multitemporal Landsat satellite data between 1995 and 2022.We found a significant reduction in snow cover in these valleys,with an average reduction rate of 0.42 km~2/yr,resulting in a total reduction of~11.46 km~2 between 1995 and 2022.This reduction in snow cover is consistent with the mass loss of glaciers in the Karakoram region in recent years.The decline in snow cover in these valleys is also consistent with the meteorological data.The temperature in summer(June)has significantly increased whereas the precipitation in the accumulation season(march)has decreased.These rapid changes suggest that it is crucially important to monitor the snow cover on a regular basis to support downstream management of snowmelt runoff.In addition,there is a need of planning for mitigation and adaptation strategies for snow-related hazards.

This investigation aims to assess the mechanical and energy absorption properties of the light sandwich panel portions made of open-cell polymer and metal/polymer foam cores. These multi-layered sandwich panels were produced by additive manufacturing of polymeric resin and electrodeposition of three layers of metals， Ni-Ni/Cu-Ni， with 4，5， and 6 pores per inch. The yield strength， energy absorption density， complementary energy， and SEA are measured during a uniaxial compression deformation. The results indicate that compared with pure Ni and Cu sandwich panel portions with the same thickness， the abovementioned properties of the sandwich panels had a noteworthy improvement. mechanical and energy absorption properties improved by increasing the PPI and the presence of metallic layers. In a sandwich panel with 6 PPI， the yield strength and energy absorption density improved from 0.12 mPa (0.13 mJ.m-3) to 1.83 mPa (0.67 mJ.m-3) for the polymeric and the metallic sandwich panel， respectively. Investigations on normalized energies of these structures shows a predictable behavior for these sandwich panels during plastic deformations. The results show the multi metallic layers improved the mechanical behavior of these novel sandwich panels. Noticeable enhancement of the calculated properties of these advanced materials guarantees their unique application in variable industries.

A two-fluid model （TFm） ofmultiphase flows based on the kinetic theory and small frictional limit boundary condition of granular flow was used to study the behavior of dense to dilute gas-solid flows in vertical pneumatic conveyor. An axisymmetric 2-dimensional, vertical pipe with 5.6 m length and 0.01 m internal diameter was chosen as the computation domain, same to that used for experimentation in the literature. The chosen particles are spherical, of diameter 1.91 mm and density 2500 kg/m3. Turbulence interaction between the gas and particle phases was investigated by Simonin＇s and Ahmadi＇s models and their numerical results were validated for dilute to dense conveying of particles. Flow regimes transition and pressure drop were predicted. Voidage and velocity profiles of each phase were calculated in radial direction at different lengths of the conveying pipe. It was found that the voidage has a minimum, and gas and solid velocities have maximum values along the center line of the conveying pipe and pressure drop has a minimum value in transition from dense slugging to dilute stable flow regime. Slug length and pressure fluctuation reduction were predicted with increasing gas velocity, too. It is shown that solid phase tur- bulence plays a significant role in numerical prediction of hydrodynamics of conveyor and the capability of particles turbulence models deDends on tuning parameters of sliD-wall boundarv condition.

The radial dependence of edge plasma turbulence is investigated in the IR-T1 tokamak.The radial profile of the fluctuation level and spectra are measured using an array of Langmuir probes(rake probe)in the r/a=0.75-1.2 region.In all radial positions the edge plasma is turbulently unstable,with a broad band fluctuation spectrum in the frequency range f=10-1000 kHz.The relative fluctuation level,as monitored by the ion saturation current J_(+),is always highest near the wall and decreases monotonically toward the plasma center,while the shape of the fluctuation power spectra is almost unchanged.The result of this experiment shows that in contrast to the more inner regions,the plasma near the wall does not simply have a small density fluctuation about a mean,but rather a shredded structure in which one can imagine that discrete shreds of plasma interact with one another rather than with the average background.

Plasma-surface interaction experiments on TiN coated stainless steel 316L （S.S.316L） using a plasma focus （PF） device have been performed in an attempt to investigate whether we can use the hardness property of TiN against erosion to increase the lifetime of the mirrors used in plasma diagnostics equipment. Firstly, two similar S.S.316L samples were chosen for this purpose. One of the samples was coated with TiN by using a PF device, while the other was kept intact as a reference for investigating the effect of TiN coating. Then, in order to study the coating effects, these samples were exposed to 200 shots of hydrogen plasma with a total duration of 7 s in a tokamak. Before and after exposure, samples were analyzed by using atomic force microscopy （AFm）, scanning electron microscopy （SEm）, X-ray diffraction （XRD） and a spectrophotometer. It was found that the uncoated sample was severely damaged, its reflection dropped significantly, and it developed some cracks and lines, while no significant change was observed on the surface characteristic of the coated sample. moreover the weight loss of the uncoated sample was higher in comparison to the coated one. Therefore the results of this experiment showed that the coating of S.S.316L by TiN using a PF device is a useful method to strengthen it against plasma erosion and with further optimization it could possibly be used in preparing plasma diagnostics mirrors.

In this work, the use of lithium niobate （LiNbO3）, a ferroelectric and photocatalyst material, is investi- gated as a new type of cathode catalyst for wastewater-fed single-chamber microbial fuel cells （mFCs）. Carbon cloth electrodes coated with LiNbO3 were studied with and without UV-vis irradiation to assess its photocatalytic behavior in these devices. The synthesized phase of LiNbO3 was characterized by X- ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, particle size distribution, and transmission electron microscopy analyses. The mFC containing a LiNbO3-based cathode exhibited a maximum open circuit potential and power output of 400 mV and 131 mW/m^3, respectively, under irradiation. This cathode configuration also achieved the maximum chemical oxygen demand removal of 84% after 120 h of mFC operation. These results show that ferroelectric materials such as LiNbO3 could be used as cathode cat- alysts in mFC devices. As a complementary analysis, the removal of the heavy metals detected in the wastewater was also monitored.

microbial fuel cells(mFCs)are bio-electrochemical systems that can directly convert the chemical energy contained in an effluent into bioelectricity by the action of microorganisms.The performance of these devices is heavily impacted by the choice of the material that forms the cathode.This work focuses on the assessment of ferroelectric and photocatalytic materials as a new class of non-precious catalysts for mFC cathode construction.A series of cathodes based on mixed oxide solid solution of LiTaO_3with WO_3formulated as Li_(1-x)Ta_(1-x)W_xO_3(x=0,0.10,0.20 and0.25),were prepared and investigated in mFCs.The catalyst phases were synthesized,identified and characterized by DRX,PSD,mET and UV–Vis absorption spectroscopy.The cathodes were tested as photoelectrocatalysts in the presence and in the absence of visible light in devices fed with industrial wastewater.The results revealed that the catalytic activity of the cathodes strongly depends on the ratio of substitution of W^(6+)in the LiTaO_3matrix.The maximum power densities generated by the mFC working with this series of cathodes increased from60.45 mW·m^(-3)for x=0.00(LiTaO_3)to 107.2 mW·m^(-3)for x=0.10,showing that insertion of W^(6+)in the tantalate matrix can improve the photocatalytic activity of this material.moreover,mFCs operating under optimal conditions were capable of reducing the load of chemical oxygen demand by 79%(COD_(initial)=1030 mg·L^(-1)).
