Efficient and durable electrocatalysts are instrumental in enabling next-generation fuel cell *** present,expensive precious metals are used as state-of-the-art *** this report,cost-effective nanosized tantalum-based alternatives are synthesized for the first time via a green and scalable laser pyrolysis method as bifunctional catalysts for direct peroxide–peroxide fuel *** rapid laser pyrolysis strategy allows for the production of nanoparticles at a laboratory scale of grams per hour,compatible with a detailed exploration of the functional properties of as-synthesized *** varying the precursor ratio between ammonia and tantalum ethanolate,five tantalum-based nanomaterials(TaNOC)are prepared with crystalline phases of Ta_(2)O_(5),Ta_(4)N_(5),Ta_(3)N_(5),and TaN in tunable *** studies in neutral and alkaline conditions demonstrate that Ta_(4)N_(5) is the active component for both H_(2)O_(2) oxidation and *** isotope effect studies show that protons are involved at or before the rate-determining ***-term stability studies indicate that Ta_(3)N_(5) grants surfactant-free TaNOC-enhanced longevity during electrocatalytic *** together,bifunctional TaNOC can act as active and robust electrocatalysts for H_(2)O_(2) reduction and *** pyrolysis is envisioned to produce refractory metal nanomaterials with boosted corrosion resistance for energy catalysis.

Background:Adenosine triphosphatase inhibitory factor 1(IF1)is a key protein involved in energy ***1 has been linked to various agerelated diseases,although its relationship with physical activity(PA)remains ***,the apolipoprotein A-I(apoA-I),a PA-modulated lipoprotein,could play a role in this relationship because it shares a binding site with IF1 on the cell-surface ATP *** examined here the associations between chronic PA and plasma IF1 concentrations among older adults,and we investigated whether apoA-I mediated these ***:In the present work,1096 healthy adults(63.8%females)aged 70 years and over who were involved in the multidomain Alzheimer Prevention Trial study were ***1 plasma concentrations(square root of ng/mL)were measured at the 1-year visit of the multidomain Alzheimer Prevention Trial,while PA levels(square root of metabolic equivalent task min/week)were assessed using questionnaires administered each year from baseline to the 3-year *** linear regressions were performed to investigate the associations between the first-year mean PA levels and IF1 *** analyses were conducted to examine whether apoA-I mediated these *** linear regressions were carried out to investigate whether the 1-year visit IF1 concentrations predicted subsequent changes in ***:multiple linear regressions indicated that first-year mean PA levels were positively associated with IF1 concentrations(B=0.021;SE=0.010;p=0.043).mediation analyses revealed that about 37.7%of this relationship was mediated by apoA-I(B_(ab)=0.008;SE=0.004;p=0.023).Longitudinal investigations demonstrated that higher concentrations of IF1 at the 1-year visit predicted a faster decline in PA levels over the subsequent 2 years(time×IF1:B=0.148;SE=0.066;p=0.025).Conclusion:This study demonstrates that regular PA is associated with plasma IF1 concentrations,and it suggests that apoA-I partly med

The development of foils for racing boats has changed the strategy of ***,the America's cup held in San Francisco,has been the theatre of a tragicomic history due to the foils. During the last round,the New-Zealand boat was winning by 8 to1 against the defender USA. The winner is the first with 9 victories. USA team understood suddenly(may be) how to use the control of the pitching of the main foils by adjusting the rake in order to stabilize the ship. And USA won by 9 victories against 8 to the challenger NZ. The goal in this paper is to point out few aspects which could be taken into account in order to improve this mysterious control law which is known as the key of the victory of the USA team. There are certainly many reasons and in particular the cleverness of the sailors and of all the engineering team behind this project. But it appears interesting to have a mathematical discussion,even if it is a partial one,on the mechanical behaviour of these extraordinary sailing boats. The numerical examples given here are not the true *** have just been invented in order to explain the theoretical developments concerning three points: The possibility of tacking on the foils for sailing upwind,the nature of foiling instabilities,if there are,when the boat is flying and the control laws.

Comparative Analysis of Different Evaluation Functions for Protein Structure Prediction Under the HP model

The HP model for protein structure prediction abstracts the fact that hydrophobicity is a dominant force in the protein folding process. This challenging combinatorial optimization problem has been widely addressed through metaheuristics. The evaluation function is a key component for the success of metaheuristics; the poor discrimination of the conventional evaluation function of the HP model has motivated the proposal of alternative formulations for this component. This comparative analysis inquires into the effectiveness of seven different evaluation functions for the HP model. The degree of discrimination provided by each of the studied functions, their capability to preserve a rank ordering among potential solutions which is consistent with the original objective of the HP model, as well as their effect on the performance of local search methods are analyzed. The obtained results indicate that studying alternative evaluation schemes for the HP model represents a highly valuable direction which merits more attention.

为了定位向日葵体细胞胚基因和筛选相关标记用于辅助育种,以31个重组自交系为材料,利用下胚轴表皮细胞诱导体细胞胚,获得了与体细胞胚发生率相关的,位于第5、10、13连锁群上的3个QTL位点,可分别解释表型变异的14.61％、10.04％和14.07％.同时,获得了与每块胚数相关的9个QTL位点,分别位于第2、8、10、11、12和19连锁群上,可解释表型变异的6.64％～16.96％,其中4个QTL位点位于第10连锁群上且位置相邻（在34.57 ～ 47.1Ocm之间）,可解释表型变异的40.39％.为了验证所获结果,在31个重组自交系中,筛选出2个体细胞胚发生率高的株系和1个低的株系杂交,构建了2个F2分离群体.利用AFLP和SSr标记对F2群体进行扫描,在与体细胞胚发生率相关的第5、10、13条连锁群上分别增加了24、6和18个新标记,标间距从6.80 ～11.40cm缩短到5.10～5.60cm.通过对F2群体与亲本基因型进行QTL区域的对比分析,预选出7个体细胞胚发生率高和7个低的株系,利用F3家系诱导体细胞胚进行验证.结果表明,预选结果与实际获得的结果完全一致,控制向日葵每块胚数的基因主要位于第10连锁群上,控制体细胞胚发生率的基因主要位于第5、13连锁群上;4个AFLP标记（e32m50-1、e38 m49-2、e40m49-1、e32m62-10）是最靠近控制体细胞胚发生基因的标记,可以作为该性状的辅助选择标记.

This paper presents a study research in the laboratory of three clayey soils from the depression of the Lama, a tropical climate area where disorders appear on construction and roads. Samples were tested to establish the relationship between their mineralogy and their geotechnical properties. On the three clayey soils, analyses were performed to characterize the macroscopic behavior (physical tests, free swelling test and compressibility tests) and the microstructural, chemical and mineralogical characterizations by thermal analysis, chemical analysis, X-ray diffraction, Scanning Electron microscopy observations complementary X-ray EDS analyses. At first glance, the results of physical and compressibility tests appear not to be consistent with the free swelling test results. Indeed, these results highlighted differences in the behaviors of the samples because the swelling potential revealed by the results of physical and compressibility test does not follow the same trend as the one given by the free swelling test result. The main clay minerals in the studied clayey soils varied from fibrous clays (palygorskite) to best-known clays such as smectite and kaolinite. microstructural, chemical and mineralogical analyses allowed to understand and explain the different trends obtained by the different types of geotechnical characterization tests of studied clayey soils.
