BACKGROUND Chronic hepatitis C virus(HCV)has been associated with hepatic and extrahe-patic *** studies have shown an association between colorectal adenomas and HCV *** To study the prevalence of colorectal adenomas in patients with HCV compared to the general population and to evaluate if it is an independent risk factor for colorectal *** patients were divided into HCV and non-HCV based on their HCV RNA *** with alcoholic liver disease,hepatitis B infection,and inflammatory bowel disease were *** variables were analyzed using the mann-Whitney U test,and categorical variables usingχ^(2) with ppendent variables)were matched in both groups by propensity score matching,followed by multivariate regression *** Of the 415 patients screened,109 HCV patients and 97 non-HCV patients with colonoscopy results were included in the *** patients were older,had a smoking history,had less frequent aspirin use,and had a lower body mass index(BmI)(pmber of patients with adenomas(adenoma detection rate of 53.2%vs 34%.p=0.006).We performed a propensity-matched multivariate analysis where HCV infection was significantly associated with colorectal adenoma(OR:2.070,p=0.019).CONCLUSION Our study shows a significantly higher rate of adenomas in HCV patients compared to the general *** studies would help determine if the increase in adenoma detection lowers the risk for colorectal cancer.

Soil Carbon and Nitrogen in Response to perennial Bioenergy Grass, Cover Crop and Nitrogen Fertilization

Cover crop and nitrogen （N） fertilization may maintain soil organic matter under bioenergy perennial grass where removal of aboveground biomass for feedstock to produce cellulosic ethanol can reduce soil quality. We evaluated the effects of cover crops and N fertilization rates on soil organic carbon （C）（SOC）, total N （STN）, ammonium N （NH4-N）, and nitrate N （NO3-N） contents at the 0-5, 5-15, and 15-30 cm depths under perennial bioenergy grass from 2010 to 2014 in the southeastern USA. Treatments included unbalanced combinations of perennial bioenergy grass, energy cane （Saccharum spontaneum L.） or elephant grass （pennisetum pur- pureum Schumazh.）, cover crop, crimson clover （Trifolium incarnatum L.）, and N fertilization rates （0, 100, and 200 kg N ha-l）. Cover crop biomass and C and N contents were greater in the treatment of energy cane with cover crop and 100 kg N ha-1 than in the treatment of energy cane and elephant grass. The SOC and STN contents at 0-5 and 5-15 cm were 9%-20% greater in the treatments of elephant grass with cover crop and with or without 100 kg N ha-1 than in most of the other treatments. The soil NO3-N content at 0--5 cm was 31%-45% greater in the treatment of energy cane with cover crop and 100 kg N ha-1 than in most of the other treatments. The SOC sequestration increased from 0.1 to 1.0 mg C ha-1 year-1 and the STN sequestration from 0.03 to 0.11 mg N ha-1 year-1 from 2010 to 2014 for various treatments and depths. In contrast, the soil NH4-N and NO3-N contents varied among treatments, depths, and years. Soil C and N storages can be enriched and residual NO3-N content can be reduced by using elephant grass with cover crop and with or without N fertilization at a moderate rate.

An Approximate Analytical Solution of Imploding Strong Shocks in a Non-Ideal Gas through Lie Group Analysis

The method of Lie group transformation is used to obtain an approximate analytical solution to the system of first-order quasilinear partial differential equations that govern a one-dimensional unsteady planer, cylindrically symmetric and spherically symmetric motion in a non-ideal gas, involving strong shock waves. Invariance groups admitted by the governing system of partial differential equations, which are indeed continuous group of transformations under which the system of partial differential equations remains invariant, are determined, and the complete Lie algebra of infinitesimal symmetries is established. The infinitesimal generators are used to construct the similarity variables. These similarity variables are used to reduce the governing system of partial differential equations into a system of ordinary differential equations.

Stimulated Raman Scattering in a Weakly polar Ⅲ-Ⅴ Semiconductor： Effect of dc magnetic Field and Free Carrier Concentration

Using the hydrodynamic model of semiconductor plasmas, we perform an analytical investigation of stimulated Raman scattering （SITS） of an electromagnetic pump wave in a transversely magnetized weakly polar semicon- ductor arising from electron-density perturbations and molecular vibrations of the medium both produced at the longitudinal optical phonon frequency. Assuming that the origin of SItS lies in the third-order susceptibility of the medium, we investigate the growth rate of Stokes mode. The dependence of stimulated Raman gain on the external dc magnetic field strength and free carrier concentration is reported. The possibility of the occurrence of optical phase conjugation via SItS is also studied. The steady-state Raman gain is found to be greatly enhanced by the presence of the strong external dc magnetic field.

Enhancement of Second- and Third-Order Nonlinear Optical Susceptibilities in magnetized Semiconductors

Using electromagnetic treatment, an expression of effective nonlinear optical susceptibility χe [= χe^（2）＋ χe^（3） E] is obtained for Ⅲ-Ⅴ semiconducting crystals in an applied transverse dc magnetic fiem under off-resonant transition regime. The origin of nonlinear interaction lies in nonlinear polarization arising from the crystal properties such as piezoelectricity and electrostriction. Numerical estimates have been made by a representative n-InSb crystal at 77K duly irradiated by a pulsed 10.6-μm CO2 laser under off-resonant transition regime. Efforts are dedicated to optimizing doping level and externally applied dc magnetic field to achieve maximum χe^（2） and χ3^（3）. The results are found to be in good agreement with the available literature. The analysis shows that χe^（2） and χe^（3） can be significantly enhanced in doped Ⅲ-Ⅴ semiconductors by the proper selection of doping concentration and dc magnetic field, which confirms its potential as a candidate material for the fabrication of nonlinear optical devices.

petrographic characteristics and paleoenvironmental history of Eocene lignites of Cambay basin, Western India

Lignite samples collected from Vastan, Rajpardi and Tadkeshwar lignite mines of Cambay basin （Gujarat） were subjected to organic petrographic investigations and geochemical analyses and the data, thus generated, is used to reconstruct the paleodepositional history of these lignite sequences. The lignites of Cambay basin dominantly comprise huminite maceral group （71.6%-86.3%） followed by liptinite （10.1%-19.3%） and inertinite （3.6%-11.0%） maceral groups. The mineral matter varies from 9.0% to 20.0%. The petrography based facies model indicates that these lignites have high values of gelification index （GI） and low tissue preservation index revealing a continuous wet condition in the basin and a relatively slower rate of subsidence during the decay of organic matter. On several occasions, during the formation of seams in Tadkeshwar, Rajpardi and Vastan mines, the value of GI exceeded 10 which indicates a forest permanently flooded and the cause of pronounced degree of degradation. However, few sections in Tadkeshwar seam had relatively drier spells of environmental conditions due to fluctuation in the water table as revealed by moderately high content of inertinite macerals. This is specially indicated by the occurrence of funginite which normally thrives in the upper oxy- genated peatigenic layer and indicates prevalence of oxic conditions during plant deposition. Such conditions prevailed during a transgressive phase but there were intermittent fluvial activities also giving rise to supratidal flood plain as reflected in the form of associated carbonaceous shales in the basin.

Interest in transactive energy frameworks(TEFs)is proliferating due to the modern smart grid *** paper proposes a TEF,which applies auction-theory,incorporates a system of agents,and facilitates a transactive energy market(TEm)through an ***,it also enables peer-to-peer(p2p)energy trading among the residential buildings in community microgrid for possible monetary *** this framework,there are three agents,namely,auctioneer,participants,and *** auctioneer is a managing agent modeled using auction theory to determine day-ahead internal market-clearing price and *** participants are autonomous and rational decision-makers;they aim to minimize their electricity bills through the demand response(DR)*** types of architectures,one with the third-party agent demonstrated using the mATLAB environment and the other with the virtual agent(without third-party)implemented using the blockchain environment are *** simulation results reflect significant monetary benefits to each market participant,improved community selfsufficiency,self-consumption,and reduced reliance on the utility grid.
