Enhancing visible-light-driven NO oxidation through molecular‐level insights of dye-loaded sea sands

Natural minerals,abundant and easily obtained through simple physical processing,offer a cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution for dyeing wastewater disposal and air pollution *** study investigates the photocatalytic removal of NO using natural different types of dyes,loaded on natural sand,under visible light *** examining various coating concentrations of dyes and sand weights,we discovered that sand loaded with Rhodamine B(RhB)exhibits high activity for the photo-oxidation of NO.A combination results of X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)and thermogravimetric(TG)analyses confirm the presence of SiO_(2),CaCO_(3),Al_(2)O_(3)and iron oxides as the main components of the ***,studying RhB-loaded individual components reveals that CaCO_(3)plays a crucial role in enhancing the NO removal *** results and theoretical calculations demonstrate the establishment of a directional charge transfer channel from CaCO_(3)to RhB,facilitating the adsorption and activation of molecular NO and O_(2).This work not only promotes the utilization of natural mineral resources but also enriches the fields of environmental photochemistry and semiconductor photocatalysis.

The study addresses the integration of the Building Information modelling (BIm) methodology with Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies in the context of the development of a multidisciplinary project, involving architecture, structures, water network and electrical system components. In order to cover in detail the various design features, the case study was limited to a specific area of a house, the sanitary rooms, as it presents sufficient complexity in modeling and the application of VR and AR software. The VR/AR functionalities applied over the BIm model increase the potential of BIm in the construction sector, contributing to the achievement of a high level of collaboration and control of the project based on an immersive and interactive environment. The elaboration of the different phases of a BIm design requires the transfer of models between BIm and VR/AR systems, allowing us to analyze the main advantages that BIm/VR/AR integration can introduce in the construction industry. The study contributes positively to achieving new knowledge in BIm, being disseminated in an academic research work and illustrated in a practical context.

methionine(met)is an essential and first limiting amino acid in the poultry diet that plays a significant role in chicken embryonic development and *** present study examined the effect of in ovo injection of DL-met and L-met sources and genotypes on chicken embryonic-intestinal development and *** eggs of the two genotypes,TETRA-SL layer hybrid(TSL)—commercial layer hybrid and Hungarian Partridge colored hen breed(HPC)—a native genotype,were randomly distributed into four treatments for each *** treatment groups include the following:1)control non-injected eggs(NoIn);2)saline-injected(SaIn);3)DL-met injected(DLm);and 4)L-met injected(Lm).The in ovo injection was carried out on 17.5 d of embryonic development;after hatching,eight chicks per group were sacrificed,and the jejunum was extracted for *** results showed that both DLm and Lm groups had enhanced intestinal development as evidenced by increased villus width,villus height,and villus area(Pmpared to the *** DLm group had significantly reduced crypt depth,glutathione(GSH)content,glutathione S-transferase 3 alpha(GST3),occludin(OCLN)gene expression and increased villus height to crypt depth ratio in the TSL genotype than the Lm group(PmD2),occludin(OCLN),superoxide dismutase 1(SOD1),and GST3 genes than the TSL genotype(Pmet enhanced intestinal development,and function,with genotypes responding differently under normal *** also influenced the expression of intestinal antioxidants,tight junction,and growth-related genes.

Theoretical and Experimental Study of the Reaction of 2-Guanidinobenzimidazole on a Series of meta-Substituted Benzaldehydes

The syntheses of a variety of 1,3,5-triazinebenzimidazoles obtained by the cyclocondensafion reaction of 2-guanidinobenzimidazole with a series of meta-substituted benzaldehydes were reported. The prepared compounds were fully characterized by IR and NmR spectroscopies. Based on the density functional theory（DFT） calculations method, quantum chemical calculations were performed by Gaussian 09 set of programs. All possible transition states, reactants and products were fully optimized at the hybrid density functional B3LYP level using the 6-311＋G（d,p）. The geometries of five possible tautomers of 2-amino-4-aryl[1,3,5]triazino[1,2-a]benzimidazoles were optimized in ethanol, using conductor like polarizable confinuum（CPCm） in the gas phase. The energetic diagrams of tautomeric equilibrium showed that form A is the most stable tautomer which proved to be in accordance with the X-ray diffraction structure analysis. In order to interpret the reaction mechanism, the chemical reactivity was studied using local and global reactivity indexes.

multi-institutional analysis of independent predictors for burn mortality in the United States

Background:Previous reports individually identified different factors that predict death after burns. The authors employed the multi-center American Burn Association's (ABA) National Burn Repository (NBR) to elucidate which parameters have the highest negative impact on burn mortality. methods:We audited data from the NBR v8.0 for the years 2002–2011 and included 137,061 patients in our study. The cases were stratified into two cohorts based on the primary outcome of death/survival and then evaluated for demographic data, intraoperative details, and their morbidity after admission. A multivariable regression analysis aimed to identify independent risk factors associated with mortality. Results:A total of 3.3%of patients in this analysis did not survive their burn injuries. Of those, 52.0%expired within 7 days after admission. Patients in the mortality cohort were of older age (pmore frequently female (pmore pre-existing comorbidities (pme, and occurrence of complications were higher compared to survivors (pmplication (OR=4.09, CI 3.27–5.12), inhalation injury (OR=3.84, CI 3.38–4.36), and the need for operative procedures (OR=2.60, CI 2.20–3.08) were the strongest independent contributors to mortality after burns (pmorbidities were not a statistical risk factor. Conclusion:Uninsured status, inhalation injury, in-hospital complications, and operative procedures were the strongest mortality predictors after burns. Since most fatal outcomes (52.0%) occur within 7 days after injury, physicians and medical staff need to be aware of these risk factors upon patient admission to a burn center.

The present work investigates the effect of high praseodymium oxide(Pr6O11)content on the microstructure and phase formation of mullite(3Al_(2)O_(3)·2SiO_(2))precursor by means of the spark plasma sintering process.30 wt%Pr6O11was added to a mullite precursor consisting of aluminum nitrate nonahydrate and tetraethyl orthosilicate through a high energy mixer mill in ethanol *** spark plasma sintering was performed at a te mperature of 1200℃under 23 Pa vacuum co nditions by applying initial and final pressure of 10 and 30 mPa,*** analysis confirms the existence of mullite,alumina,Pr6O11,Pr2O3and quartz as the only crystalline *** images reveal an interesting deposition of hexagonal-shaped Al_(2)O_(3)particles on polished surfaces and complex oxide phases of the fiber network adhering to alumina particles in the form of tails seen on the fracture ***,the bending strength of 213±21 mPa,Vickers hardness of 9.3±0.1 mPa and fracture toughness of6.21±0.12 mPa·m1/2are obtained for the prepared composite.

Professional One-Day Training Course in BIm: A Practice Overview of multi-Applicability in Construction

The implementation of Building Information modelling (BIm) methodology in the construction industry has been covering wide applicability with recognized benefits in designing, constructing and operating buildings. A recent short course organized in the University of Lisbon, actualized with the most relevant achievement based in master research, was offered to professionals of the industry, namely, architects and civil engineers coming from diverse engineering areas, environment, construction, maintenance, consult and patrim.nial enterprises and also from public organizations like city councils. The proposed action covers the areas of construction (conflict analysis, planning and materials take-off), structures (interoperability, analyses and transfer of information between software) and the most recent Heritage Building Information modelling (HBIm) topic. The course aims to contribute to the dissemination of the potential of BIm in the areas of designing, construction and refurbishing of historical buildings. The participants followed the course with great interest and satisfaction, formulating several questions directed to the particular activity of each of the attendees.

An insight into the mechanical behavior of binary granular soils

This paper investigates the participation of the fines fraction in the load-carrying structure of binary mixtures of granular soils. For this purpose, various fractions of two fine sands were added to two coarse sands with the same particle size distribution, but different particle shape characteristics. Based on the results of 144 direct shear tests, it was found that fines participation in the load-bearing structure increases with fines content. At the same fines content, the participation of the fines in the load-carrying structure of loose mixtures is greater than in samples that were initially compacted. In addition, it was observed that fines participation rises with the increase in the average size of the fines fraction.

Background:Skeletal muscle energetics decline with age,and physical activity(PA)has been shown to offset these declines in older ***,many studies reporting these effects were based on self-reported PA or structured exercise ***,we examined the associations of accelerometry-measured and self-reported PA and sedentary behavior(SB)with skeletal muscle energetics and explored the extent to which PA and sedentary behavior would attenuate the associations of age with muscle ***:As part of the Study of muscle,mobility and Aging,enrolled older adults(n=879),810(age=76.4±5.0 years old,mean±SD;58%women)had maximal muscle oxidative capacity measured ex vivo via high-resolution re spirometry of permeabilized myofibers(maximal oxidative phosphorylation(maxOXPHOS))and in vivo by ^(31)phosphorus magnetic resonance spectroscopy(maximal adenosine triphosphate(ATP_(max))).Accelerometry-measured sedentary behavior,light activity,and moderate-to-vigorous PA(mVPA)were assessed using a wrist-worn ActiGraph GT9X over 7 ***-reported sedentary behavior,mVPA,and all PA were assessed with the Community Healthy Activities model Program for Seniors(CHAmPS)*** regression models with progressive covariate adjustments evaluated the associations of sedentary behavior and PA with muscle energetics,as well as the attenuation of the age/muscle energetics association by mVP A and sedentary *** a sensitivity analysis,we also examined activPAL-measured daily step count and time spent in sedentary behavior and their associations with muscle ***:Every 30 min/day more of ActiGraph-measured mVPA was associated with 0.65 pmol/(s×mg)higher maxOXPHOS and 0.012 mm/s higher ATP_(max)after adjusting for age,site/technician,and sex(pmaxOXPHOS or ATP_(max).meanwhile,every 30 min/day spent in ActiGraph-measured sedentary behavior was associated with 0.39 pmol/s×mg lower maxOXPHOS and0.

Seismic performance and comparison of three different I beam to box column joints

Despite the inherently advantages of the box column, finding the best option for the I beam to the box column connection is the main challenge in using the box column as a structural member for special moment frames. In this paper, the seismic performance of urtreinforced connection, weakened connection and strengthened connection was evaluated through a comprehensive experimental program. The seismic comparisons were fabricated by assessing the strength, ductility and energy dissipation in each configuration. Three full scale tests with several connections were carried out. All the specimens were subjected to cyclic loading and prior to failure by forming a plastic hinge in the beam, all the connections managed to reach an inelastic rotation of more than 6.0% rad. The experimental and analytical results showed that the seismic performance of the strengthened connection with flange and shear plates turned out to be the most effective in the beam to the box column connection. moreover, the normalized stress distribution of the continuity plates revealed that the possibility of the weld fracture in unreinforced connection is more than other specimens.
