Seed priming improves early seedling vigor, growth and productivity of spring maize

Potential of seed priming treatments in improving the performance of early planted maize was evaluated against timely planting. Seeds of maize hybrid FH-810 were soaked in water (hydropriming), CaCl2 (2.2%, osmopriming), moringa leaf extracts (mLE 3.3%, osmopriming) and salicylic acid (SA, 50 mg L–1, hormonal priming) each for 18 h. Untreated and hydroprimed seeds were taken as control. Seeds primed with SA took less time in emergence and had high vigor in early planted maize. Amongst treatments, hormonal priming, reduced the electrical conductivity, increased the leaf relative and chlorophyl contents fol owed by osmopriming with CaCl2 at seedling stage. Likewise, plant height, grain rows and 1 000-grain weight, grain and biological yield and harvest index were also improved by seed priming;however hormonal priming and osmopriming with mLE were more effective in this regard. Improved yield performance by hormonal priming or osmopriming with mLE in early planting primarily owed to increased leaf area index, crop growth and net assimilation rates, and maintenance of green leaf area at maturity. In conclusion, osmopriming with mLE and hormonal priming with SA were the most economical treatments in improving productivity of early planted spring maize through stimulation of early seedling growth at low temperature.

The classical edge detectors work fine with the high quality pictures, but often are not good enough for noisy images because they cannot distinguish edges of different significance. The paper presented a novel approach to multiscale edge detection for noisy images using wavelet transforms based on Lipschitz regularity coefficients and a cascade algorithm. The relationship between wavelet transform and Lipschitz regularity was established. The proposed wavelet based edge detection algorithm combined the coefficients of wavelet transforms along with a cascade algorithm which significantly improves the result. The comparison between the proposed method and the classical edge detectors was carried out. The algorithm was applied to various images and its performance was discussed. The results of edge detection of contaminated images using the proposed algorithm show that it works better than the classical edge detectors.

An improved hybrid position/force controller design of a flexible robot manipulator is presented using a sliding observer. The friction between the end effector and the environment is considered and compensated. For systematic reasons the controller is designed taking into consideration the rigid link subsystems and the flexible joints. The proposed control system satisfies the stability of the two subsystems and copes with the uncertainty of robot dynamics. A sliding observer is designed to estimate the time derivative of the torque applied as input to the rigid part of the robot. For the stability of the observer, it is assumed that the uncertainty of the observed system is bounded. A mRAC algorithm is used for the estimation of the friction forces at the contact point between the end effector and the environment. Finally simulation and experimental results are given, to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

This letter describes the characteristics of homogeneous-heterogeneous re- action in the boundary layer flow of a Jeffrey fluid due to an impermeable horizontal stretching sheet. An analysis is carried out through the similar values of reactant and auto catalyst diffusion coefficients. Heat released by the reaction is not accounted. The exact solution for the flow of the Jeffrey fluid is constructed. The series solution for the concentration equation is derived. The velocity and concentration fields reflecting the impact of interesting parameters are plotted and examined.

The electron flux oscillations in photo-detachment of a non-collinear tri-atomic anion have been studied by taking each atom of the system as a coherent source of detached-electron wave. These electron waves traversing along three different trajectories result in a quantum interference. An analytical expression of detached-electron flux is evaluated for various detached-electron energies and for different geometrical shapes of the system. The results show that the electron flux distributions exhibit molecular shape-induced oscillatory structures. These oscillations are explained using the semi- classical closed-orbit theory; the outgoing electron waves produced from one center are propagated in the vicinity of the sources at other centers. It is also observed that in a particular case our non-collinear tri-atomic system reduces to the collinear tri-atomic system recently published.

Objective:To determine the present status of plant communities and their possible association with the habitat in malam Jabba,Swat,***:A study on the phytoecology was conducted in various ecologically important sites of malam Jabba,Swat,Pakistan from 2002 to *** altitude of these sites ranged from 1200 m to.1200 *** method was used for evaluation of plants communities and the data on these attributes was converted to relative values. The plant communities were named after 3 leading species with highest importance values. Biological spectrum of the flora based on the life form was prepared by following Raunkiar's life form ***:The floristic composition and structure of the study area were found to be 200 species belonging to 75 ***,Lamiaceae and Poaceae were important families in the study *** biological spectrum showed that therophytic and hemicrytophytic life form and micro-nonophyllous leaf sizes were dominant in the *** air and soil temperatures were decreasing with increasing *** the air and soil temperatures were relatively higher in south slopes than on the northeast *** vegetation analysis of the area indicated eleven plant communities around the *** present vegetation is the relics of moist temperate coniferous forest in the *** communities reflect highly deteriorated conditions. Both the structure and composition of the surrounding vegetation were associated with the types of ***:The conservation of the remaining populations of the reported communities will be best achieved by proper time of sustainable *** is only possible with the participation of local communities.

We present an attempt to study the influence of couple stresses on the flow induced by an infinite disk rotating with a constant angular *** governing equations of motion in three dimensions are treated analytically yielding the derivation of exact solutions which differ from those corresponding to the classical Von Kármán's *** analysis reveals that a boundary layer structure develops near the surface of the disk,whose far-field behaviour is distinct from the near-wall *** velocity and vorticity components for various values of the dimensionless parameters,associated with the flow,are presented graphically.

The dispersion relations of parallel propagating modes（Langmuir mode, right and left handed circular polarized waves） in the weak magnetic field limit ｜ω-k·v｜〉〉？ are considered for ultra-relativistic arbitrary degenerate electron plasma. The results are presented in terms of moments of Fermi-Dirac distribution. The increase in the electron equilibrium number density from negative large（weakly degenerate） to positive large（highly degenerate） values of μ/Te is observed（where μ is the electron chemical potential and Te is the electron thermal energy）. As a result, shifting of the cutoff points in all the real dispersion branches towards the higher values and increasing in the band gap between unmagnetized longitudinal and transverse modes in k-space are examined. Also, the suppression of the weak magnetic field effects in weakly magnetized right handed and left handed circular polarized waves and a decrease in the longitudinal and transverse screening effects are observed in the graphical patterns due to an increase in the equilibrium number density.
