In Situ Dissimilatory Nitrate Reduction to Ammonium in a Paddy Soil Fertilized with Liquid Cattle Waste

most studies on dissimilatory nitrate reduction to ammonium （DNRA） in paddy soils were conducted in the laboratory and in situ studies are in need for better understanding of the DNRA process. In this study, in situ incubations of soil DNRA using ^15N tracer were carried out in paddy fields under conventional water （CW） and low water （LW） managements to explore the potential of soil DNRA after liquid cattle waste （LCW） application and to investigate the impacts of soil redox potential （Eh） and labile carbon on DNRA. DNRA rates ranged from 3.06 to 10.40 mg N kg 1 dry soil d-1, which accounted for 8.55%-12.36% and 3.88% 25.44% of consumption of added NO3-^15N when Eh at 5 cm soil depth ranged from 230 to 414 mV and -225 to -65 mV, respectively. DNRA rates showed no significant difference in paddy soils under two water managements although soil Eh and/or dissolved organic carbon （DOC） were more favorable for DNRA in the paddy soil under CW management 1 d before, or 5 and 7 d after LCW application. Soil DNRA rates were negatively correlated with soil Eh （P 〈 0.05, n = 5） but positively correlated with soil DOC （P 〈 0.05, n - 5） in the paddy soil under LW management, while no significant correlations were shown in the paddy soil under CW management. The potential of DNRA measured in situ was consistent with previous laboratory studies; and the controlling factors of DNRA in paddy soils might be different under different water managements, probably due to the presence of different microfioras of DNRA.

Short-Term Responses of Nitrous Oxide Emissions and Concentration Profiles to Fertilization and Irrigation in Greenhouse Vegetable Cultivation

In vegetable cultivation, the majority of N2O emissions occur after fertilization; it is therefore important to understand any factors contributing to this process. An experiment was conducted to investigate short-term N2O dynamics following topdressing in a greenhouse vegetable field in South China. During two topdressing processes, three different urea-N treatments with irrigation were conducted in may and June in a tomato （Lycopersicum esculentum） cultivation. The N2O fluxes, soil concentration profiles and soil environments at the 0-60 cm depths at 10 cm intervals were measured both immediately prior to and 5 days after topdressing. The N2O fluxes before topdressing ranged from 6.7=1=2.1 to 55.0-4-28.8 μg N m-2 h-1; even higher numbers were recorded in highly fertilized plots. The NO3-N accumulation in the soil caused by vegetable cultivation during the 5 years prior to the start of the experiment, resulted in high background N2O fluxes. One day after topdressing （1 DAT） in may and June, N2O fluxes increased, which coincided with sharp increases in soil N2O concentrations at depths of 2.5 and 15 cm and in NOa-N and NH4＋-N contents at depths of 0-20 cm. From 1 to 5 DAT, fluctuations in the N2O fluxes did not harmonize with the N2O concentrations at a depth of 2.5 cm, which was attributed to different gas diffusion rates at depths of 0-10cm. These results suggested that surface soil N and environmental conditions were crucial for determining the short-term N2O ebullitions during topdressing in greenhouse vegetable cultivation.

BACKGROUND We recently reported on a hereditary enteropathy associated with a gene encoding a prostaglandin transporter and referred to as chronic enteropathy associated with SLCO2 A1 gene(CEAS). Crohn's disease(CD) is a major differential diagnosis of CEAS, because these diseases share some clinical features. Therefore, there is a need to develop a convenient screening test to distinguish CEAS from *** To examine whether prostaglandin E major urinary metabolites(PGE-mUm) can serve as a biomarker to distinguish CEAS from *** This was a transactional study of 20 patients with CEAS and 98 patients with *** was diagnosed by the confirmation of homozygous or compound heterozygous mutation of SLCO2 A1. We measured the concentration of PGEmUm in spot urine by radioimmunoassay, and the concentration was compared between the two groups of patients. We also determined the optimal cut-off value of PGE-mUm to distinguish CEAS from CD by receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve *** Twenty Japanese patients with CEAS and 98 patients with CD were ***-mUm concentration in patients with CEAS was significantly higher than that in patients with CD(median 102.7 vs 27.9 μg/g × Cre, P mUm contributed to 7.3 increase in the likelihood for the diagnosis of CEAS [95% confidence interval(CI) 3.2-16.7]. A logistic regression analysis revealed that the association was significant even after adjusting confounding factors(adjusted odds ratio 29.6, 95%CI 4.7-185.7). ROC curve analysis revealed the optimal PGE-mUm cut-off value for the distinction of CEAS from CD to be 48.9 μg/g × Cre with 95.0% sensitivity and 79.6% *** PGE-mUm measurement is a convenient, non-invasive and useful test for the distinction of CEAS from CD.

In this proceeding,we will first outline the experimental setup and main results of the most recent hypernuclear γ-ray spectroscopy experiment (KEK-E566) performed at KEK-PS K6 beam line. The main feature and characteristics of this type of research will be emphasised. After that,the approved experimental proposal (E13) at J-PARC facility will be introduced briefly.

From the ^12 C（π^＋,K^＋）^12 AC reaction the γ -rays of 261.6±0.24 ke V（7/2^＋ →5/2^＋）and 1481.7±0.7 ke V（1/2^＋ →5/2^＋） of ^11 A B,and 2667.3±2.8 keV（1^- 2 → 2^- 1）of ^12 A C hypernuclei have been identified using a large germanium detector array Hyperball2 at K6 beam line of KEK. The observed energies of the transitions 1481.7keV and 261.6 keV are significantly different from the values predicted by the shell model using the △ and SN parameters determined from the ^7 △ Li data.
