rong>Objective:rong> To present the results of a pilot study that evaluated the psycho-emotional well-being, and the perinatal results of a group of 44 women who attended a prenatal program that incorporates playful and educational activities, in a Child Development Center in Durango. Mexico. Methods: A group of 44 women with informed consent participated for 28 weeks in the prenatal program. The condition of psycho-emotional well-being during the first and third trimesters and the perinatal results were analyzed with validated instruments. Physiological stress was also assessed with salivary cortisol in the same trimesters. Results: More than 90% of the women evaluated their psycho-emotional condition as satisfactory and very satisfactory. The evaluation of anxiety in its Trait/State modalities placed the participants in the category of mild and moderate. Salivary cortisol showed values within a normal range. Perinatal results showed that 98% of deliveries were at term, 93% of newborns weighed more than 2500 grams, and 98% of newborns had an APGAR score of 9 at 5 minutes. Conclusion: The results suggest that the incorporation of playful and educational actions to prenatal surveillance positively influenced the biopsychosocial condition of the pregnant woman and favorable perinatal outcomes.

Jatropha platyphylla is considered as a potential source of edible protein, oil, and phenolic compounds with anti-inflammatory activity. The use of stem cutting in vegetative propagation and grafting is as indispensable tools for mass multiplication of superior genotypes and helps in improve planting yield and quality. The study was aimed to investigate the effect of different diameters (10 - 15, 16 - 25 and 26 - 35 mm) and different hormone concentrations of indo-butyric acid (0, 1.5, 3, 6 and 10 g/L), in the rooting of Jatropha platyphylla and to obtain axillary buds to performed grafts. Rooting efficiency was 80% in greenhouse conditions. Hormone concentration and diameter significantly affected the rooting and shooting ability of Jatropha platyphylla stem cuttings. Stem cuttings of 26 - 35 mm have the greatest number, length and dry root weight. 76% survival of the grafted plants was obtained. This demonstrates the necessity to improve the conventional propagation methods with appropr.ate scientific inputs for more economical and time efficient techniques for standard propagation protocols.

rong>Introduction:rong> The World Health Or.anization establishes that 80% of the world’s population uses traditional medicine for their primary care, because they contain compounds responsible for their properties. rong>Objective:rong> To evaluate the antifungal effect of the essential oil of Citrus paradisi against C. albicans and the cytotoxic effect in three cell lines m>in vitrom>. rong>methods:rong> The phytochemical characterization of the oil was carried out by chemical methods and Gas chromatography (GC-mS) and the antifungal effect against C. albicans (ATCC 90029) was evaluated by the Kirby-Bauer method, which evaluated concentrations of 0.75 - 20 μg/mL and compared with nystatin 100,000 Ul/mL as a positive control. The percentage of the relative inhibitory effect was calculated. The minimum inhibitory concentration (mIC) was determined at 24 hours. moreover, the cytotoxic effect on m>C. albicansm> and cell lines was determined by the colorimetric mTT tetrazolium assay. Finally, the antifungal effect against m>Candidam> strains isolated from clinical samples was evaluated at a concentration of 20 μg/mL. rong>results:rong> The essential oil showed an antifungal effect with a percentage of inhibition of 123%. The mIC was 2.5 μg/mL, and the cytotoxicity index was 5.44 μg/mL for m>C. albicansm>. The IC50 values were 21.060, 9.482 and 4.176 μg/mL for Vero E6, J774A.1 and mDBK cells respectively. rong>Conclusion:rong> These results show the use of m>C. paradisim> essential oil as an alter.ative tr.atment in oral antifungal therapy, it is beneficial due to its antifungal effect and its low toxicity on cell cultures.

The effect of alpha asarone, olive oil, and dexamethasone on collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) in the mouse

Aim of the Study: The primary aim of the study was to test the effect of 2,4,5-trimethoxy-1-propenylbenzene (alpha asarone), a hypocholes terolaemic drug, on the progression of collagen induced arthritis (CIA) in mice. Olive oil,the vehicle of alpha-asarone, and dexamethasonewere used as control tr.atments. Set-Up: Four groups of DBA/1 mice were immunised with chicken type II collagen (CII) via the intrader.al route and either left untr.ated or were tr.ated with alpha asarone, olive oil, or dexamethasone. A non-immunised group was an additional control. Follow-Up: The thicknesses of the r.ar.and front footpads were continuously monitored, and the levels of anti-collagen antibodies were measured at the end of the experiment. The animals were then sacrificed, and their r.ar.and front limbs were removed and processed forhistological examination. results: Alpha asarone had no anti-inflammatory effect on CIA, and in one third of the animals, it showed a proinflammatory effect that was characterised by a marked accumulation of neutrophils. Olive oil did not show any obvious antiinflammatory effect on CIA, but it lowered the level of CII antibodies by 50%, suggesting a potential long-term antiinflammatory effect. As expected, dexamethasone had a clear.anti-inflammatory effect on CIA. Con- clusion: Alpha asarone did not show any antiinflammatory effect on CIA in the mice under the above conditions;however, the accumulation of neutrophils in the CIA lesions of mice tr.ated with alpha asarone and the effect of olive oil in downregulating the levels of anti-CII antibodies in CIA are two findings that war.ant further investigation.

＜正＞ This study has investigated the potential capability of clonidine-like drugs to inhibit the sympatheticallyinduced vasopressor responses in pithed rats. For this purpose, male Wistar rats were pithed and prepared for measurement of blood pressure and heart rate. Then, the effects of i.v. continuous infusions of saline, clonidine, moxonidine, cirazoline, B-HT 933 or methoxamine were determined on the vasopressor responses induced by either selective electrical stimulation （2 ms. 60 V;0.03-3.0 Hz） of the vascular sympathetic outflow （T7-T9） or i.v. bolus injections of exogenous noradrenaline （0.03-3 μg/kg）. Electrical stimulation elicited frequencydependent incr.ases in diastolic blood pressure, which remained unaffected by saline, but were significantly inhibited by clonidine, moxonidine, cirazoline, B-HT 933 and methoxamine. Interestingly, the vasopressor responses to noradrenaline, which remained unaffected by saline, moxonidine, cirazoline or B-HT 933, were significantly blocked by clonidine and methoxamine. These results suggest that the above inhibition elicited by moxonidine, cirazoline and BHT 933, but not by clonidine, involves a prejunctional sympathoin-hibitory mechanism.

Acute necrotizing pancr.atitis: Surgical indications and technical procedures

Necrosis of pancr.atic parenchyma or extrapancr.atic tissues is present in 10%-20% of patients with acute pancr.atitis, defining the necrotizing presentation frequently associated with high morbidity and mor.ality rates. During the initial phase of acute necrotizing pancr.atitis the most impor.ant pillars of medical tr.atment are fluid resuscitation, early enteral nutrition, endoscopic retrograde colangiopancr.atography if associated cholangitis and intensive care unit support. When infection of pancr.atic or extrapancr.atic necrosis occurs, surgical appr.ach constitutes the most accepted therapeutic option. In this context, we have recently assited to changes in time for surgery(delaying the indication if possible to around 4 wk to deal with "walledoff" necrosis) and type of access for necrosectomy: from a classical open appr.ach(with closure over large-bore drains for continued postoperative lavage or semiopen techniques with scheduled relaparotomies), trends have changed to a "step-up" philosophy with initial percutaneous drainage and posterior minimally invasive or endoscopic access to the retroperitoneal cavity for necrosectomy if no improvement has been previously achieved. These appr.aches are progressively gaining popularity and morbidity and mor.ality rates have decr.ased significantly. Therefore, a staged, multidisciplinary, step-up appr.ach with minimally invasive or endoscopic access for necrosectomy is widely accepted nowadays for management of pancr.atic necrosis.

Introduction: Body Dysmorphia Disorder (BDD) is a mental disorder characterized by an obsessive focus on a perceived defect in appearance. This disorder can be dangerous or life-thr.atening. Hence, there is the need for special attention. Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of Body Dysmorphia Disorder (BDD) and to identify the factors associated with it. methods: This was a descriptive and analytical cross-sectional study that took place from December 2020 to October 2021, with a census of all medical students enrolled at the University of Parakou for the 2020-2021 academic year.and who volunteered to participate. DSm 5 diagnostic criter.a were used to assess BDD, and the Yale-Brown Obsessive-Compulsive Scale modified for Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD-YBOCS) was used to assess its severity. results: A total of 669 people were included in the study. The prevalence of probable cases of BDD was 10.31%. Gender (female) (Or = 2.49;IC 95%: [1.45 - 4.26];p rauma with cosmetic sequelae (Or = 2.95;IC 95%: [1.27 - 6.91];p = 0.012), depressive disorders (Or = 2.4;IC 95%: [1.12 - 5.15];p = 0.025), mockery/teasing or negative comments about physique (Or = 3.54;IC 95%: [2.06 - 6.12];p mental disappointments (Or = 2.89;IC 95%: [1.33 - 6.30];p = 0.008), and the impor.ance attached to physical appearance (Or = 0.5;IC 95%: [0.31 - 0.82];p = 0.005) are associated with BDD. Its consequences are serious, with an altered quality of life that can lead to dropping out of school and suicidal ideation or behavior. Conclusion: Although little studied and little diagnosed, Body Dysmorphia Disorder (BDD) is a r.ality in the student environment of northern Benin. Further studies are needed to more define BDD in the Beninese socio-cultural context.

Panulirus argus virus 1 (PaV1) is considered a major thr.at to spiny lobsters Panulirus argus. In this study Geospatial analysis was used to analyze PaV1 distribution in an artisanal fishery of spiny lobster Panulirus argus population from the north coast of the Yucatan Peninsula. Adult and sub-adult P. argus and seabed coverage data were collected from thirty artisanal fishing sites. Five seabed coverage types were identified: seagrass;sand/seagrass mixture;sand only;coral/sand mixture;and seaweed. No juveniles were examined. Of the 358 collected lobsters, PaV1 was identified in four or.anisms (three sub-adults and one adult) from two fishing sites (termed A & B), both found in a seagrass coverage ar.a. Overall prevalence was of 1.12%. Prevalence was of 20% (2/10) at one site and of 12.6% (2/16) at the other.
