Background Assessing the vulnerability of an infectious disease such as dengue among endemic population is an important requirement to design proactive programmes in order to improve resilience capacity of vulnerable *** current study aimed to evaluate the climate change induced socio-economic vulnerability of local communities to dengue in Colombo and Kandy districts of sri *** A total of 42 variables(entomological,epidemiological,meteorological parameters,land-use practices and socio-demographic data)of all the 38 medical Officer of Health(mOH)areas in the districts of Colombo and Kandy were considered as candidate variables for a composite index based vulnerability *** Principal Component Analysis(PCA)was used in selecting and setting the weight for each ***,Sensitivity,Adaptive Capacity and Vulnerability of all mOH areas for dengue were calculated using the composite index approach recommended by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate *** Out of 42 candidate variables,only 23 parameters(Exposure Index:six variables;Sensitivity Index:11 variables;Adaptive Capacity Index:six variables)were selected as indicators to assess climate change vulnerability to *** municipal Council(CmC)mOH area denoted the highest values for exposure(0.89:exceptionally high exposure),sensitivity(0.86:exceptionally high sensitivity)in Colombo,while Kandy municipal Council(KmC)area reported the highest exposure(0.79:high exposure)and sensitivity(0.77:high sensitivity)in *** mOH area denoted the highest level of adaptive capacity(0.66)in Colombo followed by menikhinna(0.68)in *** highest vulnerability(0.45:moderate vulnerability)to dengue was indicated from CmC and the lowest indicated from Galaha mOH(0.15;very low vulnerability)in *** the KmC mOH area had a notable vulnerability of 0.41(moderate vulnerability),which was the highest within *** In general,vulnerability for

To meet the future internet traffic challenges, enhancement of hardware architectures related to network security has vital role where software security algorithms are incompatible with high speed in terms of Giga bits per second (Gbps). In this paper, we discuss signature detection technique (SDT) used in network intrusion detection system (NIDS). Design of most commonly used hardware based techniques for signature detection such as finite automata, discrete comparators, Knuth-morris-Pratt (KmP) algorithm, content addressable memory (CAm) and Bloom filter are discussed. Two novel architectures, XOR based pre computation CAm (XPCAm) and multi stage look up technique (mSLT) Bloom filter architectures are proposed and implemented in third party field programmable gate array (FPGA), and area and power consumptions are compared. 10Gbps network traffic generator (TNTG) is used to test the functionality and ensure the reliability of the proposed architectures. Our approach involves a unique combination of algorithmic and architectural techniques that outperform some of the current techniques in terms of performance, speed and powerefficiency.

Resilience as a concept is multi-faceted with complex *** a disaster context,there is lack of consistency in conceptualizing social *** results in ambiguity of its definition,properties,and pathways for assessment.A number of key research gaps exist for critically reviewing social resilience conceptualization,projecting resilience properties in a disaster-development continuum,and delineating a resilience trajectory in a multiple disaster *** review addressed these research gaps by critically reviewing social resilience definitions,properties,and *** review found four variations in social resilience definitions,which recognize the importance of abilities of social systems and processes in disaster phases at different levels.A review of resilience properties and pathways in the disaster resilience literature suggested new resilience properties—“risk-sensitivity”and“regenerative”in the timeline of two consecutive *** review highlights a causal pathway for social resilience to better understand the resilience status in a multi-shock scenario by depicting inherent and adaptive resilience for consecutive disaster scenarios and a historical case study for a resilience trajectory in a multiple disaster *** review findings will assist disaster management policymakers and practitioners to formulate appropriate resilience enhancement strategies within a holistic framework in a multi-disaster timeline.

Water pollution caused by industrial dyes has become a severe problem in the modern world. Biosorbents can be used in an eco-friendly manner to remove industrial dyes. In this study, five biosorbents were selected: palmyrah sprout casing (PSC), manioc peel, lime peel, king coconut husk, and coconut kernel. Batch adsorption experiments were conducted to identify the best biosorbent with the highest ability to adsorb methylene blue (mB) from wastewater. The detailed mechanisms of PSC used in the adsorptive removal of mB in aqueous phase were investigated. Of the five biosorbents, PSC exhibited the best removal performance with an adsorption capacity at equilibrium (qe) of 27.67 mg/g. The qe values of lime peel, king coconut husk, manioc peel, and coconut kernel were 24.25 mg/g, 15.29 mg/g, 10.84 mg/g, and 7.06 mg/g, respectively. To explain the mechanisms of mB adsorption with the selected biosorbents, the Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometry and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses were performed to characterize functional properties, and isotherm, kinetic, rate-limiting, and thermodynamic analyses were conducted. The FTIR analysis revealed that different biosorbents had different functional properties on their adsorptive surfaces. The FTIR and XRD results obtained before and after mB adsorption with PSC indicated that the surface functional groups of carbonyl and hydroxyl actively participated in the removal process. According to the isotherm analysis, monolayer adsorption was observed with the Langmuir model with a determination coefficient of 0.998. The duration to reach the maximum adsorption capacity for mB adsorption with PSC was 120 min, and the adsorption process was exothermic due to the negative enthalpy change (-9.950 kJ/mol). moreover, the boundary layer thickness and intraparticle diffusion were the rate-limiting factors in the adsorption process. Array P systems were introduced by Paun Gh. which is linking the two areas of membrane computing and picture grammars. Puzzle grammars were introduced by us for generating connected picture arrays in the two-dimensional plane, motivated by the problem of tiling the plane. On the other hand, incorporating into arrays the developmental type of generation used in the well-known biologically motivated L systems, Siromoney and Siromoney proposed a very general rectangular array generating model, called extended controlled tabled L array system (ECTLAS). In this paper we introduce two variations of the array P system, called BPG array P system and parallel array P system. The former has in the regions array objects and basic puzzle grammar rules (BPG), which are a specific kind of puzzle grammar rules. In the latter, the regions have rectangular array objects and tables of context-free rules. We examine these two types of P systems for their array generative power.

Understanding social resilience can assist in the formulation of disaster management policies to help communities better prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. However, direct social resilience measurement methods such as household surveys are not always a practical option as they are a time-and resource-exhaustive process. Existing measures mainly utilize publicly available census data, which often provide a poor and outdated assessment of current social resilience status. Another limitation includes a failure to capture multiple facets of indicators that are process-oriented and dynamic in nature such as mobility of people. These challenges can be addressed by employing a surrogate approach. Surrogates are alternative measures to depict the target indicator. The surrogate approach can capture key facets of a target indicator, which can be used as potential measures for the target indicator. A framework to conceptualize the surrogate approach is presented, and operationalized using a case study approach on the southeastern coast of sri Lanka to identify surrogates to measure mobility of people as a resilience indicator. Six higher-order themes were identi-fied as potential surrogates to measure mobility of people in a disaster context. The approach proposed to methodically identify potential surrogates and their measurement protocols can help to improve the current knowledge base and understanding of complex interrelationships of social resilience.

Purpose-In recent years,it is imperative to establish the structure of manufacturing industry in the context of smart *** to rising demand for exchange of information with various devices,and huge number of sensor nodes,the industrial wireless networks(IWNs)face network congestion and inefficient task *** this purpose,software-defined network(SDN)is the emerging technology for IWNs,which is integrated into cognitive industrial Internet of things for dynamic task scheduling in the context of industry ***/methodology/approach-In this paper,the authors present SDN based dynamic resource management and scheduling(DRmS)for effective devising of the resource utilization,scheduling,and hence successful transmission in a congested ***,the earliest deadline first(EDF)algorithm is introduced in authors’proposed work for the following criteria’s to reduce the congestion in the network and to optimize the packet ***-The result shows that the proposed work improves the success ratio versus resource usage probability and number of nodes versus successful joint *** last,the proposed method outperforms the existing myopic algorithms in terms of query response time,energy consumption and success ratio(packet delivery)versus number of increasing nodes,***/value-The authors proposed a priority based scheduling between the devices and it is done by the EDF ***,the proposed work reduces the network delay time and minimizes the overall energy efficiency.
