Human immunodeficiency virus （HIV） emerged as one of the most serious health issues of the modern era. Till date, it challenges the scientists working in the fields related to its prevention, least spread and eradication. It affects not only the person suffering from it but also the communities and their economies. mathematical modeling is one of the ways to explore the possibilities of prediction （and control） strategies for contagious deceases. In this paper, we have tried to extend the scope of a currently available prediction model for a continuous time span. For this purpose, an analytical investigation of the system of nonlinear differential equations, governing the HIV infection of CD4 ＋ T-cells, is carried out. A new emerging analytical technique Optimal Variational Iteration method （OVIm） has been used to obtain an analytical and convergent solution. Analytical solutions are continuous solutions that can be used to predict the phenomena without the involvement of interpolation or extrapolation errors. On the other hand, their use in the derived equations, depending upon solution itself, is far easier than the numerical solutions. We have presented the error analysis and the prediction curves graphically. moreover, a comparison with traditional Variational Iteration is also provided. It is concluded that the traditional method fails to converge for the updated models which involve the delayed differential equations.

AIm：To compare the efficacy of single-session 360-degree selective laser trabeculoplasty（SLT） for reduction of intraocular pressure（IOP） in patients with pseudoexfoliative glaucoma（PXFG） and primary open angle glaucoma（POAG）.· mETHODS：This is a single-center,prospective,nonrandomized comparative *** older than 18 years of age with uncontrolled PXFG or POAG eyes requiring additional therapy while on maximally tolerated IOP-lowering medications were *** primary outcome measure changed in IOP from *** was defined as IOP reduction ≥20%from baseline without any additional IOP-lowering *** patients were examined at 1d,1wk,1,3,6,9,12 mo after SLT.· RESULTS：Nineteen patients（20 eyes） with PXFG and27 patients（28 eyes） with POAG were included in the *** the visual fields mean deviation was-2.88（±1.67）in the POAG and-3.1（±1.69） in the PXFG groups（P=0.3）.The mean（±SD） IOP was 22.9（±3.7） mm Hg in the POAG group and 25.7（±4.4） mm Hg in the PXFG group at baseline and decreased to 18.4（±3.2） and 18.0（±3.9） mm Hg in the POAG group（P〈0.001 and P=0.02）,and to 17.9（±4.0） and 21.0（±6.6） mm Hg in the PXFG group（P〈0.001 and P=0.47） at 6 and 12 mo,*** number of medications was 2.6（±0.8） in the POAG group and 2.5（±0.8） in the PXFG group at baseline,and did not change at all follow-up visits in both groups（P =0.16 in POAG and 0.57 in PXFG）.Based on Kaplan-meier survival analysis,the success rate was 75%in the POAG group compared to 94.1%in the PXFG group（P=0.08;Log-rank test） at 6mo,and 29.1%and 25.0%at 12 mo,respectively（P=0.9;Log-rank）.· CONCLUSION：The 360-degree SLT is an effective and well-tolerated therapeutic modality in patients with POAG and PXFG by reducing IOP without any change in number of *** response was more pronounced early in the postoperative period in patients with PXFG whereas there was no statistically significant difference at 12-month follow-up. 〈/tr〉

BACKGROUND： Cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide. The application of biophotonics for diagnosing precancerous lesions is a major breakthrough in oncology and is associated with the expression of clastogenic bio-markers, such as reactive oxygen species （ROS）, namely, superoxide anion radicals, hydrogen peroxide, hydroxyl radicals, and lipid peroxidation products. These ROS are the major sources of ultra-weak biophotons emission; in addition, biophotons are emitted from other biomolecules, which are not associated with ROS. The precancerous phase is diagnosed on the basis ofbiophoton emission from biomarkers. The type of biophotons emitted depends on the structure of the clastogenic ROS. mETHODS： ROS-based emission of ultra-weak photons can be detected using charge coupled device （CCD） cameras and photomultiplier tubes. Furthermore, spectroscopic and microscopic analysis can yield more advanced and definite results. RESULTS： The frequency and intensity of biophoton emission associated with each ROS provides information regarding the precancerous phase. Previous have attempted to show an association between precancerous growth and biophoton emission; however, their results were not conclusive. In this review, we have addressed multiple aspects of the molecular environment, especially light- matter interactions, to derive a successful theoretical relationship which may have the ability to diaganose the tumor at precancerous stage and to give the solutions of previous failures. This can be a major quantum leap toward precancerous diagnosis therapy. CONCLUSION： Biophotonics provides an advanced framework, for easily diagnosing cancer at its preliminary stage. The relationship between biophotons, clastogenic factors, and biochemical reactions in the cellular microenvironment can be understood successfully. Towards safe injection practices for prevention of hepatitis C transmission in South Asia: Challenges and progress

AIm: To summarize the available information about injection use and its determinants in the South Asian region. mETHODS: We searched published and unpublished literature on injection safety in South Asia published during 1995-2016 using the keywords "injection" "unsafe injection" and "immunization injection" and combined these with each of the countries and/or their respective states or provinces in South Asia. We used a standardized questionnaire to abstract the following data from the articles: the annual number of injections per capita, the proportion of injections administered with a reused syringe or needle, the distribution of injections with respect to prescribers and providers and determinants of injection use. RESULTS: Although information is very limited for certain countries(i.e., Bhutan, maldives and Sri Lanka), healthcare injection use is very common across South Asia, with cross-country rates ranging from 2.4 to 13.6 injections/person/year. Furthermore, recent studies show that 5% to 50% of these injections are provided with reused syringes, thus creating potential to transmission of blood-borne pathogens. Qualified and unqualified practitioners, especially in the private sector, are the major drivers behind injection use, but patients also prefer injections, especially among the rural, poor or uneducated in certain countries. According to available data, Pakistan and India have recently taken steps towards achieving safe injection. Potential interventions include the introduction of reuse prevention devices, and patient-, community- and patient/community and provider-centered interventionsto change population and practitioner behavior. CONCLUSION: Injection use is common in South Asian countries. multilevel interventions aiming at patients, providers and the healthcare system are needed to reduce injection use and reuse.

Breast cancer brain metastases(BCBms)are one of the most difficult malignancies to treat due to the intracranial location and multifocal *** and molecular targeted therapy are extremely ineffective for BCBms due to the inept brain accumulation because of the formidable bloodbrain barrier(BBB).Accumulation studies prove that low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 1(LRP1)is promising target for BBB ***,as the primary clearance receptor for amyloid beta and tissue plasminogen activator,LRP1 at abluminal side of BBB can clear LRP1-targeting *** metalloproteinase-1(mmP1)is highly enriched in metastatic niche to promote growth of ***,it is reported that nanoparticles(NPs-K-s-A)tethered with mmP1-sensitive fusion peptide containing HER2-targeting K and LRP1-targeting angiopep-2(A),can surmount the BBB and escape LRP1-mediated clearance in metastatic ***-K-s-A revealed infinitely superior brain accumulation to angiopep-2-decorated NPs-A in BCBms bearing mice,while comparable brain accumulation in normal *** delivered doxorubicin and lapatinib synergistically inhibit BCBms growth and prolongs survival of mice bearing *** to the efficient BBB penetration,special and remarkable clearance escape,and facilitated therapeutic outcome,the fusion peptide-based drug delivery strategy may serve as a potential approach for clinical management of BCBms.

Background:Ebola virus disease has reemerged as a major public health crisis in Africa,with isolated cases also observed globally,during the current ***:To estimate the basic reproductive ratio R0,which is a measure of the severity of the outbreak,we developed a SEIR(susceptible-exposed-infected-recovered)type deterministic model,and used data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC),for the Ebola outbreak in Liberia and Sierra *** different data sets are available:one with raw reported data and one with corrected data(as the CDC suspects under-reporting).Results:Using a deterministic ordinary differential equation transmission model for Ebola epidemic,the basic reproductive ratio R0 for Liberia resulted to be 1.757 and 1.9 for corrected and uncorrected case data,*** Sierra Leone,R0 resulted to be 1.492 and 1.362 for corrected and uncorrected case data,*** each of the two cases we considered,the estimate for the basic reproductive ratio was initially greater than unity leading to an epidemic ***:We obtained robust estimates for the value of R0 associated with the 2014 Ebola outbreak,and showed that there is close agreement between our estimates of *** of our model also showed that effective isolation is required,with the contact rate in isolation less than one quarter of that for the infected non-isolated population,and that the fraction of high-risk individuals must be brought to less than 10%of the overall susceptible population,in order to bring the value of R0 to less than 1,and hence control the outbreak.

In this article, a topological sensitivity framework for far-field detection of a diamet- rically small electromagnetic inclusion is established. The cases of single and multiple measurements of the electric far-field scattering amplitude at a fixed frequency are tak- en into account. The performance of the algorithm is analyzed theoretically in terms of its resolution and sensitivity for locating an inclusion. The stability of the framework with respect to measurement and medium noises is discussed. moreover, the quantitative results for signal-to-noise ratio are presented. A few numerical results are presented to illustrate the detection capabilities of the proposed framework with single and multiple measurements.
