Protective effect of unilateral vasospasm in the setting of HHH-associated posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome:case report, review of the literature, and treatment considerations

Background:Hyperdynamic therapy,also called triple-H therapy,is the standard treatment and prophylaxis for aneurysmal-associated *** patients who are able to tolerate cardiopulmonary stressors induced by this therapy,it is of benefit as a modality for prevention and treatment of delayed ischemic neurologic ***,it can be a cause of significant cardiopulmonary or neurologic *** rare cases,it can be associated with posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome(PRES),secondary to prolonged vasopressor and hypertensive *** presentation:We present the case of a patient with right-sided aneurysmal-associated vasospasm who,after 10 days of triple-H therapy,experienced a seizure and was found to have left-sided ***-sided vasospasm served as a protective mechanism from triple-H therapy-associated *** presented a treatment conundrum due to contradictory perfusion *** therapy was curtailed and in efforts to preserve local cerebral perfusion and vasodilation,local therapy with intrathecal nicardipine was *** present our case,a review of the literature,and management ***:Therapies that have conventionally functioned as second line treatments for aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage(intra-arterial vasodilators and intrathecal vasodilators)may be beneficial as earlier treatments in the setting of vasospasm given the systemic difficulties and complications associated with HHH therapy in patients with PRES.

Power Output and Electromyography Activity of the Back Squat Exercise with Cluster Sets

Recently, it has been demonstrated that hypertrophic training with CLU （cluster） sets produces greater strength and power following a 12-week periodized program. The results suggest possible differences in neuromuscular adaptations. Therefore, we sought to compare the acute effect of TRD （traditional） and CLU set configurations during the parallel back squat on mean power output and integrated EmG （electromyography） activity of the VL （vastus lateralis） and BF （biceps femoris）. Ten males （23 ~ 2.4 years; height 182.9 ~ 6.1 cm; weight 86.2 ~ 4.2 kg; 5 ~ 2 years training） performed the parallel back squat using TRD and CLU with 75% 1Rm （one-repetition maximum） in a randomized crossover design. Data was analyzed by a repeated measures--ANOVA （analysis of variance）. A significant effect of set （P = 0.006） was observed in mean power output. mean power output decreased over each successive set when collapsed for condition. Clusters resulted in greater mean power output during latter repetitions of each set （repetition 4, 6-10; P 〈 0.05）. A significant effect of set （P = 0.049） was observed in VL EmG. VL EmG increased over each successive set when collapsed for condition. TRD training produced significantly greater VL EmG during latter repetitions of each set （repetition 6-8; P 〈 0.05）. An interaction was observed in BF EmG. No significant differences were observed in post-hoc. Thus, cluster sets can be used to achieve greater power output, but greater neuromuscular activity should not be expected relative to traditional training.

Risk calculators have offered a viable tool for clinicians to stratify patients at risk of prostate cancer(PCa)and to mitigate the low sensitivity and specificity of screening prostate specific antigen(PSA).While initially based on clinical and demographic data,incorporation of multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging(mRI)and the validated prostate imaging reporting and data system suspicion scoring system has standardized and improved risk stratification beyond the use of PSA and patient parameters ***-naïve patients with lower risk profiles for harboring clinically significant PCa are often subjected to uncomfortable,invasive,and potentially unnecessary prostate biopsy *** risk calculator data into prostate mRI reports can broaden the role of radiologists,improve communication with clinicians primarily managing these patients,and help guide clinical care in directing the screening,detection,and risk stratification of PCa.

Chronic inflammation results from excessive pro-inflammatory signaling and the failure to resolve the inflammatory *** mediators orchestrate both the initiation and resolution of *** from pro-inflammatory to pro-resolving lipid mediator biosynthesis is considered as efficient strategy to relieve chronic inflammation,though drug candidates exhibiting such features are *** from a library of Vietnamese medical plant extracts,we identified isomers of the biflavanoid 8-methylsocotrin-4’-ol from Dracaena cambodiana,which limit inflammation by targeting 5-lipoxygenase and switching the lipid mediator profile from leukotrienes to specialized pro-resolving mediators(SPm).Elucidation of the absolute configurations of 8-methylsocotrin-4’-ol revealed the 2 S,γSisomer being most active,and molecular docking studies suggest that the compound binds to an allosteric site between the 5-lipoxygenase *** identified additional subordinate targets within lipid mediator biosynthesis,including microsomal prostaglandin E2 *** production is efficiently suppressed in activated human neutrophils,macrophages,and blood,while the induction of SPm biosynthesis is restricted to m2 *** shift from leukotrienes to SPm was also evident in mouse peritonitis in vivo and accompanied by a substantial decrease in immune cell *** summary,we disclose a promising drug candidate that combines potent 5-lipoxygenase inhibition with the favorable reprogramming of lipid mediator profiles.

Per-and Polyfluorinated alkyl substances(PFAS)are a broad class of synthetic compounds that have fluorine substituted for hydrogen in several or all locations and are globally categorized as PFCs(perfluorochemicals;commonly called fluorinated chemicals).These compounds have unique chemical and physical properties that enable their use in non-stick surfaces,fire-fighting efforts,and as slick ***,recent concerns over the health effects of such compounds,specifically perfluorooctanoic acid and perfluorooctane sulfonic acid(PFOA,PFOS;PFOA/S),have led to increased attention and research by the global community into degradation *** this study,soil samples from PFAS-contamination sites were cultured and screened for microbes with PFOA/S degradation potential,which led to the identification of Delftia *** was found that *** isolated from PFAS-contaminated soils was capable of growth in minimal media with PFOA as a sole carbon resource,and an observable fluoride concentration increase was observed when cells were exposed to *** suggests potential activity of a dehalogenase enzyme that may be of use in PFOA or PFAS microbial remediation *** associated haloacid dehalogenases have been identified in the *** genome and have been engineered for expression in Escherichia coli for rapid production and *** enzymes have shown potential for enzymatic defluorination,a significant step in biological degradation and removal of PFOA/S from the *** hypothesize that bioremediation of PFAS using naturally occurring microbial degradation pathways may represent a novel approach to remove PFAS contamination.

Introduction Using the information obtained from analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences,Tsukamurella was first proposed as a genus in 1988,1 despite the fact that the first strain of this group of bacteria was described in 1941,2 and the first human isolate was reported in 1971.3 Similar to related genera of the order Corynebacteriales,such as Nocardia,Rhodococcus,and Gordonia,members of Tsukamurella are Gram-positive,aerobic,catalase-positive,and partially acid-fast as a result of the presence of mycolic acid in the cell *** to their similar phenotypic properties,differentiation of these genera and speciation within these genera is difficult in most clinical microbiology laboratories.

Assessment of Heavy metals Contamination of Topsoil and Street Dust around Cement Factory in Southern jordan

Evaluation of assessment of the metal processes governing the metals distribution in soil and dust samples is very significant and protects the health of human and ecological system. Recently, special attention has given to the assessment of metals pollution impact on soil and dust within industrial areas. This study aims to assess the metal contamination levels in the topsoil and street dust around the cement factory in Qadissiya area, southern jordan. The levels of seven metals (namely Fe, Zn, Cu, Pb, Cr, Cd, and mn) were analyzed using Flame Atomic Absorption Spec-trophotometer (FAAS) to monitor, evaluate, and to compare topsoil and road dust pollution values of metals of the different types of urban area. The physicochemical parameters which believed to affect the mobility of metals in the soil of the study area were determined such as pH, EC, TOm, CaCO3 and CEC. The levels of metal in soil samples are greater on the surface but decrease in the lower part as a result of the basic nature of soil. The mean values of the metals in soil can be arranged in the following order: Zn > Pb > mn > Fe > Cu > Cr > Cd. The relatively high concentration of metals in the soil sample was attributed to anthropogenic activities such as traffic emissions, cement factory and agricultural activities. Correlation coefficient analysis and the spatial distribution of indices and the results of statistical analysis indicate three groups of metals: Fe and mn result by natural origin, Zn, Pb, Cu and Zn result by anthropogenic origin (mainly motor vehicle traffic and abrasion of tires) while Cd is mixed origin. The higher content level values of metals of anthropogenic source in soil samples indicate that it is a source of contamination of air in the studied area. .
