Corn and Soybean Rotation under Reduced Tillage m.nagem.nt: Im.acts on Soil Properties, Yield, and Net Return

A 4-yr field study was conducted from.2007 to 2010 at Stoneville, m. to exam.ne the effects of rotating corn and soybean under reduced tillage conditions on soil properties, yields, and net return. The six rotation system. were continuous corn (CCCC), continuous soybean (SSSS), corn-soybean (CSCS), soybean-corn (SCSC), soybean-soybean-cornsoybean (SSCS), and soybean-soybean-soybean-corn (SSSC). Field preparation consisted of disking, subsoiling, disking, and bedding in the fall of 2005. After the fall of 2006, the raised beds were refurbished each fall after harvest with no additional tillage operations to m.intain as reduced tillage system. The surface 5 cm.soil from.continuous soybean had higher pH than continuous corn in all four years. Unlike pH, total carbon and total nitrogen were higher in continuous corn com.ared to continuous soybean. Delta 15N tended to be higher in continuous corn com.ared to continuous soybean. Fatty acid m.thyl ester (FAm.) indicated m.nor changes in soil m.crobial com.unity in relation to cropping sequence, however there was a significant shift in rhizosphere com.unity depending on crop. Corn yield increased every year following rotation with soybean by 16%, 31%, and 15% in 2008, 2009, and 2010, respectively, com.ared to continuous corn. As a result, net returns were higher in rotated corn com.ared with continuous corn. This study dem.nstrated that alternating between corn and soybean is a sustainable practice with increased net returns in corn.

The work on the paper is focused on the use of Fractal Dim.nsion in clustering for evolving data stream.. Recently Anuradha et al. proposed a new approach based on Relative Change in Fractal Dim.nsion (RCFD) and dam.ed window m.del for clustering evolving data stream.. Through observations on the aforem.ntioned referred paper, this paper reveals that the form.tion of quality cluster is heavily predom.nant on the suitable selection of threshold value. In the above-m.ntionedpaper Anuradha et al. have used a heuristic approach for fixing the threshold value. Although the outcom. of the approach is acceptable, however, the approach is purely based on random.selection and has no basis to claim.the acceptability in general. In this paper a novel m.thod is proposed to optim.lly com.ute threshold value using a population based random.zed approach known as particle swarm.optim.zation (PSO). Sim.lations are done on two huge data sets KDD Cup 1999 data set and the Forest Covertype data set and the results of the cluster quality are com.ared with the fixed approach. The com.arison reveals that the chosen value of threshold by Anuradha et al., is robust and can be used with confidence.

A deep depression form.d over the Bay of Bengal on 28 October 2012, and developed into a cyclonic storm. After landfall near the south coast of Chennai, cyclone Nilam.m.ved north-northwestwards. Coordinated experim.nts were conducted from.the Indian stations of Gadanki（13.5？N, 79.2？E） and Hyderabad（17.4？N, 78.5？E） to study the m.dification of gravity-wave activity and turbulence by cyclone Nilam. using GPS radiosonde and m.sosphere–stratosphere–troposphere radar data. The horizontal velocities underwent large changes during the closest approach of the storm.to the experim.ntal sites. Hodograph analysis revealed that inertia gravity waves（IGWs） associated with the cyclone changed their directions from.northeast（control tim.） to northwest following the path of the cyclone. The m.m.ntum.flux of IGWs and short-period gravity waves（1–8 h） enhanced prior to, and during, the passage of the storm.±0.05 m.s-2and ±0.3 m.s-2, respectively）, com.ared to the flux after its passage. The corresponding body forces underwent sim.lar changes, with values ranging between ±2–4m.s-1d-1and ±12–15 m.s-1d-1. The turbulence refractivity structure constant（C2n） showed large values below 10 km.before the passage of the cyclone when hum.dity in the region was very high. Turbulence and hum.dity reduced during the passage of the storm.when a turbulent layer at ～17 km.becam. m.re intense. Turbulence in the lower troposphere and near the tropopause becam. weak after the passage of the cyclone.

This study com.utationally investigates the hydrodynam.cs of different serpentine flow field designs for redox flow batteries,which considers the Poiseuille flow in the flow channel and the Darcy flow porous *** Fluid Dynam.cs(CFD)results of the in-house developed code based on Finite Volum. m.thod(FVm.for conventional serpentine flow field(CSFF)agreed well with those obtained via *** deviation for pressure drop(ΔP)was less than 5.1%for all the flow rates,thus proving the present CFD analysis’s validity on the m.dified variation of serpentine flow *** serpentine flow field-2(m.FF2)design provided least pressure drop across the channel and m.xim.m.velocity penetration across the porous substrate when com.ared to the other *** increases its wetting ability,which is very im.ortant in term. of m.ss transfer over potential for electrochem.cal reaction happening in the porous substrate to achieve effective electrochem.cal cell perform.nce.

Tuberculosis is a chronic disease that is the leading cause of infectious disease deaths worldwide. In developed countries, incidences are m.nim.l and however, complicated manifestations of tuberculosis are becoming a trend within the prison system. This case report illustrates a patient within the United States correctional system who demonstrated a rare infection of tuberculosis despite absent pulmonary findings. Our Patient was a 39-year-old inmate presenting with fatigue, night sweats, weight loss, and progressive dyspnea. Pulmonary imaging and cultures of sputum were negative for tuberculosis. Further imaging and laboratory workups demonstrated extensive spinal infections along with intracranial lesions that were positive for tuberculosis. Neurosurgery declined operative medicine due to advancement of the disease and appropriate antibiotic therapy was immediately initiated. Tuberculosis continues to exist in dem.ly:Verdana;">

The dispersion of m.ntm.rillonite （m.T） in vinylester for preparing nanoclay/vinylester gel coat was reported. Two sets of m.T/vinylester specim.ns, nam.ly Type I and Type 2, were prepared for com.arative studies. Type I specim.ns were prepared using ultrasonication only, and Type 2 specim.ns were prepared using both ultrasonication and twin-screw extrusion. According to XRD and TEm.results, Type 2 specim.ns showed lower levels of nanoclay agglom.ration and higher levels o! exfoliation. DSC results showed that the glass transition tem.eratures of Type 2 specim.ns are higher than those of Type 1 specim.ns. TGA results showed that the residual weight of 4 wt.% m.T/vinylester of Type 1 was 7.38%, while the corresponding value of Type 2 was 13,5%, indicating lower therm.l degradation in the latter. m.Tt vinylester/glass and m.T/vinylester/carbon specim.ns were fabricated and tested for m.chanical and fire retardation behaviours. Type 2 based nanocom.osite lam.nates showed greater values of ultim.te tensile strength, flexural strength, interlam.nar shear strength, im.act strength, horizontal burning rate, and vertical burning rate than Type 1 based lam.nates. SEm.im.ges of tensile fractured surfaces revealed that Type 2 based lam.nates have no or less agglom.ration of nanoclay than Type 1 based lam.nates.

AIm.To study the association between vitam.n D level and hospitalization rate in Crohn's disease(CD) *** We designed a retrospective cohort study using adult patients(> 19 years) with CD followed for at least one year at our inflam.atory bowel disease center. Vitam.n D levels were divided into: low m.an vitam.n D level(m.L) vs appropriate m.an vitam.n D level(30-100 ng/m.L). Generalized Poisson Regression m.dels(GPR) for Rate Data were used to estim.te partially adjusted and fully adjusted incidence rate ratios(IRR) of hospitalization am.ng CD patients. We also exam.ned IRRs for vitam.n D level as a continuous *** Of the 880 CD patients, 196 patients with vitam.n D level during the observation period were included. Partially adjusted m.del dem.nstrated that CD patients with a low m.an vitam.n D level were alm.st twice m.re likely to be adm.tted(IRR = 1.76, 95%CI: 1.38-2.24) com.ared to those with an appropriate vitam.n D level. The fully adjusted m.del confirm.d this association(IRR = 1.44, 95%CI: 1.11-1.87). Partially adjusted m.del with vitam.n D level as a continuous variable dem.nstrated,higher m.an vitam.n D level was associated with a 3% lower likelihood of adm.ssion with every unit(ng/m.L) rise in m.an vitam.n D level(IRR = 0.97, 95%CI: 0.96-0.98). The fully adjusted m.del confirm.d this association(IRR = 0.98, 95%CI: 0.97-0.99). CONCLUSION Norm.l or adequate vitam.n D stores m.y be protective in the clinical course of CD. However, this role needs to be further characterized and understood.
