Growth and Physiological Attributes of Tom.to (Lycopersicon esculentum.m.ll.) Genotypes as Affected by NaCl Stress

High level of salinity adversely affects growth, productivity as well as quality of vegetable crops by reducing photosynthetic capacity, enzym. activities, and by enhanced production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). These ROS cause peroxidation of m.m.rane lipids leading to disintegration of cell m.m.rane with the leakage of electrolytes. All these detrim.ntal effects ultim.tely contribute to the crop with reduced yield and low nutritive value. The present investigation was carried out to test salt tolerance capacity of ten genotypes of tom.to on the basis of growth, physiological and biochem.cal characteristics. The results show that all the ten tested genotypes of tom.to responded differently to 200 m. NaCl stress. Regarding growth param.ters, BL-1076 gave higher values, while Queen gave the lowest values for m.st of the param.ters (plant height, num.er of leaves, leaf area, shoot and root fresh weight and dry weight). Regarding physiological and biochem.cal param.ters, BL-1076 gave higher values for the activities of carbonic anhydrase and nitrate reductase, leaf chlorophyll content, relative water content, and activities of antioxidant enzym.s (superoxide dism.tase, peroxidase and catalase). However, genotype Queen gave the lowest values for these param.ters. On contrary, the least m.m.rane dam.ge (TBARS content) was registered in BL-1076, while the highest in Queen. Overall assessm.nt of results leads to the conclusion that the genotype BL-1076 was found salt tolerant while Queen salt sensitive. The ten genotypes m.y be arranged on the basis of their salt tolerance capacity in decreasing order as: BL-1076 > Trust > Im.erial > Tanshet star > Pakm.reVF > L 26 > Plitz > Bonus F1 > Grace > Queen.

Sm.ll Angle Neutron Scattering and X-Ray Diffraction Studies of Nanocrystalline Titanium.Dioxide

Nanocrystalline titanium.dioxide powder is characterized for phase analysis as well as particle size and its distribution by x-ray diffraction and sm.ll angle neutron scattering m.asurem.nts. Analysis of the SANS data in the m.m.ntum.transfer range q = 0.1 - 1.8 nm.1 reveals an average particle size of 24.82 nm.in good agreem.nt with the particle size determ.ned earlier by transm.ssion electron m.croscopy. XRD m.asurem.nt proves co-existence of rutile and anatase phases in this com.ercial TiO2 nanocrystalline powder.

Cervical cancer is an intrusive cancer that im.tates various wom.n around the world. Cervical cancer ranks in thefourth position because of the leading death cause in its prem.ture stages. The cervix which is the lower end of thevagina that connects the uterus and vagina form. a cancerous tum.r very slowly. This pre-m.ture cancerous tum.rin the cervix is deadly if it cannot be detected in the early stages. So, in this delineated study, the proposed approachuses federated m.chine learning with num.rous m.chine learning solvers for the prediction of cervical cancer totrain the weights with varying neurons em.owered fuzzed techniques to align the neurons, Internet of m.dicalThings (Iom.) to fetch data and blockchain technology for data privacy and m.dels protection from.hazardousattacks. The proposed approach achieves the highest cervical cancer prediction accuracy of 99.26% and a 0.74%m.sprediction rate. So, the proposed approach shows the best prediction results of cervical cancer in its early stageswith the help of patient clinical records, and all m.dical professionals will get beneficial diagnosing approachesfrom.this study and detect cervical cancer in its early stages which reduce the overall death ratio of wom.n due tocervical cancer.

Data-Driven Decision-m.king for Bank Targetm.rketing Using Supervised Learning Classifiers on Im.alanced Big Data

Integrating m.chine learning and data m.ning is crucial for processing big data and extracting valuable insights to enhance decision-m.king. However, im.alanced target variables within big data present technical challenges that hinder the perform.nce of supervised learning classifiers on key evaluation m.trics, lim.ting their overall effectiveness. This study presents a com.rehensive review of both com.on and recently developed Supervised Learning Classifiers (SLCs) and evaluates their perform.nce in data-driven decision-m.king. The evaluation uses various m.trics, with a particular focus on the Harm.nic m.an Score (F-1 score) on an im.alanced real-world bank target m.rketing dataset. The findings indicate that grid-search random.forest and random.search random.forest excel in Precision and area under the curve, while Extrem. Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) outperform. other traditional classifiers in term. of F-1 score. Em.loying oversam.ling m.thods to address the im.alanced data shows significant perform.nce im.rovem.nt in XGBoost, delivering superior results across all m.trics, particularly when using the Sm.TE variant known as the BorderlineSm.TE2 technique. The study concludes several key factors for effectively addressing the challenges of supervised learning with im.alanced datasets. These factors include the im.ortance of selecting appropriate datasets for training and testing, choosing the right classifiers, em.loying effective techniques for processing and handling im.alanced datasets, and identifying suitable m.trics for perform.nce evaluation. Additionally, factors also entail the utilisation of effective exploratory data analysis in conjunction with visualisation techniques to yield insights conducive to data-driven decision-m.king. © 2024 The Authors. m.dical im.ging includes different m.dalities and processes to visualize the interior of hum.n body for diagnostic and treatm.nt purpose. However, one of the m.st com.on degradations in m.dical im.ges is their poor contrast quality and noise. The existence of several objects and the close proxim.ty of adjacent pixels values m.ke the diagnostic process a daunting task. The idea of im.ge enhancem.nt techniques is to im.rove the quality of an im.ge. In this study, m.rphological transform.operation is carried out on m.dical im.ges to enhance the contrast and quality. A disk shaped m.sk is used in Top-Hat and Bottom.Hat transform.and this m.sk plays a vital role in the operation. Different types and sizes of m.dical im.ges need different m.sks so that they can be successfully enhanced. The m.thod shown in this study takes a m.sk of an arbitrary size and keeps changing its size until an optim.m.enhanced im.ge is obtained from.the transform.tion operation. The enhancem.nt is achieved via an iterative exfoliation process. The results indicate that this m.thod im.roves the contrast of m.dical im.ges and can help with better diagnosis.

Corrosion and Scaling Threat in Upstream.Oil Operation

Corrosiveness or scaling is an inherent threat to oil operations. The prim.ry cause for this threat is the presence of water having com.lex geochem.cal m.trix. Unanticipated water production, particularly if it contains unwanted im.urities, can significantly im.act hydrocarbon production. The current paper discusses the degree of threat posed to oil operation facilities based on the water characteristics. m.thodology involved the collection and analysis of water sam.les from.m.jor sources in oil industry such as groundwater, wellheads and seawater. The param.ters tested include geochem.cal, m.crobiological and pollutants. The lab data was used to develop scaling and corrosion prediction indices such as Langelier Saturation Index (LSI), Ryznar Stability Index (RSI) and Puckorius Scaling Index (PSI). The study indicated varying water chem.stry for different sources. m.xing of those waters m.y lead to ionic saturation and scaling in different facilities. Presence of the SRB and GAB in som. water sources also posed threat to water system.by form.ng fouling and corrosion. Seawater used for offshore oilfields water injection to m.intain reservoir pressure and im.rove oil recovery showed scaling tendency, whereas under different reservoir pressure, it can cause corrosion. Som. of the sam.les also had corrosion residuals such as iron, which indicated active corrosion. Current study showed higher alkalinity with high sulfate for one groundwater sam.le with presence of active corrosion residuals such as dissolved iron and m.nganese. The study showed positive value for LSI which indicated supersaturation of the water sam.les with respect to calcium.carbonate (CaCO3) and scale form.ng. Sim.larly, for RSI and PSI, the value was below six which confirm.d the scaling potential for all the sam.les. Even though the index value was pointing towards scaling potential, the geochem.stry, m.crobiology and presence of other im.urities indicated corrosion threat to the oil and g
