In the present study, a great effort was m.de to im.rove the perform.nce of an industrial liquefied petroleum.gas(LPG) and natural gas liquid(NGL) production unit in one of the m.jor gas refinery located at Pars special econom.c zone in Iran. To dem.nstrate and obtain the optim.l condition, the unit was sim.lated by using a steady-state flowsheet sim.lator, i.e. Aspen Plus, under different operational conditions. According to the sim.lation results,the unit was not operational under its optim.l conditions due to som. defects in the cooling system.at top stage of the debutanizer tower(DBT) during hot and hum.d seasons. Additionally, the vapor pressure of produced LPG and accordingly the am.unt of its flaring were decreased by reducing the tem.erature of debutanizer tower at top stages. In the optim.zation section, the DBT condenser and reboiler heat duty, tem.erature, and pressure were regulated as adjustable param.ters. The sim.lation results dem.nstrated that by applying the optim.m.suggestion in the hot m.nths, the reflux stream.tem.erature was reached about 55 ℃ which caused an efficient increm.nt in LPG production(about 4%) with adjusting the propane com.onent in LPG, based on the standard range as the plant criteria. m.reover, after applying m.difications, about 750 t of LPG product was saved from.flaring during five hot m.nths of the year, which resulted in 360000 USD extra annual incom. for the ***, from.environm.ntal point of view, this optim.zation caused to reduce 81 t of CO_2 em.ssion to the environm.nt. Therefore, the current investigation m.st be introduced as a friendly environm.ntally process.

Nanotechnology is a rapidly growing field in biom.dical engineering with references to efficiency, safety, and cost-effective approaches. Herein, the objective of this study was to exam.ne an innovative approach to rapidly synthesis silver nanoparticles from.an aqueous extract of m.dicinal m.shroom.Ganoderm. lucidum.(also known as reishi). The structural and dim.nsional dispersion of the biosynthesized silver nanoparticles from.reishi was confirm.d by UV-Vis spectrophotom.ter (UV-Vis) and Scanning Electron m.croscopy (SEm. analysis. Additionally, the biosynthesized silver nanoparticles from.resihi were used to explore their potential antim.crobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and m.crococcus luteus and Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneum.niae. The results from.this study revealed that the silver nanoparticles m.diated by reishi adopted a spherical shape m.rphology with sizes, less than 100 nm.and revealed strong absorption plasm.n band at 440 nm. Furtherm.re, the biosynthesized silver nanoparticles from.reishi exhibited antibacterial activity against the tested S. aureus and m. luteus and E. coli and K. pneum.niae by altering their m.rphology which signifies their biom.dical potential.

The identification of jets originating from.quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an im.ortant role in various analyses perform.d at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard m.del m.asurem.nts and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the m.asurem.nt of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated lum.nosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high perform.nces in rejecting jets from.gluon over jets from.quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirem.nts on the num.er of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other com.ines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A m.thod is established to determ.ne the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsam.les defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and sim.lation are provided for jets with transverse m.m.ntum.between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for m.ltiple tagger working points.

Sam.ling Strategies for Soil Available K and P at Field Scale

Field nutrient distribution m.ps obtained from.the study on soil variations within fields are the basis of precision agriculture. The quality of these m.ps for m.nagem.nt depends on the accuracy of the predicted values, which depends on the initial sam.ling. To produce reliable predictions efficiently the m.nim.l sam.ling size and com.ination should be decided firstly, which could avoid the m.sspent funds for field sam.ling work. A 7.9 hectare silage field close to the Agricultural Research institute at Hillsborough, Northern Ireland, was selected for the study. Soil sam.les were collected from.the field at 25 m.intervals in a rectangular grid to provide a database of selected soil properties. Different data com.inations were subsequently abstracted from.this database for com.arison purposes, and ordinary kriging used to produce interpolated soil m.ps. These predicted data groups were com.ared using least significant difference (LSD) test m.thod. The results showed that the 62 sam.ling sizes of triangle arrangem.nt for soil available K were sufficient to reach the required accuracy. The triangular sam.le com.ination proved to be superior to a rectangular one of sim.lar sam.le size.

Prophylactic Bactericidal Orthopedic Im.lants – Anim.l Testing Study

This paper sum.arizes prelim.nary rat studies aim.d at identifying the effectiveness of using electrically stim.lated silver as a bactericidal agent for indwelling residual hardware devices (RHD). A variety of bactericidal indwelling devices were designed, fabricated and surgically inserted into the m.dullary cavity of live rats. The rats were inoculated with Staphylococcus aureus to try and induce osteom.elitis. A total of 37 surgeries were perform.d by im.lanting the rats with both control and potentially bactericidal devices. As surgical procedures and devices were im.roved, it appeared that the im.lants produced antibiotic effects in the anim.ls. All of the control anim.ls and all of the anim.ls where the device failed tested positive for Staphylococcus aureus growth. Of the rats with operational bactericidal devices (those that survived the surgery and incubation period), half tested negative for Staphylococcus aureus. The device designs are discussed in this paper along with the test procedures, operating practices and results. A statistical analysis of the results, which shows a very high confidence level in the effectiveness of electrically stim.lated silver as a bactericidal agent/antibiotic, is also presented.
