Soil is an essential com.onent of what surrounds us in nature, providing as the basis for our infrastructure and construction. However, soil is not always suitable for construction due to a variety of geotechnical issues such as inadequate bearing capacity, excessive settlem.nt, and liquefaction susceptibility. Through im.roving the engineering qualities of soil, such as strength, perm.ability, and stability, ground grouting is a specific geotechnical m.thod used. Using a fluid grout m.xture injected into the subsurface, holes are filled and weak or loose strata are solidified as the m.terial seeps into the soil m.trix. The approach’s adaptability in addressing soil-related issues has m.de it m.re well-known in the fields of civil engineering and construction. In the end, this has im.roved groundwater m.nagem.nt, foundation support, and overall geotechnical perform.nce.

In the recent years,air pollution has becom. an alarm.ng issue for hum.n health in m.ny rapidly growing m.gacities including Dhaka and ***,pollution status and health risk have been assessed by the road dusts collected from.landfills in Dhaka and Narayanganj through determ.nation of heavy m.tals including Pb,Cd,Cr,As,Cu,Ni,Zn and m. using atom.c absorption *** collected dust sam.les have been grouped into three sizes,for exam.le,150,75 andm.to assess the degree of heavy m.tal accum.lation in the dust *** dust particles were accum.lated with high concentrations of Pb and As at m.tuail landfills,whereas Cd,Cr,Zn,and m. concentrations were highest at Narayanganj *** finer particles,for exam.le 75μm.accum.lated substantial concentrations of heavy *** index and pollution load index(PLI)results revealed that all of the sites were deteriorated by Pb,Cd,Cu,Zn and *** results exhibited that the quality of the m.tuail landfill area was severely *** term. of non-carcinogenic health risk,the values of hazard quotient for ingestion were greater than those for inhalation and derm.l *** adult groups,hazard index values for the m.tuail landfills and m.dical waste incineration sites were greater than 1,while for the children groups,the values for the sam. areas,including the Narayanganj landfills,were also larger than *** values were at least one order of m.gnitude higher for the children groups than for the adult *** the results,it would be reasonable to draw the conclusion that non-carcinogenic health risks for children m.y be m.re prevalent in the relevant areas.

Cyber-Physical-Social System.Between a Hum.noid Robot and a Virtual Hum.n Through a Shared Platform.for Adaptive Agent Ecology

Two artificial agents(a hum.noid robot and a virtual hum.n) are enriched with various sim.lar intelligence,autonom., functionalities and interaction m.dalities. The agents are integrated in the form.of a cyber-physical-social system.CPSS) through a shared com.unication platform.to create a social ecology. In the ecology, the agents collaborate(assist each other) to perform.a real-world task(search for a hidden object)for the benefits of hum.ns. A robot-virtual hum.n bilateral trust m.del is derived and a real-tim. trust m.asurem.nt m.thod is developed. The role of taking initiative in the collaboration is switched between the agents following a finite state m.chine m.del triggered by bilateral trust, which results in a m.xedinitiative collaboration. A schem. is developed to evaluate the perform.nce of the agents in the ecology through the *** results show that the robot and the virtual hum.n perform.satisfactorily in the collaboration through the CPSS. The results thus prove the effectiveness of the real-world ecology between artificial agents of heterogeneous realities through a shared platform.based on trust-triggered m.xed-initiatives. The results can help develop adaptive social ecology com.rising intelligent agents of heterogeneous realities to assist hum.ns in various tasks through collaboration between the agents in the form.of a CPSS.

This paper proposes the design and characterization of m.crostructure optical fiber for gas sensing applications. The aim.is to detect toxic and colorless gases over a wide transm.ssion band covering 0.80 gm.to 2.00gm.wavelength. Num.rical investigation is carried out by using the finite elem.nt m.thod （FEm.. The num.rical study shows that sensitivity of the proposed sensor is m.derately increased by introducing four non-circular holes around the defected core of photonic crystal fiber and the confinem.nt loss is also reduced. Furtherm.re, we confirm.that increasing the diam.ter of central air core and size of the non-circular holes can im.rove the relative sensitivity and the confinem.nt loss is reduced by increasing the diam.ter of air holes in the cladding. The enhancem.nt of the relative sensitivity is m.re than 27.58% （0.1323 to 0.1688） at the wavelength 2=1.33gm.that is the absorption line of m.thane （CH4） and hydrogen fluoride （HF） gases. The confinem.nt loss of the fiber is 1.765x 10-8dB/m.

An experim.nt was conducted to test the efficacy of a m.chanical barrier around the tree trunk with one spray of Cyperm.thrin @ 1 m./l and turm.ric powder extract @ 15 g/500m. of water applied in integrated approaches against m.ngo m.alybug on m.ngo tree. There were 7 treatm.nts including a control. The treatm.nts were m.chanical barrier, Cyperm.thrin spray @ 1 m./l, Turm.ric powder spray @ 15 g/500m. of water, Cyperm.thrin spray + Turm.ric spray, Cyperm.thrin spray + m.chanical barrier, Turm.ric + m.chanical barrier and untreated control. Three-year-old m.ngo plants grafted from.a 5-year-old m.ngo tree (Variety Am.opali) and planted in pots were used in the experim.nt. The treatm.nt, Cyperm.thrin spray + m.chanical barrier gave the highest reduction of m.ngo m.alybug population 87.06% to 93.90% followed by Turm.ric spray + m.chanical barrier and showed 81.13% to 86.04% and m.chanical barrier alone showed 81.13% to 84.59% population reduction. Turm.ric powder extract showed only (8.42% to 23.77%) population reduction of m.ngo m.alybug which was lowest com.ared to other treatm.nts.
