Efficient approaches of determ.ning the m.tion of a spherical particle in a swirling fluid flow using weighted residual m.thods

The m.tion of a spherical particle released in a swirling fluid flow is studied em.loying the least-squares m.thod and m.thod of m.m.nts. The governing equations are obtained and solved em.loying the two m.thods. The accuracy of the results is exam.ned against the results of a fourth-order Runge-Kutta num.r- ical m.thod. The effects of various param.ters, nam.ly the initial radius, initial radial velocity, initial angular velocity, and drag-to-inertia ratio, on the non-dim.nsional velocity profiles and particle position distribution are considered. The results show that the radial velocity increases over tim. while the angular velocity decreases, and that an increase in the initial radial velocity increases the particle radial distance and angular velocity but decreases the radial velocity profile.

Theoretical investigation of m.cropolar fluid flow between two porous disks

The steady, lam.nar, incom.ressible and two dim.nsional m.cropolar flow between two porous disks was investigated using optim.l hom.topy asym.totic m.thod(OHAm. and fourth order Runge–Kutta num.rical m.thod. Com.arison between OHAm.and num.rical m.thod shows that OHAm.is an exact and high efficient m.thod for solving these kinds of problem.. The results are presented to study the velocity and rotation profiles for different physical param.ters such as Reynolds num.er, vortex viscosity param.ter, spin gradient viscosity and m.croinertia density param.ter. As an im.ortant outcom., the m.gnitude of the m.crorotation increases with an increase in the values of injection velocity while it decreases by increasing the values of suction velocity.

Perform.nce of Square Lightweight Concrete Specim.ns Confined by CFRP and GFRP

Confinem.nt is an effective m.thod in order to increase concrete strength and its ductility capacity. To im.rove the structural properties of lightweight concrete, Fiber Reinforced Polym.r （FRP） can be used to confine the concrete. Effect of Fiber Reinforced Polym.r on confined lightweight concrete elem.nts is one of the m.st im.ortant research fields. It is generally accepted that the strength and stiffness of confined concrete is higher than unconfined one. In this research, behavior of confined and unconfined concrete specim.ns under uniaxial loading has been studied. In order to decrease stress concentration corners of specim.ns were cham.ered to a radius of 5 to 25 m.. The Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polym.r （CFRP） and Glass Fiber Reinforced Polym.r （GFRP） were used to confine lightweight concrete specim.ns. The stress-strain curve of specim.ns is com.ared.
